  1. Yar, indeed. It's easy enough with a diverse team, but the players have to stop overestimating their character's abilities. I may try again sometime this week =)

  3. Right, so my second attempt at this badge. First time was pre-patch, when the green mitos during the Hamidon encounter were Uber hax, and unfortunately we couldn't get through without dying =(

    This time though, they can be held easily and people are reporting that hamidon is easier overall, so I'm sure we can do this!

    I'll be wanting to do this at about 7PM EST, but i'm flexible for time.

    I'd like to get as varied a team as possible: melee, ranged, buffs, debuffs, soft control, hard control... anything to help us survive. if i were to list preferences, I'd want another Mind troller or dom on the team to stack confusion on the EBs. Sonic/FF and emp/pain for buffing, Rad or Dark for debuffs... still, as long as i don't get 7 stalkers with unslotted defenses, I think we can make anything work =)

  5. Yeah, i don't mind missing when i'm launching a bunch of attacks at a bunch of enemies, and i'm surrounded by explosions and allies and foes and all sorts of stuff and it's chaos and all that...

    But if i'm holding still, take the time to build up, aim, and fire a snipe at a stationary target... and i MISS... That cheezes me off! I think the Devs should look at removing or reducing the 5% chance for certain situations. Even if it means lowering your defense because you're distracted/focused or whatever to balance it out.
  6. Transfusion accepts End Mod Enhencers because it saps endurance from an enemy and CONVERTS it into HP; you don't get any end from it, though.

    However, the sapping is so minimal that even 6-slotting End Mod IOs will only sap like 25% of their end bar (compared to ED capping Transference will sap an enemy's ENTIRE end bar)... and doing that means no accuracy, heal, or recharge in it and thus making the power completely ineffective for what it's meant to do. Trust me, I've tried this on both my Kins and it's nto a very effective way to go.

    However, it DOES make for decent sapping in PvP. Fins someone at ~75% endurance, hit them with transference, then transfusion, and it should bottom out their end bar (assuming you have at least one end mod Enh in transfusion).

    I'm having a slightly similar problem, but I've been at it for a while so perhaps i can help. Do you know what you WANT your base to look like? Is there a certain feel you're going for, or are you just randomly placing/stacking items and hoping that they look cool?

  10. Just set up an untimed arena match with some of your sg members (I think that's possible...), like 5v5. Have one side just kill the other. EACH KILL that anyone gets will count as a tick towards your badge. So if you have five on five, each member of the one team would "only" need 50 kills. Assuming the other side just afks and doesn't resist, you can rack those kills up in under an hour.

    Granted, this requires 10 sg members, 5 of whom are willing to just sit and die a lot, or 5 sg members and 5 random people willing to stand around and die a lot...

    And it doesn't solve the problem of not wanting to engage in PvP...

    Which server are you on? I'm sure a few base builders sympathize and are willing to roll some alts and kill an hour (while they get killed) to help you get your badge. I'd certainly be game for that.

    ..Hypothetically speaking, if the devs REALLY felt like it, they could raise the level cap to 80-something and allow us to take and 6-slot all 18 pri/sec powers, all 4 powers from any 4 power pools and all 5 powers from our APP (though several slot levels would have to give 3 slots instead of just 2).

    But again, there'd be little point in this. Most people would be "stuck" with an extra tray and a half of powers they never use and then, assuming a fully tricked build with all the best IOs and Incarnate levels and goodies... THEN what? You run into the exact same problem as you have now, except there's no way at ALL to advance your character. There'd be even LESS point to another level cap raise.

    Best thing to do is not even get into that situation in the first place.

    ... Though I would be amendable to a comprimise. Extend the level cap to 100... but with NO advancement or change in challenge or content past level 50. Levels 51-100 would just be an indicator of how much stuff you've killed. You get a million XP, you do the "level up" thing, your level says 51... but no training, no new enemies, nada. Your combat level is still 50, but you can still feel like you're "advancing". Though this also would eventually stop and people would want another level cap raise.

    I bring this up because aside from WoW (which if it wasn't related to a beloved franchise and backed by one of the most celebrated game publishers in the world would have probably died a horrible death by now), this is an MMO, and that means it's entire SCHTICK is the "Carrot on a stick" mentality. But at level 50, you get the carrot and you're left feeling unfulfilled because there's "no reason" to continue going on. You spend all that time getting addicted to the sensation of being rewarded and now you're cut off. Gaining more money to buy stuff to trick yourself out works, but that's a self-set goal and not something automatically granted by regular gameplay. There's no guarantee of a purple dropping after 1000 enemies. You don't get a level up explosion and a plethora of inspirations in the middle of a tough battle, turning the tide. The game itself no longer rewards you, and people want that experience back if/when they continue to play.

    ..which is why you roll an alt. So mweh.

    Seriously, except for the odd decision to use brick walls in a star base, this totally rocks! And it's given me some inspiration for my space-SHIP project, so your timing in posting this couldn't be better!

    I love the living quarters, Ion gun and Robot... pretty much all the things that looked like they had to take a lot of forethought and time to actually do. You put a LOT of effort into this, and it shows!

    What server is this on? I'd love to take a tour, if such a thing is available!
  13. I figured i'd post my build, for an alternate perspective...

    As you'll see, i'm not trying to softcap. My main goals were recharge and Psi resistance, and making a well-rounded character. Still, i end up with almost 90% S/L res, 32% Def with 1 foe in melee range, and a decent amount of regeneration. If there's anything I can't handle, I have accolades and i'm not afraid to use inspirations. Bonuses to recharge and accuracy mean I'm able to use Vet attacks as a reliable part of my attack chain. True, damage isn't great, defense and regen could be better... But hey, I've survived everything the game's thrown at me so far, so it can't be that bad!

  14. Ninja Pirate: yeah, i know about stacking.. but i don't know WHAT effect i wish to achieve, is basically my problem. I have this.. functional skeleton of a base and i don't know how to make it look like a "ship". I've pretty much added tech clutter where i could and it looks.. well, really dumb!
  15. So, I've been trying to make my solo SG base into a spaceship looking thing. But I've been having a few difficulties really getting the "feel" across.

    One problem is "doorway rooms". Those giant blocks of space that you can't put anything into.. it really breaks the visual continuity of the base. Is there anything i can do to work around this?

    Also, I'm unsure what textures/colors to use. I'm using one of the Tech options, light gray, but it still doesn't feel right.

    I saw that a couple people have made space STATIONS... however i don't have enough room to make windows to see "outside", so i'm kinda stuck there.

    But most of all, many of my rooms are simply boring. Here's the whole kit and kaboodle:



    As you can tell, there's not a whole lot about it that screams "star ship!" aside form having what is obviously a Bridge.

    It's funny that you listed the secondaries in that order, as that's pretty much the order on the scale from pure buff to pure debuff... for instance, FF has the most team buffs with a few attack/repel powers, while TA is ALL control and debuffs, with everything else in the middle.

    Now here's the thing: Ice's secondary effect is -speed and -recharge. Do you want to stack this effect to neuter foes, or would you rather debuff other aspects as well?

    Also, here's the big thing about Ice: it's AoE hold is actually a PBAoE, so if you ever want to use it, you want a secondary that will either get you in close or take advantage of your proximity to foes while you're in there. Arctic Fog from cold would fit the bill for getting you in, while Rad has 2 PBAoEs. Storm Summoning might also be a good secondary for this (as well as being thematically compatible), but i see that's not on your list.

    However, i don't have a lot of experience with Ice or most of the secondaries you've listed, so take my post with a grain of salt. Hopefully someone who's more knowlegable will come along and offer some advice =)
