Quote:Easy there, I have not accused you of anything.I'm never sent spam; I have no idea what you are talking about.
I have simply stated that macros/binds are the tools used by people who send spam, typically in conjunction with the /search function. This unfortunate combination of factors, along with the rarely used flag function, is what drives many players to hide from searches. -
Quote:Totally false.Totally false. Good players do not hide. Macros make things easier to send message those who are set to LFT. Global channels are unreliable as they are not as universal as /search is.
I hide. Tell me I'm not a good player.
Macros make things easier to send spam.
Nobody uses LFT flags. People use global channels.
Global channels are more reliable as they are community moderated. We keep our trash cleaned up. Our trash spams people who don't hide from search. -
Quote:The good players typically hide from searches, since there are a lot of idiots on both sides of the line who use macros/binds to send spam invites to anyone online.I'm not sure what server you play on. It is pretty easy to find people on Virtue just by using /search.
We use global channels. -
Quote:Have I got the AT for you. I know what can fill this perfectly.I'm preparing to make a character that I will be highly invested in, that is, I'm preparing to finally make my badger. To do this would be much easier if I could take in content wherever I want it and whatever pace, so a solo artist is preferable.

It needs to be both fun and self sufficient.
Erm... or not. Well then, the next best thing is a ...
Sonofa... You're crossing off all the good ones!
Ok, here's an oddball idea: Kin/DA scrapper. There's some amazing synergy between Kinetic Melee and Dark Armor. Power Siphon's buff enhances Death Shroud's damage for a long duration. The abundance of knockdown is great mitigation, as is the -damage for stacking on top of the resists. The stuns can stack with Oppressive Gloom. All in all, it's a very solid character, and there's other bonuses just for badging like the in set stealth. It may be a little heavier on endurance than you're used to, but with just the Theft of Essence +endurance proc, all that goes away.
The problem with using regen will be the +Max HP of dull pain. Damage taken doesn't count towards the badges until your health goes below the base number. -
Ah. So the build was considerably better than SOs. I don't care who you are, tanking Lord Cheatyface is a feat, so congratulations are in order.
Quote:The cold kept me nicely Iced so I did not have to drop many purples and Mrs Wallace jumped on her account and was emailing me large oranges to hard cap my Res with. So all in all a very sweet STF and a great team effort.
Nowadays I can usually get by without inspirations at all. Eye of the Magus typically last long enough for the team to drop the blue tower. If not, I'll pop a purple to keep the softcap. I don't bother with oranges unless we're on a Master of run. Yeah, two lucky hits in a row before red tower is destroyed could kill me, but he needs to do that twice before he can get to my team. -
Dechs (the character) is a villain who is an avid card player, often referring to himself as "The Ace."
As such, red and black is a must.
Still proud of it.
I like the parity with The Coming Troll's thread. -
I hate reading these at work because I can't really laugh out loud. It does make it a little better though, as I turn it into a sort of "you laugh, you lose" game.
-
Can't say much for the build right now, as I'm at work, but I suggest you take a look through my MFing Warshade guide, linked in my signature. The last section gives a lot of help for slotting powers.

Quote:Thanks for the shout out. Not sure I'm worthy of such praise, but thanks nonetheless. While it's not wrong, my name doesn't actually have an underscore in it. I know it's bloody hard to tell with the way the forums show our names on the left.Ever since Dechs_Kaison, the fine, fine gentleman (My apologies if I've written your name wrong) showed all of us how effective Dark Armor can be, my own respect for the set has continually increased.
Quote:The tank barely never got into the red area of the health bar throughout the whole TF! Other team members that might have helped here was a Cold/ def and Traps/ def (there also was a troller, but IIRC he was /kin).
What is most dangerous is Lord Recluse with red tower up, but the kin helped here if he used increase density. Few people realize that ID has resistance bonuses to it, namely S/L and E if I'm not mistaken. The short duration makes it not worth it for most fights, but agains LR, having unstoppable level resists for S/L and very high energy will turn LR into a chump.
Quote:Now, I wouldn't go ignoring that */kin Controller for two important reasons.
Of all the Master of badges that require no deaths, my Dark Armor tank is only missing MoLRSF, and that's because I haven't had time to run it. Every time I have done these TFs, I have had far fewer buffs for my team. I tend to run heavy on debuff.
Quote:Still impressive that he can tank Recluse without his health budging or his end crashing - my fire tank has a bit of a problem with the -End/-recovery in LR's ranged attack.
Staying alive is a little more tricky. If you're at 75% defense while blue tower is up, that's the LR softcap. He still hits like three trucks while red tower is up, so lucky hits are scary. The trick for DA is to make sure you taunt him over to one of the other towers so you have a target for Dark Regeneration to hit.
Yes, indeed it is. -
Thanks everyone, for jumping on this before I had the chance to get here. Really warms my heart to see so many people mention me, let alone in such high regard. All I did was make a silly video...
Anyway, here's the latest build I have posted. That's my main tank build, and it's Dark/Fire/Earth. With inherent stamina I've since picked up teleport, oppressive gloom, and quicksand (all one slot wonders).
My solo build is Dark/Fire/Pyre, and trades in hasten and build up for some things. It relies a little more on oppressive gloom because that build doesn't really have any sets. It farms freakshow on -1/x8 well enough.
Claws, I wish I could. I have tried, several times, to get je_saist to see the light. I did a quick search and there are three topics in Tanker discussion alone where I have personally corrected her.
What I find most amusing, though, is her name. "Je sais" is French for "I know," which clearly conveys her overly arrogant attitude. If you'll notice, the correct spelling is "sais," not "saist." To my knowledge, "saist" is not a word.
So it is clear to me that "je saist" doesn't know anything, and admits it freely. -
Are you kidding? There's no way that multiplying the effect of inspirations by seven on the AT that is already the closest thing to a true tank-mage this game will ever see could be overpowered.

