Tough is all well and good but after DR is it as effective ?
DR doesn't hit it that hard, scrappers only start off with a pvp bonus of 10res... and as regen doesn't have any +res powers apart from resilience (which you don't take anyway) you will get the majority of the bonus from tough... if you've slotted tough and it gives around 17%, once DR hits it you should get around 14%...

Concealment does basically make it so you will have a hard time dying unless you get mobbed, you can take concealment and fighting though, fitness isn't needed at all.

Oh and about shout getting ya murdered, you don't have to use it unless you know its a good time.
Yah, awesome as a finisher in a blaster vs blaster.. I wouldn't use it many other times though, maybe in cargo map with kiting it behind boxes or in similar circumstances
  6. In a blaster fight it is still viable, just harder... Versing good blasters its a bad thing to be grounded too long because you will get knocked around like a rag doll which is why Sonic has a rough time... If you get a fast enough recharge on it, you can compete against other blasters with shriek/scream/shriek/scream instead of shriek/scream/shout... I've taken plenty of fire blasters and psy blasters on mine.

My flares have the Armageddon proc and chance for hold
  7. Psy/Em > Fire/Em > Sonic/Em

Psy beats Fire because of the placate proc... All the above Blasters are kickass though

    Quote:
    IMO:

Fire for 1v1 if proc'd out flares

Sonic in zones for taking out targets with decent +HP

Psy in zones for taking out squishies with the spike attack chain
Thats true too, they are all so close that it depends on the situation... 1v1 Blaster vs Blaster I would roll the Psy/Em though, those fights are fast paced (for I13lol) that the placate proc really damages in there... I am a fan of the sonic and fire in zone though... fire has some nice tricks if you can afford to pick up Rain of Fire, you can usually plant it on a hibernating ally and save them from a triple AS... also good for flushing out stalkers if you use the ranged split second sight on them... I dunno if that has a name.. and I love having the jumping snipe... and flares is just awesome... Funnest to play = Fire for sure
  8. I see now, I read it all but seemed to have missed the points somewhere in it... cool, thanks for clarifyin

    Champion PvP?

I know its not the most populated server. I only moved one toon, I've got several toons pvp ready that was kind of pointless having on the one server... I think this is server number 5... much easier to find action if theres 5 RVs to check >_<

To the poster: stay Fire/Regin. It's the besterest for regens now that Spines and MA are meh. MA is probably still the second best.
    everything can be "bet"

I actually just transfered my Corrupter to champion, and my first impression was very good... I was in RV for around 5 hours on the weekend, and there was no **** talk at all... Compared to my home server where you get abused for sneezing. I was very impressed with what your server had to offer.

I take it by score you mean kill count?... I also take it that this is a blaster arena fight then >_>
I can bring my corrupter, hes built for 3v3s... he just wont be any good if he gets into the final =D

    PvP of Liberty

We should have some events where we use some second builds.. i dont know about the other pvpers.. but most of my toons still only have 1 build... Lets see how people go if we are all using SO's? would be a good event for new people to come into aswell... so they don't get rolled by the kind of builds we play with.

    MA/Regen Build

Yeah, I don't play melee toons as much as squishies... But i've versed every type of scrapper under the sun.. I would much prefer to verse a Katana than an MA, the stun can be extremely useful
  16. I wouldn't start with a blaster unless you can put some cash into it, particuarly a Psy blaster... they can gobble up your endurance pretty bad unless you have a decent build.. Only roll a blaster if you are prepared to get rolled many times before you pick up the tricks in pvp... You wont die as easy on a brute/tank/scrapper... you will probably have more fun on a scrapper though... nothing like chasing someone on a brute or a tank, especially if you arent used to pvp movement... Regen scrapper for sure, they are tough with just SOs

A stalker is a good choice... they aren't "tough" so to speak, but you will learn pretty quickly when to come out of hide and when not too... you also have the option of overseeing the zone with 0 danger, helps a bit to familiarize yourself with the zone.
  17. Regens tougher for sure, But for Zone that isn't as useful as it would be in other places.. unless things are different on the servers I play on, Scrappers are rarely the first targets of the villains... Most of the time if the Villain Team do take out the Hero team, the Scrappers are the last to get taken down... Because they are tough yeah, but also because they are the last to be focused on... In zones if it comes down to that, Regens are tough but once the team is wiped out and the villains focus on your scrapper, regen or not you will most likely die... maybe have the chance to run back to base if thats your choice... Fire has perfectly good survivability in Zone so you will only get taken down fast if multiple villains are hitting you, it would take a decent player to kill you still solo, a lot longer than whats usually granted for someone to run around and kill you before one team wipes the other...

That being said its always handy to have a toon that can adapt to situations, if your zone isnt that populated and its say 3v3, then even if your team mates get wiped... depending on who your versing/where your fighting, you may be able to fend them off and keep the fight going until an alley comes back from the hospital... For that reason Regen is teh winner.

I've played Regen and Fire in Zones... Regen you feel a lot safer on, Fire is fun though and the damage is nice on a fire/fire... So long as the stalkers aren't SRs then blazing aura should flush them out... thats if your hunting them not waiting for them to AS you... Altho I would feel confident ASing a scrapper with Blazing aura if I had high defence... if the stalker is competent at it anyway.

    I ramble lots.
  18. Scrappers generally aren't as heavily targeted as say Blasters or Fenders... people will see a squishy and drool as its their chance to get a kill... So being a Scrapper you can usually assume you will be one of the last to die on your team... They can deal nice damage at times, and sometimes they can just be a distraction... yeah a BU crit on a scrapper rocks, but can't always guarentee that, and unless your FCing then you only get a few good shots in...

