Damage auras?

wondering just how they really work. you know like the one "blazing aura" i think it is for fire sets.
Will they build fury just for every hit they do? Will they taunt nearby enemies? I need more fury generation and taking a little more aggro would be good too.

They taunt and are very efficient at doing damage, relative to attacks from your primary. They do not, however, build any fury.

ty taunting is good enough! (They do it well? Maybe i wont even need to take taunt?)

The power Taunt enables you to attract attention from enemies that are not within melee range, so you don't have to spend time chasing them or losing a decent position. Damage auras will generally prevent enemies from running away from you towards someone else, but not much beyond that.

While here i would like to ask about other auras. Specifically Im playing a Dark Brute. Will powers like the one that is an AoE fear help in missions full of lts and bosses? What about the disorient one?

Thankyou for the help!

I don't have experience with a DA brute, but I have a DA scrapper at 50.

Neither Cloak of Fear or Oppressive Gloom affect LTs or bosses. What they DO do is take minions out of the fight so you can beat on the LTs and bosses without having to worry about them. If you take Dark Armor on a brute I would say pair it with a primary that builds fury quickly, as minions will not be attacking you to build it for you.

Brute cloak of fear DOES work on LTs, bit odd really

Would that make it worth taking and slotting on a Brute? I've always avoided the power on my scrapper, because really, at mag 2, what's the point?

Virtue:
Miserya - 50 EM/ELA Brute (Perma-shelved)
Adriana Rayne - 42 Katana/Dark Scrapper
Cyberpulse - 26 Super Strength/Willpower Brute
Steel Heart - 24 Invuln/Super Strength Tanker

(1) If you're playing DA, get the Theft of Essence +End proc in Dark Regen ASAP. It has one chance to proc off *each* enemy hit.

(2) On topic: my CoF vs. OG comment on another thread:

I agree with Frost that most of the time neither mez toggle is needed. But on those occasions when you do want/need it - CoF is far more powerful, and end management is easy w/ IOs. Especially for a toggle that you don't run 24/7.

Also my build is posted here, along with others in the thread.

I guess no one here slotted Cloak of Fear for tohit debuff?

...

I hope I'm not the only one with 5/6 Siphon Insight In Cloak of Fear.

Iirc, Castle has stated that is a bug.

I recently started 2 brutes one dark and one elec. I am just amazed at how if you leverage the damage auras you can actually save a ton of endurance at the lower levels. Right now though my concern is surviving the beating I take until the minions die. I just wish they would make a defensive set with a damage aura that wasnt fugly as hell.

I went 4/6 Cloud Senses in the build linked to my previous post, mainly for the recharge bonus. I had 5/6 Glimpse of the Abyss in a previous build.

Having tried both, I see it as a toss up. Fear slotting increases duration noticeably, and -tohit benefits a defense stacking build with 2-3 extra percentage points of "defense"*. Both helpful, neither crucial.

*Assuming you aren't fighting an AV with massive debuff resistance, etc. And yes, I know tohit isn't defense.

There is a recharge bonus?! Mmmm! I'll have to look at this. I could use a bit more +recharge bonuses. I have 6 slotted powers with PvP recipes for my +recharge bonuses.

On a more positive note, I am a Dark/Dark Brute. I have seen players not take the damage aura when I check other /dark brutes' powers, but I can't see why not. It helps TONS when I have my fury going. I put two Hamidon Enhancements, damage/accuracy, and one endurance cost IO.
