  1. Easy fix. Delete stuff in CoHtest folder. Copy Coh Live stuff into CoHtest folder. Delete checksum file and patch update file. Run the test server updater, wait 45 min to 1 hour for it to fix files and you are back in business. Just be sure to watch the piggs folder, watch to see if its deleting files. If the number files starts to go down then you know its not going to work and you might have to do it over.

It'll eventually have an XP compatible mode, by running XP on a virtual machine. This requires CPUs that can handle virtual machine emulation in hardware, not all Intel CPUs have this, and it will be a download from Microsoft and not come on the install disks.

[/ QUOTE ]Not to mention it doesnt run 3d applications like CoH. So virtual xp isnt a solution here, even if it was it would still be dog slow. I have actually been running virtual xp and virtual vista on my windows 7 box. While it is impressive there is still alot of stuff it just cant do. I am mostly testing it out for deployment of custom made images.

    Damage auras?

I recently started 2 brutes one dark and one elec. I am just amazed at how if you leverage the damage auras you can actually save a ton of endurance at the lower levels. Right now though my concern is surviving the beating I take until the minions die. I just wish they would make a defensive set with a damage aura that wasnt fugly as hell.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the level adjustment from MA only apply when you're inside the mission, just like The Pilgrim's missions that set you to level 1 and 25?

[/ QUOTE ]damn it, I think you are right. Thats gotta suck then damn it devs think of everything.
  5. I think what they would do is block the power choice if you get it in one you cant get it in the other pool. They already done something similar with venom grenade that the Spiders get.

Been running a fair amount of CoT missions on my Brute (Mage-Killer arcs) and I've noticed it seems enemies run away alot less then they did before. Before what you ask? Maybe I14?

Now, I brought up fighting CoT for a reason. Among this group is the Air Thorn Caster (IIRC) and they are notorious for always running away, at least in my experience. However, not so much anymore. It seems they stand in fight and every once in awhile will try to flee but turn around instantly to attack again.

Was the AI of mobs "fixed" to stop them from running as much?

Anyone else notice the lack of running critters?

[/ QUOTE ]Nope, if anything its worse especially on the range only critters. Its like if there is any inkling that the range critter might be defeated they take off running. This sometimes happens way before his buddies are defeated instead of right when the last 1 or 2 are about to go down. Its getting to be annoying to the point where I am actually considering getting range attacks in the epic pools for my melee toons. Nothing I hate worse than runners. Hell even taunt doesnt bring them back. And dont get me started on the ITF where half the spawn runs away. Even the new TF on test server this happens with the ambushes too.
  7. Nice vids, I just wanted to know how you manage to not get hit often or how you kept her held for so long. This must be a perma-dom only thing right???
  8. Just a little update since I started this thread. I started about 10 or so alts in preparation for issue 15. So far none of the new toons has gotten one. I do for see with the addition of the new MA features it will make for some good hunting for stalkers. Being about to custom set your level and then just go to a zone where you are +3 to the bosses means you just clean house killing greens.

    Re-Rolling

Of those choices I would go with caltrops. If you slot for procs and damage/slow set enhancements it actually becomes some pretty nice damage on teams with big groups of enemies when you are in the middle of things. The only way I would get water spout it would be for av battles only because with avs you dont have to worry about the scatter. Holds I dont even bother with because of the recharge to duration penalty non-support ATs get. It just makes them so not worth it. As for hibernate, I wouldnt bother with it either, you could have just used retsu and you could still be fighting.

I've played BS/Regen, BS/WP and BS/DA. Both my BS/DA and BS/WP got to 50 not issues and had tons of fun. My BS/Regen is still stuck at level 37 because after player her for an hour I have to log off in disgust.

[/ QUOTE ] This is pretty much how it happens for me too. Dying multiple times to bosses I know the other sets could easily handle is where I have a rough time with this set. It just doesnt seem fair or right at times. I have tried much of the different build advice but the end results keep being the same. Many people here keep saying regen is so much better over all but thats just 90 seconds of time provided you dont get 2 shotted anyways. Playing on teams I have yet to see a regen outlast a WP scrapper with common IOs outside of them using instant healing.
  11. To me its all going to depend on what you are fighting. For avs and such it might be better for the sets with resists or defense because regeneration or click heals might not be fast enough to handle the insane damage. Now if you see critters with hella debuffs then this is were regen can pull ahead quite a bit. As for as dark I only seen them perform well in the end game during the ITF final mission. Any other time they get slaughtered by avs if there is no tanker to hold aggro. I remember going to test server to test out one of the stalker changes. We got a group together for the LRSF. This was when stalker AS could lop off 9% of AV hit points at a time. Eventhough the av didnt last 10 seconds pretty every time it was either the dark armor or regen that got killed first. While the defense sets didnt.

Single powerful card not always better that weaker sli - the 295 Nvidia's top of the line is just two 260's (granted 55 nm 260s) slaped together on one card...and it's 500+ bucks. I can get two 260's for 125 a piece these days ;P - and since I got the good power supply when I built my rig - I am going to do just that and use a 8800gtx as a dedicated physx card - FREEM!

    [/ QUOTE ]
The GTX 295 has two GTX 275 GPUs, not GTX 260s. And I was talking on a per-pricepoint basis. If you spend $300 on a card, it will, generally, outperform two $150 cards in SLI.

