Need suggestions, re: Spaceship

So, I've been trying to make my solo SG base into a spaceship looking thing. But I've been having a few difficulties really getting the "feel" across.

One problem is "doorway rooms". Those giant blocks of space that you can't put anything into.. it really breaks the visual continuity of the base. Is there anything i can do to work around this?

Also, I'm unsure what textures/colors to use. I'm using one of the Tech options, light gray, but it still doesn't feel right.

I saw that a couple people have made space STATIONS... however i don't have enough room to make windows to see "outside", so i'm kinda stuck there.

But most of all, many of my rooms are simply boring. Here's the whole kit and kaboodle:

As you can tell, there's not a whole lot about it that screams "star ship!" aside form having what is obviously a Bridge.

You can see a few more pictures here:

Any suggestions would be very helpful!

I'm not seeing a lot of "stacked" items.

Have you experimented with the Floor Safe, the Floor Tile, and the Cubicle?

The Floor Safe stacks on itself, and any other floor item will stack on it.

The Floor Tile also stacks on itself and the Floor Safe.

The Cubicle stacks on the Floor Tile and Floor Safe, and lets you attach Wall Items to it.

Using combos of the above three will let you place almost any object anywhere. Including building walls to cover up most of the open doorways leaving just a "normal" door opening.

See Stacker's Building Lab videos for examples:

To solve the "thick" doorways issue, you could use larger rooms and make your own doors.

I would love to see an enterprise replica in a base...complete with the bridge and turbolift, etc.

EDIT:
Just thought of something. You could use "burried" logo glass or wall banners to make the sliding doors, though they would have to be at least partially open. The banners can be hung backward to show no patterns.

One tip that I would give. Make your walls darker than the standard grey and turn off your general base lighting. To light up your room you can burry different lights into stones or desks, they will still give off light but you can't see the object. Not sure what you have in that red room if it is a raid teliporter then I don't see a need for it. If your on Triumph you might try and catch me on and I can give you a tour of my Secret of Nyhm base it goes from arcane to tech or anyone else here can give your tours and lighting tricks (I think I took it from Summer Knights but don't rember).

Spring Knights.

What Sidhe_Blade is referring to are but some of the many lighting tricks I discovered in building my base for the Spring Knights. The link to the City Scoop article in my sig will show you the OLD base I had when the place was still an 8x8 plot ... and now it's on a 12x16 plot with bigger rooms. Still, a lot of the same principles apply, except even moreso now, since when that article was written I was still limited by Raid Pathing ... and this is no longer the case.

I've been meaning to get new screenshots up of the Spring Knights base here in the forums, but I've never had the time to just settle in and take a lot of pictures. Owing to the fact that the Spring Knights base is completely 3D throughout, but also very "open" and spacious inside without tremendous amounts of clutter everywhere, it's really hard to capture the "FEEL" of the place with static screenshots. You just don't "get" the same sense of scale and volume of space like you do with an honest to goodness base tour.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Ninja Pirate: yeah, i know about stacking.. but i don't know WHAT effect i wish to achieve, is basically my problem. I have this.. functional skeleton of a base and i don't know how to make it look like a "ship". I've pretty much added tech clutter where i could and it looks.. well, really dumb!
