The P.v.P.E.C. is a collection of players from multiple servers that are dedicated to enhancing the City of Heroes/Villains experience by helping plan, support, and run pvp events. Our shared goal is to complement our existing community projects through events such as zone pvp, kickballs, tournaments and various arena competitions.

Recently the P.v.P.E.C. has been taken over by new leadership. Sadly our last leader had to move on to bigger and better things in real life. Now myself and PerilX along with our very dedicated crew are looking to rebuild and expand the P.v.P.E.C. In order to expand and bring even more quality pvp events across all 11 servers we need more volunteers willing to help plan and run various pvp events.

No event planning experience is necessary. No pvp experience is necessary. All that is needed is a willingness to help and to learn about pvp events and the pvp community in general. We are a very relaxed and fun committee and hope that we can continue to bring quality pvp events to the City of Heroes/Villains Community for a long time to come.

If you are interested in joining our team please send me a p.m. here on the blue boards including what you would be able to do in order to help our committee and the server you would like to represent.

Thank you!

I thought the pvpec died or at least on this server.

hence the post requesting fresh blood to rejuvinate the spirit of it all

The thing is we went through this before the problem with the reps we had before was they didn't know anything about pvp and I still have trouble with a pvpec rep that doesn't know anything about pvp.

then let's change that. I'll admit I dont personally know a lot about PvP right now, but I am learning. And I'm also willing to take the time to breath new life into it on this server. I've done just about all there is to do in PvE and am starting to get bored with it. But the little PvP I have done certainly gets the heart rate up. So if there is anyone that wants to learn with me, I'd like to start sort of a "PvP 101" class in pocket d for new folks to learn the basics and get familiar with how the system works, understand slotting and compare builds, teach strategies, etc. I'd also like to start a "Warburg Wednesday" where, after we have some more people that are familiar with it and interested in it, we could hit up the different zones and just have huge knockdown-dragout brawls.

Hax, lol I don't think it will be that bad seeing as the majority of those who had a problem with the last reps all play freedumb pvp now.

Liberty PvPers are so few in number the only way PvP on this server will survive is by getting more PvErs interested in PvP... Having someone like Infernal Marquis is a good link between the two groups I think.

With everyone moving to Freedom...now is the time to get new people into PvP without all the smacktalk and constant ganking... Your basically looking at creating a whole new PvP community.

I like the idea of the PvP 101 stuff. Once i've fixed my computer I will be available to help out if you want me to.

well, i'd agree to help ppl learn. i'm have great experience with being ganked. But facing good ppl without the smack talk, i'm more than willing to keep at it. In every aspect of life, "you need to be willing to lose, to learn how to win". I'm here weekends most often and would be willing to spar.

Still needing help here on Liberty!

For those who don't know her, as she's not from Liberty, Critical_Kat is a wonderful person to work with. I worked with her in PERC for over two years. I highly reccommend PvPEC and Critical_Kat to those with an interest in PvP.

If Kat would come to Liberty I might even try PvP myself....

i can be nice too

and what would it take to get you to be interested in PvP (apart from an appearance by kat)?

Friendly opponents, no verbal abuse or insults. Just competitive fun and "good shot, you got me!" type stuff.

Which is extremely rare in the PVP community, however that said my best Experiences in pvp have been on Liberty server but that has to do more with the server IMO. Libertians are in general the most friendly as we are the nice server. As with everything I post YMMV.

I have a buddy who was doing PvP with friend and trying to get into it. The thing that kept discouraging him was that it was mostly 1 sided and insulting. I don't mean 1 sided in villains are better, but one sided in that it was usually 10 villains on 2 heroes or 12 heroes on 3 villains. All it did was discourage him, that and the feeling that his AT (Defender) was pretty useless in PVP. Contributed to turning him off.

Also the PvP in most games is just insulting. It is filled with primarily whiners who are the first to cry fowl if its done to them.

Example: I was in RV with a heavy in tow, taking out the pillboxes. A stalker rolled up on me, standing under the heavy! When he got plastered by me and the heavy, he cried for 10 mins in the zone. Talking about the heavy was cheating and tried his best attempts to berate me for it. Going on a long rant about PvP zones are for PvP and I should just leave.

Hell I even saw that same person with another constantly mess with 2 guys who were trying to dual. Even going so far as the chastise them into going into the arena if they wanted to dual since PvP zones were for PvP. But once heroes out numbered them and they started to lose the fights, they shut up and eventually left.

Hell I've seen groups of stalkers try and AS people as they coming into the zone and get droned but hope that they can take out that target before the drones get them.

Villains also still have a large advantage in PvP. Now this will change with GR but as it sits its very discouraging to some.

As for myself I have done some PVP in the arenas and zones. Some with friends some not, and I just don't care for the mentality. I do not mind the trash talking and encourage it but there is a line between trash talking and just being a baby. Sadly the later is more prevalant in PVP in just about every game, so its sort of "The Nature of the Beast".

I play a lot at night and would be willing to help you in your efforts tho. I see what you are trying to do and while I cannot stomach PvP for long intervals I would be willing to help. If it was with fun people then it itself would be fun.

Please note that my lack of fun simply comes from the tiring effect of chasing people bunny hoping around for 30 mins while I myself am bunny hoping from people chasing me. Guess I'm more of an arena fan.

Pvp would be nice again without the all the grief, I might be interested IF we get some real nice people that help and are willing to teach

i would be willing to pvp again if instead of continually adding buttons in the arena that got it more and more like the old system, they would just admit their mistake and scrap the whole revamped pvp. going into a zone and having the damage of your attacks change from everything you've known is a huge impediment to pvp. the different behavior of powers in pvp vs pve is ridiculous and needs to be laid to rest once and for all.

+1! I hate the different rules. I pvp'd on test before all the changes. I even made a thugs/ff just for PVP. I got all the accolades including FoN just for PVP. It was fun and was my first experience with organized pvp.

Then it all got shot to ****. Test teams disbanded. Buffs meant nothing. Everything under the ******* sun was supressed. Whoever attacks fastest and does more damage wins. Defense, elusivity, DR on buffs, heals, inspirations, set bonusses, it's all ******* different. I hate it.

I never went back to the arena after they added in buttons and I've only trolled around RV just to get some practice on my stalker or hopped on a team with my thugs/storm.

The PVP rules suck, they're not documented anywhere and everyone understands different pieces of it or some not at all.

I'm glad it brought more pvpers in. Looks like Castle was right. Schmuck.

i have so many characters that I never would have bothered with if it weren't for pvp. i have something like 15 50s with full accolades because of pvp. it is all so worthless now. seriously, when am i ever going to need to play my ff/elec in pve or my sonic/sonic? what do i need two emps for? my cold would still be some use but i didn't reactivate that account.

Mhhm, that's one of the biggest reasons a lot of new people don't get into PvP... The attempt to make it more friendly for PvErs infact made it much harder, as the system and rules completely change to what PvErs are used to... And not only are they changed, they aren't written anywhere for them to find out as you say.

I grudgingly got past the changes though, whilst PvP is no where near team orientated as before... It can still be a bit of fun. Just sucks a lot of toons which were viable pre13, are now almost useless in this system... I guess thats why we got AE farming before, a 50 in 4 hours solved that problem for me =D
