  3. lol, the mods are out to get you anni... that and some random kid is going around reporting all your toons
  4. I've never experienced that kind of groundin on fireblast (w/o darkblast), on a blaster though it does have a longer animation time than on a corr... If you play both regular enough you will notice the difference and it will be a bit annoying.

If fireblast went as fast as a corrs, as much as i would like it, that would make them OPd.

    Edit: more op'd

It's not 9AM Pacific time yet.

That's the stated beginning of the event.
yet its double xp for everything else right now
  6. Yeah the moment I saw no change in AE i went and hit some pillboxes... I had a bunch of toons I was going to get to 50 too, but now I just cbb.
  7. I did see the notice, but to be honest running around on Lvl 5 martial arts toons isn't my idea of fun.. This would have been a miniature fightclub with 2 attacks. Then again to each their own, some people like that.

Before I13, a good player using a "bad" build could roll mediocre players using good builds (anyone remember when Silent Method brought an AR/Fire to kickballs and got kills on it, or when Ajax won a dueling tourney on an Ice/Sonic Corruptor?), because skill actually meant something. These days PvP comes down to who has more numbers and who has what character, because the skill gap is so much reduced. Oddball lineups don't really work anymore, because skill doesn't make a big enough difference to account for the discrepancies in build.
Ajax's Ice/Sonic was a defender wasn't it? Thats the toon he was playing just before i13 anyway...proves even more how l33t he was... A usual scene in Liberty RV was him on mind/fire dom taking on several heroes by himself... and winning.

Edit: I was thinking of his cold/sonic.... nvm

    Slotting Taunt

I thought taunt was auto-hit, at least thats what it says in combat window when I use it on my tank. I slot for duration and range

    Defender TK

to my knowledge it isn't perma like it was pre13, so long as the person had the endurance and didn't get held, they could keep it on all day... Now theres a timer on it..

Breakfrees will do nothing, but ID might lessen the time it takes for TK to drop, havn't tested it though.

(They say you dont get rep point but still the 5min cool down apply / any proof?!)

Ive heard story about you need to be inside 5 level difference of your opponent to have a chance of a drop , (rumor ?)

Well i hear a lot of stuff, but i cant confirm anything from the little experience i have.

I'm trying to find a guide but i guess my search fu is weak.
You can still get drops in arena, in rated AND unrated matches... Yes you don't get rep, but it's still on the same timer as in zones, which is every 5minutes.

Being inside 5lvls I believe used to be the case, I am not sure if it still applies... Never needed to test it.
  12. Fire/SS/Earth Tank and Ice/Storm/Ice Controller.

Winners were @Energy Torch and @Mr. Bliz
  13. Forts can be pretty darn nice still, you just have to invest a crap load into them... With a cold on the team buffing they are even better.

Also, timing the "longest hold" in PvP will be impossible. Considering a "long hold" is something like 8 seconds, compared to a short hold of 4 seconds, the difference is marginal, at best. And when you get one person with 8.3 seconds while someone else has 8.34 seconds, good luck timing that accurately.

Yeah, this sounds cool, but it should be done in a PvE environment, because that would offer a much bigger range of results.
Out of all the ideas I thought that one sounded the best, I dont think he just meant using a hold... its how long u can keep them in barrier, so laying down quicksand, using kb etc all included.

I don't really see it working in a zone tho, not freedom anyway.

Then it all got shot to ****. Test teams disbanded. Buffs meant nothing. Everything under the ******* sun was supressed. Whoever attacks fastest and does more damage wins. Defense, elusivity, DR on buffs, heals, inspirations, set bonusses, it's all ******* different. I hate it.

I never went back to the arena after they added in buttons and I've only trolled around RV just to get some practice on my stalker or hopped on a team with my thugs/storm.

The PVP rules suck, they're not documented anywhere and everyone understands different pieces of it or some not at all.

I'm glad it brought more pvpers in. Looks like Castle was right. Schmuck.
Mhhm, that's one of the biggest reasons a lot of new people don't get into PvP... The attempt to make it more friendly for PvErs infact made it much harder, as the system and rules completely change to what PvErs are used to... And not only are they changed, they aren't written anywhere for them to find out as you say.

