  1. In another MMO I play, there's a guide to canon uniforms/costumes (the MMO is based on a TV show that has a plethora of "real" uniforms to recreate). I was wondering if anyone had any costume guides for "canon" uniforms as seen in City of... I know there's been attempts at recreating Arachnos uniforms with the VEATs, but any other groups?

I didn't "rush in", I thought I might use it when Time Manipulation came out. Also, it's on the Pinnacle server.

I am aware of this, but I think there's also a bit of opportunism - I mean, heck, why not try to get something out of it, right? If no one bites, I'm just going to release it. Besides, at least I didn't intentionally grab names specific to certain people.
  3. I like the idea in general. Even if it's not implemented in the exact way suggested, it would be nice to be able to "shelve" old characters, so they keep their badges or whatever, but still be able to use their name without deleting them.

As for people saying that if it had buffs it would "punish" or otherwise take from people who didn't do it, I would view it more as giving to people who did do it, rather than detracting from those who didn't. However, I think that whatever bonus it did have should be minor enough that it's not "essential" to gameplay. Maybe a small power, usable every ten minutes, based on the previous AT.

I think the person mentioning the store meant the Paragon Market - real money. I wouldn't be against that, as long as it didn't have any buffs or what have you associated with it (pay to win is no good). I prefer the idea of earning it in game, though, just because I am of the opinion that the store should be more for cosmetic items rather than functional things, but that's just me.
  4. But what happens when a third party store offers game time cards for cheap? I know that's how I've subscribed for a while: about $19 for something that would normally be $30. I guess that's alright for subbing, but what about getting points from a cheaper card? I doubt NCSoft'd want that.

If you could encapsulate that idea with some in-game rationale it be more logical. Perhaps actually joining the Midnighters and running in Midnighter mode, or when running secret missions for Vanguard (which, since they're secret, won't give you any influence/infamy).
I think the best way to give it an in-game rationale is to connect it to SGs again - not every character would want to work for Vanguard or whoever.

Just make it a super-SG mode - enter Super-SG mode, and you get NO influence, but double (or more) the rate of prestige. Possibly with improved drops.

*edit: should probably read the whole thread before I post. This is just Arctis_Princess' idea.

I noticed it, but I really like the idea.

Also, there was a Firefox add-on I had a while back that would transform every word on the screen into a jumble, but you'd still be able to read it.

I like this idea! This whole thread is great.

I agree with the Hero Corps suggestion too; at the very least, the Galaxy City rep should be somewhere in the tutorial (http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/File:F...yst_Galaxy.jpg)

That is kind of a bummer. I wonder if the fact that names are also reserved when you check has anything to do with that - they don't want people reserving names if they don't have a free slot?

Edit: Wolf Spider Huntsman is available, as of this posting. If you like Arachnos, why not?
  8. I am 90% sure that when I created a new character last night, it was available... I'll have to check. But I'm probably misremembering if it's a known issue.
  9. In the tutorial, the description of the Shivans says they were thought destroyed in the 1950's - however, the official site says it was 1989: http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/game_i...ary/shivan.php What's up with that?

Although the rules of conduct do say there's to be no soliciting, I would argue that asking for in game items (influence) is perfectly fine, since there's a whole forum dedicated to such usage.

  12. I grabbed the name Dr. Time in anticipation of the Time Manipulation set... who wants it, and what will you give me for it? Don't worry, I'm pretty cheap.

I'm not in a particular hurry either, I was just wondering if it was somehow because time cards had their time calculated differently or something.

Speaking of time cards... can we still sub with them? I haven't found evidence to the contrary...
  14. So I've been away from the game for a while, but decided to resub for a bit before Freedom to get some points. I did so in August, which I had understood to mean I would only get 400 points (for one month). Even if it were loosely translated to mean 800 points (August and September) that doesn't explain how I ended up with 1200 points. The only thing I can think of is that I used two 60 day time cards to subscribe... but of course that's 4 months, so that math doesn't add up. Basically I'm confused how I came to have more than 400 points.

I thought that was more for the remaining monsters and diseased areas, but I guess you're right. His official bio (http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...yrant-bio.html) says it was contained rather than killed.

As for the Kheldians: excellent point. I wonder how much of this is/was known to the Kheldians currently on Earth (other than Twilight's Son [who is arguably not on Earth?]).

I get the impression it's because the Battalion has world destroying capabilities. The Shivans take whatever they crash into and use it to form themselves (or something like that) so it seems likely they would devour the biosphere & Devouring Earth.

Is that what we're being told?
I get the impression that the well is trying to create a bunch of powerful being under Tyrant's command from what GG said Prometheus said, with Tyrant the most powerful. Prometheus wants to have many beings as powerful as Tyrant, just in case that plan fails - and he's stated multiple times that he thinks it will.

I always got the impression that Nemesis, having caused the Rikti war, indirectly caused Humanity (and the Rikti) to be weakened by the fighting in that series of conflicts - and thereby indirectly caused them to not be strong enough to withstand the Battalion. Nemesis wasn't too happy about that, and created Ouroboros to right that wrong.

Why don't all the powerful heroes of Praetoria rise up to fight Hamidon? Because they think it's dead. Sure the truth is revealed to players, but from what I understand everyone thought Hamidon was dead after the confrontation with Cole.

But there is one thing I don't get: why Primal Earth? The Battalion apparently had contact with the Rikti, in another dimension, but Prometheus says they scour Primal Earth. Plus, the Well is obviously present in many dimensions. I don't get it.

As a corollary, why Earth? As the Well is apparently the being behind Merulina's power, clearly it has power beyond this one planet... unless this one planet is all that's left, other than the Battalion?

Speaking of the Rikti vs. Battalion... why not just let the Rikti defeat the Battalion again? They've done it before... unless, like I said earlier, they're too weakened by the Human/Rikti conflict... Or perhaps the Battalion they faced were merely dimensional scouts - explaining how the Rikti faced them when the Battalion is apparently Primal only, and why it stays Primal only (the other dimension proved too tough for the time being).
  17. Are they random passwords, or other passwords from NCSoft game accounts or something?

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that does something like that. I tend to have a thing for symmetry, so I'll compulsively bid something like 10,500,501 on an item. My sell prices are symmetrical as well, but no one sees those.

I agree! I've worked up to 200 million now, mostly through rare recipes drops, and the occasional "buy low sell high" on stuff like that, but I haven't yet gone in depth playing around with the market. If I ever get the time to do so, this thread will have interesting things for me.

I agree! And let's not forget the Freem shirts - I somehow didn't get one at Comic Con '08, and I still haven't forgiven myself.

You stated that you have to fill up an entire tier in order to move to the next one. To me, that seems to defeat the purpose of "picking and choosing" our rewards. Any chance that this will change before Freedom goes live, and if not can you give the reasoning behind this. Why do we have to fill up all the tiers in order to move on to the next?
I can grasp why we might need to fill up one tier to move to the next, but it does indeed defeat the "Freedom" part of that system. Perhaps only require a certain amount of each tier to move up?
  24. Huh, I haven't had this issue at all. I'm using Firefox 5.0 on a windows xp computer at work, and google Chrome on a vista computer at home, with no problems at either place.

I do recall a time (a LONG time ago) when it was an issue, but for whatever reason the forums work fine for me.
