I'd like to know a basic PVP build for someone new to PVPing without billions of disposable inf. I was thinking of rolling a Stalker, but any sort of character would be fine.

well if you can't afford a lot, don't want to spend a lot of time on them because they are a starter, an easy button is always fun.

Psi/em blaster
Thug/pain Mastermind
Ele/therm cor (pure end drainer)
Mind/energy dom
EM/nin stalker

The last isn't really an easy button but you dont need to spend much.

PvP Redux is discontinued, for obvious reasons. Thanks to everyone who helped and joined.

Blasters are pretty simple to get into. As Sentry suggested, Psy/EM is a nice choice. Rad/EM would be fun too. The only problem with blasters is you need a bit of cash to slot some -kb IO's. Otherwise you'll be on your butt and frustrated more than you like.

You might also look into a Scrapper, Fire/Regen or BS/Regen are pretty popular, and they act similar to how they would in PvE.

Best way to get into PvP though is to find a group of friends that will head in with you and help you out. Teams make it so one individual is less frustrated at the score/deathtoll and more involved in helping eachother.

I'd go with a Tanker, Brute, or Scrapper if you're just starting PvP, because more HP and some defenses leave you a bit of wiggle room to figure out what's going on.

I wouldn't start with a blaster unless you can put some cash into it, particuarly a Psy blaster... they can gobble up your endurance pretty bad unless you have a decent build.. Only roll a blaster if you are prepared to get rolled many times before you pick up the tricks in pvp... You wont die as easy on a brute/tank/scrapper... you will probably have more fun on a scrapper though... nothing like chasing someone on a brute or a tank, especially if you arent used to pvp movement... Regen scrapper for sure, they are tough with just SOs

A stalker is a good choice... they aren't "tough" so to speak, but you will learn pretty quickly when to come out of hide and when not too... you also have the option of overseeing the zone with 0 danger, helps a bit to familiarize yourself with the zone.

Spines/Regin is a good starter toon that could be made cheaply. ss/fire brute and fire/ss tanker would probably also do fine on a smallish budget.
