Dark armor, respect to you!

Ever since Dechs_Kaison, the fine, fine gentleman (My apologies if I've written your name wrong) showed all of us how effective Dark Armor can be, my own respect for the set has continually increased.

That said, I've never seen any Dark/ Tanks in game-keep in mind I'm playing on the European servers, so there are less copying from the forums than what I assume is the case in NA- until now! Was forming an STF yesterday, which were led by a Dark/Stone tanker with the will of tanking LR in the end (and got to tank anything else too, as he was the only Tanker on the team :P ), and must I say: *WOW!*

The tank barely never got into the red area of the health bar throughout the whole TF! Other team members that might have helped here was a Cold/ def and Traps/ def (there also was a troller, but IIRC he was /kin).

Now, while this accomplishment might not seem so unusual to you tanker vets, I for one must admit it was really amazing seeing him doing his job!

So basically, Dark armor, I'm impressed!

Now, I wouldn't go ignoring that */kin Controller for two important reasons. One is that Kinetics has Speed Boost and Transfusion, so your Dark tank could be a little trigger-happy with Dark Regeneration and still have the endurance to cover it. The other is that on non-archvillain encounters, the troller is breaking up a lot of the alpha strike, which means health bars are going to move a lot less than if the tank had to take the entire alpha. Still impressive that he can tank Recluse without his health budging or his end crashing - my fire tank has a bit of a problem with the -End/-recovery in LR's ranged attack.

All the same, DA is crazy awesome, and I'm glad you've come to realise this.

Indeed, the troller (elec/kin all the more) certainly did have his role in helping the team do the TF more awesomely, probs to him too. And about the Dark Tanker, the only time he actually got his health bar to red was at the start of the LR battle, it only happened then and it got fixed quite fast.

Thanks for the shout out. Not sure I'm worthy of such praise, but thanks nonetheless. While it's not wrong, my name doesn't actually have an underscore in it. I know it's bloody hard to tell with the way the forums show our names on the left.

With that list of support, I'm not surprised you saw that kind of performance. I don't know how that Dark Tank was built, but that team pretty much ensures he's at the defense softcap even if he's on SOs, which, on top of his resistances makes for a very sturdy tank indeed.

What is most dangerous is Lord Recluse with red tower up, but the kin helped here if he used increase density. Few people realize that ID has resistance bonuses to it, namely S/L and E if I'm not mistaken. The short duration makes it not worth it for most fights, but agains LR, having unstoppable level resists for S/L and very high energy will turn LR into a chump.

I wouldn't go ignoring any of the support here. With this team, that tank on SOs could hold his own for the whole TF. That's not reason to discount Dark Armor, of course.

Of all the Master of badges that require no deaths, my Dark Armor tank is only missing MoLRSF, and that's because I haven't had time to run it. Every time I have done these TFs, I have had far fewer buffs for my team. I tend to run heavy on debuff.

End not crashing is easy; your fire tank doesn't have a constant 86.5% resist to -end/-recovery like a Dark Armor tank has.

Staying alive is a little more tricky. If you're at 75% defense while blue tower is up, that's the LR softcap. He still hits like three trucks while red tower is up, so lucky hits are scary. The trick for DA is to make sure you taunt him over to one of the other towers so you have a target for Dark Regeneration to hit.

Well the dark/stone tank was me, and the build, well that would be the one that a whole host of the forum dark masters (including Dechs, Bix and many more) helped with about 2 weeks ago. The toon is softcaped and a bit of a tanking beast. Saying that the support from the Kin was amazing never once was I without SB and he was spaming heals off the tower non stop. The cold kept me nicely Iced so I did not have to drop many purples and Mrs Wallace jumped on her account and was emailing me large oranges to hard cap my Res with. So all in all a very sweet STF and a great team effort.

Should say it was the first time I have tanked an STF as I was always unsure with my Invin and Stone tank but in Darkness I trust. Got my MOLG ,MOITF and MOApex following the STF so MOSTF here I come, if I can get some peeps to help me

Ah. So the build was considerably better than SOs. I don't care who you are, tanking Lord Cheatyface is a feat, so congratulations are in order.

Yeah, my first time I went overboard on inspirations myself. Wasn't sure exactly how much I could handle and I wasn't going to be the reason LR got loose and went apecrap on my team. If you continue to run this TF, you'll start to get a lot more comfortable.

Nowadays I can usually get by without inspirations at all. Eye of the Magus typically last long enough for the team to drop the blue tower. If not, I'll pop a purple to keep the softcap. I don't bother with oranges unless we're on a Master of run. Yeah, two lucky hits in a row before red tower is destroyed could kill me, but he needs to do that twice before he can get to my team.
