    SSA 2 pt 5 when?

I just played the redside version, and man, that was a damp squib of an ending. Did I miss anything, or was there any indication as to who Lastri was talking to at the end?
  2. No idea. COH is the only MMO I've ever tried (unless you count Kingdom of Loathing and Second Life as MMOs); I've never had any interest in any others. I'm a Mac user, which limits my choices further as well. I have a couple friends who are into STO -- maybe I'll let them talk me into trying it.

So if someone doesn't have a lot of Incarnates, it's because they have an agenda and you can dismiss their opinion? Well, don't I feel silly for bothering to reply.

So from this thread I get the feeling that a +1/2 level shift or a T3 requirement of some kind would be a reasonable, if not very popular, requirement to gate future content.
It would be neither reasonable nor popular.

    4. Do you have any characters that you, for whatever reason, are not going to make Incarnates?
    * None.

    * One, out of 19 50s. One level shift, T2s in Judgment and Interface. Unlikely to progress further until new solo/non-league content is introduced.

    * None.

    * All of my other characters. My 50s are retired, and I have plenty of other characters to play.

The idea that you're not a real superhero unless you're an Incarnate needs to die in a fire. Follow the example of the Rikti invasion, where everyone, regardless of level, can participate in some way.

Maybe it's to go with Water Blast so you can do an Aquabats tribute.
  6. It always amused me that in the SSA, Recluse and his patrons come across as so much more competent and capable than the Phalanx. (Well, except for Black Scorpion inevitably blowing himself up with the tanks, but no one ever claimed Scorpion was a genius. Maybe they can trade him to the FP for, I dunno, Citadel.)
  7. All I can say is, I'm not gonna play Parkinson's Melee until they tone down the screen shake.

    /yes, I'm going to hell

Impressive combat pose. And even in that position, her rear is pointing backwards the way it does on people with normal anatomy, instead of twisted around to display the boobs-and-butt effect beloved of bad comic artists.
  9. Wonder how long it'll be before that image shows up on Boobs Don't Work That Way or Escher Girls.
  10. I know. I've actually waited until 42 before starting the Grandville contacts on a couple of characters, but neither of them were ever offered Forrester or Daos.
  11. I've been playing four or five of my characters through the lower 40s villainside, and I've noticed that none of them ever seem to get introduced to Dr. Forrester or Arbiter Daos, contacts-wise. When I do the bank mission for my initial Grandville contact, I get a choice between Phipps, Dobbs, and Korol. And then no matter which one of them I do, I only get introduced to one of the other two. I did get introduced to Mage-Killer Zuhkara once, but other than that I've been stuck with those three contacts until 45.

From Paragonwiki, I see that Dobbs at least should have a chance to introduce me to Forrester, and Phipps could introduce me to Daos or Forrester, but they never seem to. Is this just bad luck on my part, or is something going wrong? .
  12. I'm still laughing over the end of the first mission. I'm standing there in my crab spider armor, talking to my own freaking patron, and he's earnestly trying to make sure I'm cool with working with Arachnos...

A fun arc, and it's nice to actually feel like the protagonist again after the "sit back and watch the NPCs do stuff" of #s 4-6. I'm not looking forward to trying to run it on my mastermind, though.

I would not be surprised if SSA7 is longer than three missions. It's looking extremely likely that the final arc will be (ptui) co-op, and there's no rational story-based reason why it has to be -- most villains wouldn't *need* the "But you have to save the world" motivation to go after someone who cheated them.

I suspect it might be so the devs could fit in more missions without having to bother coming up with separate hero and villain versions. We'll see soon enough, anyway....

Yes. A staff infection is nothing to take lightly.

Like Penelope Yin on SSA 6 villainside. Boy, that was a fun fight. "I'm gonna just blow up all your minions, and then I'm gonna hit you with a hold that a single breakfree won't even dent..."

Add me to those who would rather not go back to the days when I had to run out and beg for a team because I was in the middle of an arc and my poor defender couldn't solo an AV.

I'd put my vote down for the unlockable SO stores, does anyone bother doing those these days?
If you don't feel like begging someone to open an O-portal for you, doing Holsten Armitage's mission will get you Entrusted with the Secret.

I'd say Viridian, if only because of what a colossal pain it is to get his unlock requirements unless you switch to rogue and go to Paragon.

