Yes.

I find that the best path involves doing it all. Ticket runs, purple farms, and fishing for merits on TFs and story arcs. This diversifies your portfolio, protects you form odd swings in the market, and keeps it interesting by mixing up what you are doing and avoiding burnout.

I do my AE tickets for bronze rolls, sell the junk, use left over tickets for some common salvage, and bid for the rest. Then I'll go look for a TF or story arc while those fill. If I get filled up on inventory or market slots, I'll go play another character for a day or two. Either start a farm on my 50s or level up a lowbie.

I find it's fun and keeps the game entertaining by mixing up what you do all the time

This....

The RNG has had it out for me lately so I just mix it up and roll the t1k3ts and beat up on BM baddies to not get too mad.

Don't forget it's still quite possible to farm PVP IO recipes.

I find I still get a better return on farming these than farming level 50 mobs for Purples or doing any of that Ebil Marketeering buy-low-sell-high stuff. My best days work (16 hour period?) so far netted me the equivalent of just over 3.8 billion influence.

The good thing about the CoX economy is that everyone seems to have their own little niche, and the only thing that really hurts the market is when everyone saves up hundreds of merits to buy a specific IO recipe rather than rolling multiple random recipe rolls and then selling the stuff they don't need to fund buying the recipe they are looking for (I can, however, appreciate that you sometimes don't see a recipe for sale for the exact level you need it, and often lower level recipes such as "Rectified Reticle" are completely unavailable, so saving up to buy these is the only way to get ahold of them).

And of course, there's nothing to stop you farming stuff whilst you're [buying low/selling high]

Wait, is there a special place to get PvP IOs? I thought they were just mixed in with the rest of the drops.

In order to get PvPIOs, you must PvP.

People have devised ways to farm these with second accounts or friends that don't fight back.

Short of maybe a large group effort, I just don't see how you could efficiently farm PVP recepies (and isn't efficiency what "farming" is all about). Two accounts alone wouldn't really do it, since there is a 5 minute limit on drops per character (i.e. with 2 accounts you could get at most 2 chances per 5 minutes, one per character, of a drop).

It's a common practice. It does work, and it works just fine when you can sell a lot of the drops for north of 500M influence, with a couple selling off market over the price cap. Getting 1-3 a day is good stuff at those prices.

The advantage of PvP IO farming is that you can do it while AFK. Basically they set one character with an attack on autofire and one with a self rez on autofire and leave. They generally aim for a kill cycle of just over 5minutes for the reason you specified. So no one chance evbery 5 minutes isn't great until you realize they can easily do it for 16+ hours a day.

I think, for most players, even 1-3 a MONTH would be good stuff.

I find that earnings are marginally higher doing ticket farming and selling pool As (bronze rolls). However, you'll clog up all of your slots doing this. If the marginal value of a slot is considered in (how much excess you can make from buy&craft to sell) purple farming is somewhat better....though not amazingly so. If you can kill level 50 enemies in a farm faster than me the purples would be clearly better though -- not sure if its possible but I'm working on an unusual farming blaster who might outfarm my brute right now.

As others have said do what you find to be fun and/or diversify if you have no preference.

To maximize inf* income your best bet is to get a starter kitty, find something you can flip on the market, keeping getting into larger and larger income niches as budget allows. For time invested I don't think any type of farming can beat semi-intelligent marketeering.

There are plenty of guides on this forum to look up how to get started. I haven't farmed since the difficulty slider came out, I farmed more for the challenge of taking on larger mobs than the actual rewards. I make enough off of marketeering and playing my level 50's so I can buy pretty much whatever I want in game.

I googled Starter Kitty and found this:

I agree that you should be able to make good income with a starter kitty.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

This is an enjoy-the-ride game. "50" is only a number, not the goal of the game. - Noxilicious

A reasonable plan, but how would you get around the AFK time limit?