Quote:Every electric or kinetic character would be ruined. It'd need rebalancing in a lot of places, but in an ideal world, I'd like that. I've never seen Endurance as anything more than an irritant limitation there specifically to prevent me from doing what I want to do. I recognise its merit as a balancing mechanic, so I can't say it's a BAD idea, but by the same token, I would not be sad to see it go.
Too many powers either boost or drain endurance for it to ever be a possibility. -

Quote:This was my thoughts as well.I'd be interested in some more explanation/proof of this. My understanding of the Achilles proc is that it grants the target a power which gives it the -res, which is why it won't stack from multiple casters.
The -resist is resistible like almost any -resist, but it is unaffected by the purple patch, as the "caster" of the power is the enemy that has it. -
Quote:1) Quantums are laughable. You've got holds, stuns, high resists, awesome heals, more stuns, pets... Believe me, quants/voids are laughable if you play with any bit of intelligence.Re: The MFing Warshade. I just can't stand the thought of finding a Quantum on one my levels and getting destroyed. I also quite like builds to have perma hasten, and this doesn't seem achievable on a WS.
2) There are three important set bonuses to look for when building a warshade: Recharge, Recharge, and MOAR RECHARGE. Perma hasten happens by accident.
If you want something survivable against a wide variety of content, how could 85% resist ALL sound bad? I know of a human form only WS that could handle +4/x8 Arachnos. I haven't tried doing this myself with my triform, but suffice to say he's sufficiently powerful.
EDIT: Also, ignore Griff. He compares WS to Grimace because he likes PBs more. But he forgets that PBs have sparkle powers, like the vampires in Twilight. Dunno about you, but I'll take Grimace.
EDIT AGAIN:
I just saw this:
Yes, Dark Armor Sucks. There's no way my DA tank could solo +4/x8 Malta, Carnies and Arachnos like it does in my video. Or hold the aggro of six giant monsters indefinitely (only four shown in the video). -
Quote:Saving this post, thank you.WRONG
We(By which I mean, myself) de-bunked this almost a year ago.
Though it only occurs a very small fraction of the time, even when testing in a vacuum. -
Quote:Ack! I did not mean to imply his point was invalid. I agree that coming from a Dom to a Brute you would expect fury to "do something" as soon as you get it "high enough." Unless you're paying attention to your numbers, it'd be easy to miss the fact that fury starts giving you a bonus as soon as it shows up.Correct, Dechs, but TK's point is still valid: Domination does nothing until it gets (nearly) full, if you're coming to Brutes after playing Doms, it would be understandable if you thought they functioned similarly.
All I was saying was that Domination didn't need to be full full, just mostly full. -
Quote:Incorrect. You're overlooking one critical factor here: Damage modifier. Even if stalker sets had the same number of AoE powers (like in elec and kin melee), they are still sub par due to the difference in damage modifier.Sets like Dual Blades, Spines and Electric Melee can provide great if not the same AoE damage as their AT counterparts and it's arguable that Kinetic Melee has *better* AoE on a Stalker.
You can say they traded their AoE powers for the single target damage of AS and on demand critical hits. What did they trade their survivability for? What did they trade their damage modifier for?
Was getting AS and placate worth losing AoE potential, damage potential, and survivability? I think not. -

On Virtue, both dual pistols characters.
Overglocked - I actually deleted this one, so the name might still be free.
Just That Good - "Why do you toss your gun in the air before you fire?" "Because I'm Just That Good."
