I think part of the frustration, for me at least, is that the devs have shown themselves capable of writing suitable villain content when they put their minds to it. The villain tips, for instance, give you good opportunities to be evil. Or Vincent Ross's arc. Or the earlier installments of the SSA.
This only makes co-op content more jarring, though. I recently finished up the RWZ arcs on one of my masterminds, and it felt just a little out of place to have the likes of Dark Watcher and Faultline treating me as a hero when I'd, you know, killed Miss Liberty in cold blood not too long ago. -
Quote:I'm *really* hoping this is how they present it. I don't understand why SSA 7 even has to be co-op. "Wade tried to cheat me and get away with it, so I'm going to stomp him into goo, cosmic powers or no cosmic powers" is a perfectly fine villainous motivation. And it doesn't require tagging along with heroes or dragging out the tired, creaky old "but you have to save the world, that's where your stuff is" cliche.I've only read the first and last page, so I apologize if this has already been covered...
The dialog options I got had nothing to do with "for the greater good". They were more like "you thought double-crossing me was a good idea? Let's see how that works out for you. I hope you don't think I'll be impressed by Incarnate powers" and ended with Wade running away throwing half-hearted empty threats. Yeah, I guess I'll end up stopping him from destroying the world, but that's not at all why I'm hunting him down. It's not even self-preservation, just personal revenge, which isn't as good as world domination, but still a valid villainous motivation. -
Warshades. I love Peacebringers (I've got a tri-form at 50 and a human-only at 40), but my one effort at being a warshade is stalled at 41 and I'll probably never go back to it.
Dark Armor. I've tried it a few times and I've never really gotten a feel for it. I do still have a lowbie broadsword/dark stalker hanging around, and that might be the breakthrough. -
God, I hate Rularuu. I lost count of the number of hospital runs I had to make after tunnel after tunnel full of Rularuu. Which, frankly, is all this segment was: tunnels full of Rularuu punctuated by a couple of mass combat scenes with a bunch of named characters.
And then ... yet another climax where I get to be a spectator. In fact, this time I'm not even in the scene, I can't do anything to affect it, and I might as well have not bothered to fight my way through all those Rularuu for all the good (or bad) I do. Yank my emotions with Li'l Miss Liberty going "Gwandpa, can you fwy to heaven?" all you want, but I don't play this game to sit on the sidelines and munch popcorn while big things happen.
Also: "no where to run"? "Clich"? "Defeat Positron, Indigo, and Viridian" (on villain side)? Seriously, devs, hire a copy editor. (20 years of experience here, reasonable rates.)
Quote:Yes, I wondered what was going on there.1) BUG: When villains search Darrin Wade's lair, they don't get the clues they're supposed to get.
Incidentally, regarding removing States from the game -- you might also want to go ahead and take Malaise out of Scirocco's "Hammer of the World" arc. -
No, it's clearly Thunder Muscle. (link to thoroughly NSFW video)

I did Lord Winter exactly once, and that was as part of a pre-formed league. The queue was, as usual, utterly worthless. I did Lady Winter once as well -- still forgettable other than the nice frozen Agincourt map -- and ran Baby New Year on a few characters. And I picked up plenty of presents, although I rarely bother trading in candy canes.
I'm still waiting for a mission where we get to go beat the hell out of the Gamester for leaving those dangerous presents all around. Maybe this year.... -
I have about 45 characters, but I generally pick about 5-10 at a time and rotate among them. No such thing as a "main."

Quote:People play DFB a lot because it's fast, easy XP, not just because it's a regular-team-sized trial. I mean, Eden, the CoP, and the Abandoned Sewers are small trials too, and I don't exactly see people flocking to them.Isn't that what DFB is? Judging from the amount of people who play it, I'd go with a yes as answer to your question.
Yes, I know it's not an iTrial, but as a model, you can see there is more than enough interest.
As for the OP: It depends on how interesting the content is. (Not having anything to do with the Well of Origin Hijacking would be a plus.) I have zero interest in Incarnate powers, so I wouldn't do a small trial just for the rewards. -
For the low 40s, I'd suggest trying Maxwell Christopher and Tina MacIntyre. The enemy types you'll be facing in their missions aren't overly resistant to smashing damage for the most part (and, in the case of Nemesis Jaegers, are even vulnerable to it). Admittedly, Christopher's story has some ... issues, so you might prefer Janet Kellum instead.
From 45 on, I'm afraid there isn't a hell of a lot of choice. Crimson is out given your caveats. Maria Jenkins means fighting a lot of EBs -- you'll have to judge whether you can do that based on your build. Unai Kemen's arc barely has any story to it. You might want to do the high-level RWZ arcs (Gaussian and Dark Watcher) as well. The Vanguard in Gaussian's arc can be murder on melee characters, but I've found they're not so bad with a little forethought. -
I play pretty much everything. Current roster, including retired 50s: 5 defenders, 5 corruptors, 5 tanks, 4 controllers, 4 stalkers, 4 dominators, 4 brutes, 4 blasters, 3 masterminds, 3 scrappers, 2 peacebringers, 1 warshade, 1 widow, 1 crab. Yes, my signature needs updating a bit.

I think Mother Mayhem's Children of Anger (the ordinary citizens launching psi attacks) were in the pre-revision Maria. Post-revision, it's just more Seers.

I'm rather suspecting it'll involve Wade invoking Rularuu and villains once again having to set aside their plans to fight "for the greater good." Because the devs have only gone to that well at least three times, why not do it again?

With my peacebringer, I've discovered it's possible to cheat and get at least a bronze medal on the big slope, and a silver on the "expert" slope, using Flight and Quantum Acceleration (Afterburner for you non-Kheldian types). Being able to cut corners through the air comes in quite handy.

Ah, but see, the rocks are empowered by the Well. So therefore it totally makes sense.

Xorn is Magneto.
Carton sacrifices himself to let Darnay and Lucie escape.
Westley is only mostly dead.
Elric is killed by Stormbringer.
Brand is alive and helping Chaos invade Amber.
River Song = Melody Pond.
The murder was committed by everyone on the train except Poirot. -
I'm having plenty of fun in the game. Of course, I'm also ignoring Incarnates and everything related to them, which probably has something to do with it.

Mostly story arcs, whether from a contact or part of a zone. Sometimes tips and radios when I have nothing else to do on that particular character, or I just need a bar or two to level. Sewers only on very low level (<10) characters. Trials, raids, and task forces once in a blue moon. iTrials never.

Quote:After SSA 4, I'm suspecting "epic death" means that heroside, your hero is forced to stand by helplessly while Statesman dies, while villainside, your villain stands by and applauds politely while somebody else kills Statesman. No - the heroic ideal will continue to be Statesman - he'll still be the greatest hero in the CoHverse, even if he's dead - especially as the way he goes down is supposed to be pretty epic.
Of course, besides the STF and Maria's arc, this will mean having to rewrite the last arc of the VEAT storyline. -
Just wanted to say Instant Snowstorm is brilliant. Closest thing I've ever seen to actual weather in Paragon City. Shame it only lasts 10 minutes.

Quote:I had a similar experience -- room full of Rikti, everyone faceplants except me (ice/axe tank). Chat fills with people complaining about the mass faceplant and talking about what to do now, until someone notices me still hacking my way through the Rikti. And yes, I managed to wipe up the rest of the room with the team cheering me on.I was running out of the heal power, 22 purple freak tanks around me, when I saw green on my team screen. I held out a little longer then they stormed through the doors, focused fire on one after another freak and then we saw 'Trial Complete.' That was better than any badge.