I grudgingly got past the changes though, whilst PvP is no where near team orientated as before... It can still be a bit of fun. Just sucks a lot of toons which were viable pre13, are now almost useless in this system... I guess thats why we got AE farming before, a 50 in 4 hours solved that problem for me =D

    Justice PvP

Yeahhh, I am kinda on the same mind set... I like small arena fights... or a zone which doesn't have multiple teams camping one side of the other... My experience on freedom was I kill a few stalkers with my fire/em, next thing I know I have 6 stalkers constantly trowing sharks at me for the next hour... Whilst you can find good fights on freedom arena, to me the zone is wrecked unless your there for the drops.

Question is, will i get griefed if I go to Justice and use superjump... or inspies in arena fights etc... I would be down for maybe bringing a toon to fight.. but if I have regens telling me i have to go toe to toe with them on a blaster then I wont bother.

    Liberty PvP

Glad to see someones taking charge =D

As for what I would like to see...

Kickballs would probably be a good start, if you have two leaders who knows most of the toons then you can generally get a good fight, for all involved... The problem with letting people set their teams is you will get a team of veterans rolling everyone else... Not as much fun for new people.

That said, In the future I would like to see set team tournaments... Maybe even a League.

Being able to see RV zone get used properly would be kewl too... Having two sides at their base with all the turrets unclaimed and starting at the same time to take over the zone.

    P.S> Dandelo says HI!!!!! MUHAHAHA
Hax, lol I don't think it will be that bad seeing as the majority of those who had a problem with the last reps all play freedumb pvp now.

Liberty PvPers are so few in number the only way PvP on this server will survive is by getting more PvErs interested in PvP... Having someone like Infernal Marquis is a good link between the two groups I think.

With everyone moving to Freedom...now is the time to get new people into PvP without all the smacktalk and constant ganking... Your basically looking at creating a whole new PvP community.

I like the idea of the PvP 101 stuff. Once i've fixed my computer I will be available to help out if you want me to.

seeing as PvP is meant to be waiii different now, should it even matter how long they've played pre13?... Does it really get you off being such a tool? i mean come on... your opinion remains meaningless? I think one of the posts made a good point.. I'm thinking of smaller fights whilst others are thinking large KB... If you don't see how Assault is better for taking for 1v1's, 2v2s etc... then, your just arguing for the sake of arguing.. nice forumpvp skillz..

As mention several times in this thread now, Manuevers is useless on most builds.. +7.5 rech added to a blaster with base rech up in the 60-70's is going to do crap all. The only thing it would be useful for is as u said u add a kb IO, and try to find a space for another one.

as to my neck being long.. were u looking to borrow some?
  20. Popping Build up and Aim together back then was crazy too

The days of buffs were good times, not to mention the squishes now get res bonuses.. their base damage itself hasn't changed a huge deal... Altho yeah its been so long i'm beginning to forget... I miss one shotting with inferno :O, now there was a fun gimmick.

Everyone that knows what they're talking about has said manuevers, why are you still trying to argue a point?
Because I also know what I'm talking about?... err, been PvPing since i10... I currently have an arch/em, sonic/em, psy/em, fire/em, rad/em, fire/mm all slotted out... I must have made a total of 50 blaster builds since I started with all the damn changes... And simply because my opinion is against what.. 3 other people have said makes it not count? People cry about the placate proc heaps, yet with assault running it merely makes u lose target, u can get it back up the next second with barely a pause in attack... Then theres taunt resistance too... until someone gives a proper reason why maneuvers tops that then I'm going to argue the point.

That implies that they have another aspect now except damage? I played blasters long before i13 came as well, and to be honest they are killing just as fast these days as they did before... Maybe not in a team setting on spikes where generally they were buffed to the roof pre13.

It's a question between maneuvers and assault, I never said Assault was going to make your attack so much more powerful... But in a game where half the PvPers try to maximize their builds to the last % then yeah it's Assault that you want to take. You should easily reach the Recharge brickwall that DR gives, and Kb protection without having to pick up Maneuvers... and as you have to have one, why wouldn't you take the power which gives you resistance to placate and gives your attacks the added 7-8 more damage.