That said, I wouldn't bother with anything nearly that powerful for City of Heroes, since only one of the three graphics cards in the system will actually be necessary (the second GTX260 in SLI won't give much of a performance boost if any, and the dedicated PhysX card will do absolutely nothing). Is there some other game you have your eyes on to play with this rig?

[/ QUOTE ]I couldnt agree more. To the OP just save yourself some grief just get a Nvidia card 200 series that is 260 or better and you can pretty much run the game set to the max. No need fooling with SLI setups since you get little or no benefit. As for the ATI thing this one is kind of obvious, just whose logo do you see at the bottom of the page? Nvidias of course. Until they fully support both sets of cards stick with Nvidia. I got a system with an ATI card in it at work and it runs the game like crap most of the time and the water textures are borked with the reflection effects, this is with vista and windows 7 and the latest drivers. Lack of support for ATI in this game is the only reason why I couldnt go with an all AMD system in my home rig. I got the 260 at home and it runs excellent at max settings.
  13. It doesnt work like that. Each AT in the game has AT modifiers. These change the values of the powers. Typically scrappers/stalkers/brutes get 75% of what tankers get.
  14. If I do take it on a shield scrapper its going to be near the end of my build. I cant see taking it early. I just wish there could be done to the set to make it easier to level up. Pre-IOs sets has been a nightmare for me.

    Cottage Rule

Basically no power will ever be ripped from a set replace be a different power. Or no power will have its functionality changed to the point where its an entirely different power. To me the rule stinks because there are so many powers in this game that just flat out blow. Ideally I would make all sets so good that there would be no bad powers, or should I say it would be extremely difficult on players on choosing which powers to skip.

    /Dark sucks?

Maybe he means sucks alot of endurance? I will say this its the most endurance intensive set I have ever played. I just wish there was a little more leeway with the endurance costs.

Okay, in that case, let me pose a second question.

Should custom MA critters give more xp/tickets if their difficulty is set higher? The idea seems to fit in well with the dev's idea of risk vs. reward. More powers to use means more risk to the player, so a larger reward seems logical.

[/ QUOTE ] But I think the Devs have made it quite clear that AE is not intended to be a place to earn rewards, but a place to tell stories.

[/ QUOTE ]This I disagree on. I think people are taking what the devs said out of context, if it wasnt meant for rewards then why give tickets at all or why give xp/inf at all? Its meant to be another alternative for content because the devs simply cant keep up with player demand.

Now let me ask you all this if custom critters with more powers dont give more reward then how about the inverse? Lets say you start to take away powers shouldnt the reward go down? Like if a person wanted an elite boss fight with multiple elite bosses couldnt the player just create one custom critter that has all support abilities and just his nuke to support the other harder elite bosses in the spawn (think pocket empath/thermal for the ebs)? I think players should be able to make those kinds of critters they just have to give said critter an xp/inf/ticket penalty. Make him worth 1/10 of what the others would give.
  18. Pretty much everytime I zone into faultline or zone into a mission or sg base from faultline I detoggle. It was happening all night on the protector server. One thing I noticed that everytime it happened I got a huge lag spike. I usually play with the netgraph up and I was getting big chunks of red whenever I zoned and detoggled.

Boy how my opinion changed.. For a long time I wanted to see things from the heroside come over to v-side (which was done). But now I'm crying the other way.

I REALLY REALLY wish I could pick up some kind of heroic equivalent to shadow meld for my regen scrap. I've got this awesome concept on a stalker which I think would be amazing in the hands of my regen scrapper thanks to different HP levels and such..

Sadly, it may not be meant to be.

That's all. Just wanted to share my thoughts..
Shadow meld into the dark mastery set plz!

[/ QUOTE ]Give stalkers conserve power and focus accuracy and you got yourself a deal.

So yeah, I'm gonna say those accolades make a big difference for Will Power.

[/ QUOTE ] I make it a point to do this on every WP toon when I can. Its just hell getting folks together for Positron though. What I usually do is level pact a toon on my friends account to slow down the xp gain enough to do all the content to get the merits then use the TFs to level to the next level range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You do know that you can turn off your XP in the options till you want to level and dont have to level pact to do it.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah but why waste all that beautiful xp? Its better to level up 2 toons instead of one.

  22. For me I am going to say claws/wp. So far this set has been kind to me especially on the kill speed. While survivability isnt the best early on I know what its capable of in the later levels which will allow it to pull ahead when the time is right.

I thought lvl54 custom boss mishs were the new meow....

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you can farm those solo my hats off to you. A spawn of 8 hits for about 5000 points on the alpha. Then its slow going to get through them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
People are doing 51 bosses in my experience. They're much faster to cut through so the exp/time ratio is way better than trying to tackle 54s, regardless of whether or not you can take down 54s.

[/ QUOTE ]This is what I constantly tell everyone, lvl 54s just arent worth the time. I usually end up quiting teams that fight stuff that high. Unless you got a ton of support toons it just doesnt work well and you end up with more xp debt than the extra xp for the kills would have been.

I'm also a lover of Gaussian's CFBU in FU. Same goes for Decimation: CFBU in focus.

    Good stuff.

Oh yea.. and Achilles' Heel: CFDamresDebuff in slash.

[/ QUOTE ]I was going to also ask about the last one because I have this in the similar attack on my dual blades stalker and it does the debuff on all critters around me when I do the sweep combo. I was wondering will it proc often as a single target attack instead?