I'm guessing that proof-reading didn't extend over Dark Astoria, huh?
You must not have played the villain version of SSA 5, where States tells Wade there's "no where to run," and Wade later gloats that it's "clich" for people to betray each other in the Rogue Isles.
  18. I agree about the KM AS animation -- the shortened version makes it look like I just do a little pushing gesture toward the enemy and most of his health bar suddenly disappears. It doesn't look like I even touch him. On the other hand, the NB version looks just fine.

And that's pretty much the only complaint I have. I've always loved stalkers and this has me wanting to make even more.

And yet, one of my villains murdered Miss Liberty in cold blood. And I'm sure other people's villains have killed her as well. But no one seems to be especially fussed about inconsistency there.

Even Wade will find himself a servant of these humanity-hating freaks.

A WISE villain knows when it is time to set aside his plans for whatever and fight along side those he battled for years. However, according to you, that should not be the case here. Okay, what do you want? Do you want your evil genius to destroy Wade, take over, and rule the Rularuu? What do you think Ruladak the Strong or Rularuu the Ravager will have to say about the matter?

So, what can you do if you don't want to "help" defeat Wade and his masters, the Rularuu. You going to sit on the sidelines and let the rest of the Heroes and Villains that join them fight the battle for you. While they are doing that, you going to rob everyone blind, get all the goodies you can? That is not the actions of a super villain. It is the actions of a thug and a coward.

Face it; this is a super hero/villain universe and game. From time to time, heroes & villains, for whatever reason, must join forces to keep their way of life alive and protected. This is the fact of this genre. You could just opt out of not participating in the final SSA and not worry about suffering through "being corn holed into 'the greater good' AGAIN." Then there would be no issue, you can ignore the results and motor on. You do not have to participate if you are tired of doing it because "it's the right thing to do."
Wow, another person who posts without reading the thread. Amazing.

Wade's Xanatos gambit made the heroes put Psyche into his trap. You're tracking down the heroes to make sure that the trap doesn't blow up Aurora-Psyche before Psyche dies. And really, that's all that WWD6 is about redside.
Having now done the redside version, I gagged on the bit at the end about how "the press isn't sure what to make of you" and how you might be able to turn this to your advantage by being the one to defeat Wade and use the ensuing public acclaim to further your schemes.

As a villain, I killed Miss Liberty in cold blood. I'm pretty sure the press knows exactly what to make of me. And seriously, when have Dr. Doom or the Joker or even Lord Recluse given a crap whether or not the public loves them?

Ogi, I consider the fact that the player is even on the scene at all of these major events to be a pretty large concession to player coolness. Look at any legacy arc: every single allegedly cool thing that happens happens in the mission debriefing because they didn't have the wherewithal to put it into the missions themselves and still release the game on time. I agree that the mood is pretty dire after part six, but if the options are "The devs want players to suffer because they secretly dislike them" or "The devs want to create a situation so bleak that it would take the king of all badasses to come in and save the hapless NPCs from themselves," do you really think they're going to go with option one?
Which allegedly cool things are these? I can't think of a single legacy arc that forces you into the role of spectator at the climax the way the SSAs tend to do. In the legacy arcs, you're the one who takes down Countess Crey, Nemesis, Dr. Vazhilok, the Kronos Titan, Hro'Dtohz, and more. You crash the final ceremonies of the Freaklympics and shut them down, you raid the Revenant Hero Project's lab and capture the head scientist, you rescue Sam Wincott. What you DON'T do is stand around wringing your hands while NPCs have it out.
  23. Can we schedule her some time with Arbie Fab first to talk about that costume? Because seriously, all she needs is a leather jacket over it and she'd have the epitome of horrible '90s-style costumes.

The story really doesn't set up these reveals as being... in any way significant. If they were originally low level mentors and contacts... yes. But, I don't see how anyone would be emotionally invested that this is spoiled.
Or unless I happened to do "The Evil Countess Crey" after this mission, since the arc assumes your character doesn't know who Julianne Thompson is. It's not "technically" a spoiler, it is a spoiler period. It's no different than, for instance, if a contact told me the Rikti were actually human before I'd even done "The Organ Grinders" or the RWZ.
  25. Speaking of spoilers ... I haven't run the hero side version yet, but on the villain side, DJ Zero tells you in passing that Julianne Thompson is Countess Crey. There's the setup for "The Evil Countess Crey" blown. (He also tells you that Vanessa DeVore is the leader of the Carnies, but that one has long since been spoiled by other new content.)