A good stalker should never die, not because it is a l33t AT, but because they can pick their own fights... This is the reason many people think stalkers are OPd, they simply just enter the fights where they are fairly sure they will come out on top... Stalkers solo aren't that good, if you're always ready to be hit by a stalker, you take away one of their biggest weapons.

So really they are both better than each other in certain circumstances, you can bet you will get a lot of kills on a stalker if you are in a team... Scrappers with webnade and decent damage help the team a lot also in killing and disruption, but you wont pull a kill count that a stalker would.

Solo, well putting them head to head, the Scrapper has a better chance at surviving, but usually I would put it down to a stalemate... most stalkers simply annoy scrappers 1v1, but the Stalker shouldn't be killed unless it hangs around to be killed or sits their dancing in front of the scrapper.

I don't agree with that statement. My stalker has put down some heavy toons. Its all in how the stalker plays. Can they stand toe to toe and fight prolly not. I like stalkers becasue there fun. We dish our dmg and leave. People get mad but oh well its all we have cause we can't fight toe to toe it would be impossible i say if you role a stalker go all out DMG DMG DMG DMG you always have hibernate or more important phase to save yourself and get out of there. This has made me almost unbeatable in RV on guardian server and my pvp rep is high. Its all in how you play the toon and how you want to play.

    Hoo-yaah villians
I am actually going to agree to this, but not as a reply to conflicts statement... it's all circumstantial... I get what everyones saying about how they have changed since i13... but the fact of the matter is a decent stalker can always pick his own fights, and can usually have a few tricks ready to get out of a tight spot... Today in RV there was one Stalker who has been PvPing for a while now and is probably one of the better stalkers on our server, he was alone verses 3 Blasters, psy/em.. arch/em and energy/em... He come out on top, All you have to do is be patient, keep prodding them, and eventually one will make a mistake you can take advantage of, when a stalker makes a mistake most of the time no one sees it because he did it in Hide... Yeah it took awhile, but what other AT can take on 3 blasters and come out on top... even if it did take 15minutes >_<... So yeah I agree and disagree with everyone because I can... Stalkers have been nerfd, but the thing that made them a stalker in the first place remains intact... It just may take more patience than pre13.
This is all my opinion anyway, I've played them both for years, and played against them both for years... agree or disagree as you wish.

Of corse you will get people coming in saying ones better because they own heaps of people on that toon... I have killed a dom with an emp before, that doesn't make the emp better. I know... i lol'd
  19. I think Virtue would be good at those times

If you are unlucky enough to be grounded in tar patch....TF will hit for over 500...they really are monsters to fight against.
20 seconds if you dont use BU and Aim at the same time, with DR there is very little to gain from hitting them both... If a Blaster can't kill a fender in 20 seconds, even with Darks big heal... then there is something wrong with the blaster... Between activation time on the Heal, PT on blaster, and with most Blasters coming with a Stun to knock Darkest night off, a Decent Blaster should always win. Although I myself have a Dark Fender, and they are deadly in most duels.

I'm thinking that a close range rad/em might be interesting.

BTW in my build I was kind of going for the "picking off almost dead enemies - flying blaster" role. Thats what influenced my decision to go with the [boost range] (so I could stay as far away as possible from people that could possibly hit me) and [proton volley] snipe power (hits from 280 ft away with br and bonuses - hoping it will allow me to stay high enough above the fight ad sj'ing people to be safe but still hit people.)
Flying Blaster's are very effective, especially in finishing off an opponent who hasn't spotted them above them. However I don't think Rad will be the best choice in primary if that is what you want to play. It's snipe while looks and sounds cool is actually a DoT which can be annoying, I don't know how the damage will be like on a blaster, but when I used it on my corrupter, half the time the person would have regen'd half their health back by the time all the damage hit them. A good primary to take if you want to be a flying sniper is archery, reason being is that all 3 ranged attacks you take have a base of 80ft ranged, whereas most of the blaster sets have 2 at 80 and 1 at 40ft.

Another advantage to being an Arch is its attacks aren't as visible, which may buy you a bit more time after hitting someone for them to find where you are in the sky, with anything else you can see clearly which direction the attacks came from.

If you wanted to stick it out with Rad however, then best to make use of its ability to be Proc'd out. If you look at the build above you, you will see he has slotted for dmg procs in Neutrino Bolt. Of corse, whilst procing you miss out on the opportunity to slot for +range from pvp sets. My Arch sniper has boost range + 45% range from sets and +range enhancers in the attacks, Whilst DR totally starts pwning all that i've added on there, every little bit helps =). Its fun to be hovering at the middle of townhall and hitting people under atlas afterall.

Can't really look too deep into it right now, but for most pvp blasters you will want to take 2 travel powers, usually ends up being Leaping and Speed... Or Flight and Speed. Aidself is also extremely grounding and is barely used anymore, any decent stalker will be right on you if you stop for that anytime. Cold epic is also the Favorite amongst pvp blasters, Hoarfrost, Hibernate gives good survivability..

The 4 powerpools I chose on a PvP Blaster ( and a lot of others do the same ) is Fitness / Leaping / Speed / Leadership. Whilst you could stick with that build, and keep phase or aidself... Which after badmouthing it, it can be used well with the right play style, I would still highly recommend getting Leaping pool to go with your ss.
