Content advice for my tanker, 40-50

Hi.

I've been playing nearly 8 years now, maybe more, I've lost count, and I've still only got 2 50s. I fogured I'd make an effort to get a third 50 and I was wondering which content to play through.

Casey Crockett, level 40 Shield/WM Tanker is the toon.

I don't like Malta or KoA. I hate Malta and KoA in fact.

I'll be soloing mostly. I don't mind doing a couple of DFBs to get me thru a fre bars, but I'd like to do some arcs too.

Any recommendations?

For the low 40s, I'd suggest trying Maxwell Christopher and Tina MacIntyre. The enemy types you'll be facing in their missions aren't overly resistant to smashing damage for the most part (and, in the case of Nemesis Jaegers, are even vulnerable to it). Admittedly, Christopher's story has some ... issues, so you might prefer Janet Kellum instead.

From 45 on, I'm afraid there isn't a hell of a lot of choice. Crimson is out given your caveats. Maria Jenkins means fighting a lot of EBs -- you'll have to judge whether you can do that based on your build. Unai Kemen's arc barely has any story to it. You might want to do the high-level RWZ arcs (Gaussian and Dark Watcher) as well. The Vanguard in Gaussian's arc can be murder on melee characters, but I've found they're not so bad with a little forethought.

34 heroes,
20 villains, Victory, Justice, Infinity, Virtue, Triumph, Exalted -- some more active than others

Cimerora has some arcs (I think). Should be fun cranked to +8.

No kidding. If there's one higher level arc that needs a revamp, that one is it.

Freedom
Blueside: Knight'Hawk, lvl 50, Scrapper
Yellowside: Dark'Falcon (Loyalist), lvl 20, Blaster

This. Be sure to get Anti-Matter from Tina's arcs or when you get to 50, you'll be wishing you had.

I have a 50 who must've missed it so far, and now she'll have to find someone 40-45 to go along with to get him.

With the Keyes Island Reactor Trial, this isn't as big an issue as it used to be.

40-50 is chock full of content. Westin Phipps, while mildly disturbing, is very funny and a good arc. Terrance Dobbs is awesome, and you get that sweet AoE Toxic power. And when you're 45 you get all kinds of good stuff like Vernon Von Grun, Veridian, and you get to kick Lord Recluse's helmet off.

Oh yeah, and it's worth saying: City of Villains >>>>>> City of Heroes.

PLUS 8 would be really impressive. Not to mention a pretty difficult setting to find. TIMES 8 is more your speed.

You can get him through flashbacks in Oro if you want.

Says you.

:P

But you know, now that old Hero-only ATs are available V-side, I might be coerced into looking at it a bit more seriously.

"Doing a couple DFBs?" Why not join in on an ITF instead? They're hardly slow.

Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

Great stuff, cheers for the suggestions. I'll deginitely try an ITF, but the DFB is so ludicrously easy-to-access with no wait, fast and easy it's hard to resist. I'm doing the Nemesis stuff from the guy in FF now. I'll try Tina's arcs too, I think I can handle an EB or 2.

RWZ is also on the list.

I thought most players just run council radio missions from 40-50.

I prefer a mix of radios and WST the xp bonus from the WST from 40-50 is a nice bump since leveling really slows after 40.

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

'most players'?

I think I'd go crazy if I just ground radios for the last 10 levels.

And out of idle curiosity, how come you list the ATs in your sig? Wouldn't it be more economic to just say 'one of every AT at 50' or something?

There's some nice arcs in that range, but may I also suggest writing your own arcs for AE? Give your character some personal adventures.

Also, I really like Maria Jenkins' stuff.

I have given up writing AE arcs until they fix the asinine profsnity filter. IE intil hell freezes over.

Profanity filter? How bad is it? I haven't run into it yet.
