    World Cup 2010

I getting more and more bored of this world cup, wish I'd known this thread was here before more passion and pride here than has been shown in most of the games
  3. I seem to recall Air Sup giving me a crit before now but I'm not 100% sure, could just be me remembering badly. I do that at my age
  4. Did this in I6 with a duo, was a pain then cause had to use debt as a tool. Now I guess the addition of content would make it impossible without turning XP off, so we're lucky to have that tool.

    Good Luck
  5. I find my Fire/WP pretty much average at everything and not really excelling at anything. WP doesn't really do anything nice too boost fire like SD does, and Fire doesn't have any status effects or other mitigation to boost WP

I'm not saying its a bad combo, its two strong sets, just think both can gain more synergy elsewhere

    Dark Sux

I'm trying to think of a secondary I wouldn't like to play with Claws and the only one that I can come up with is regen cause of too many clicks in it taking me away from my attack chain.

But I think Kat/DA works out fairly nicely. Good ST damage, fairly good AoE, the Melee Def and you dont have to see the ugly katana animations (which is why I made it and I found out the other benefits later)

    My first solo AV

She had the most abnormal luck against my DM/SR and thus I take my hat off to you. Of course I think with the random rolls everyone probably had a difficulty with a different AV, but she sent me to the hospital more than I'd like to admit, even though I do have a thing for nurses
  8. I think the comparison has problems where Spine/Inv would likely create the most threat but as SD cant have spines with any other primary SD would be the best
  9. I cant say I see much running from my Spine/Invul, and I love the +tohit in invince, means I get the 5% chance of BU proc that is only active when foes are in range
  10. I dont like shockwave on my Claw/WP brute, I loved it levelling my Claw/WP scrapper. I like keeping myself surrounded for spin with fury and jumping in and out doesn't help the regen. I think it may be the foes on villains compared to the ones on heroes but taking time away from RTTC doesn't seem as optional.

Obviously all changes at 50, ditched Shockwave on the scrapper and I might add it on the Brute, not sure what I'm doing with the brute at 50 but I dont tend to keep levelling builds on melee toons
  11. Spine/WP is cheap, but boring. Spine/Elec seems to work well (having seen nightmarers) but its not as safe. I love my Spine/Inv but its not exactly a cheap build. Spine/SR could be softcapped cheap, but might not be perfect as a few unlucky hits would be very bad for you.

I believe spines is the way to go, depends what you want in a secondary and how much attention you are willing to pay. Spine/Elec does look fun
  12. My Invul only really has the psi whole cause I went defence to others and cap with with only a couple of foes in melee. It gives more variety of slotting where as you get just a lot of defence sets on an SR and hardly anything in the way of other mitigation. But that said its so cheap and easy to soft cap SR, quickness makes building the ideal chain cheaper too.

I think you can make a more survivable claw/inv but a cheaper and more deadly Claw/SR
  13. I love my Claw/Inv, its a bit end heavy but a dream to play in all other aspects. My BS/SR has Claw envy though, so I think both are good combos
  14. I actually really enjoyed the 1-50 with my BS/SR. Just since hitting 50 its done 1 TF and that's all really. It was fun to level but it doesn't have any lasting apeal to me. My Fire/Shield, DM/SR, Spine/Inv have all had over 300 hours of play time each since hitting 50 which put them just behind my main (Rad/Rad/Elec defender) and way ahead of any other alt I have.

I did def cap my BS/SR on route to 50 and when I dropped parry it was nice. But it still doesn't have the fun feel to me of my others. I love my Claw/Inv a lot too but she takes more clicking to play so only comes out when serious DPS is needed and the team's already filled with shield scrappers
  15. Part of me wants Ice Armour on scrappers and brutes, another part says keep it unique. I wouldn't be disappointed if scrappers got it, but I'm not going to cry out for it
  16. Mine was playable with SOs and still a good scrapper. Sure I just shelled out a fortune on it but that's just because by e-mailing inf I found half a bil I didn't know I had so I added that to my budged and dropped manoeuvres instead. I was also really impatient on my shopping so ended up spending 1.1bil. I'd say for 400 mil you could easily soft cap it and in process bring the end cost of everything down. But if you're not worried about that just popping a purple before each fight and running on SO's works perfectly fine. Combining insps has meant more for my scrappers than for any other alt to me
  17. DM/SR has served me well, was my first 50, my first toon to solo an AV before the AV regen changes and my first Melee toon to do so after them. I've tried other SRs but DM/SR always outshines them, I've not found things the same with other secondaries. All the others I've found sets that I like other than the first I tried but DM/SR is just that spot where the synergies click
  18. Well I'd like Stone Melee but I'd fear the nerf it would get with the scrapper damage code added to it.

Energy Aura, cant play it on a brute, no agro aura. I tried bruting without an agro aura, but life without agro has no meaning. I have no intention of stooping to stalkers so in order to play this set I need it proliferated.

I quite like Ice being unique to tanks, but if brutes ever get it then I want it on scrappers too

Do I think there is a real problem with Dark Melee? No, not really. There *could* be, there is at least some "evidence" of it, but without deconstructing what's going on, I don't know. That evidence is NOT the fact that under certain circumstances, it can generate 300 dps, it *is* the fact that it can generate roughly the same DPS as Fire Melee, which is meant to have higher DPS than other sets since it has less soft-control.
As much ST DPS that is though. I the AoE department Dark Melee falls in behind all the others by a long shot which I believed was the downside of the set. If not the intended downside it is certainly the one that has hit my characters

    4 AVs at once!

Obviously other primaries can use /wp in awesome ways like Kat claws and BS, but I wanted far less active survival..
Well I have an SO's Fire/WP at 50 and a DM/WP there too. I would however rather change things around and do it with my Stone/WP bute in a way cause I've yet to get a melee AV soloer villains side. Sure there's my MM, but hey that's like using an Illusion/Rad and I know from eexperience it feels much nicer to get it done in melee and get your hands dirty

Got a long list of projects at the moment but making a note to fit WP in there some how
  21. Yeah the main problem I see is Fire Arrmour not having a spot. Shields is a safer alternative to get the same damage output.

SR can cap for about 200 Mil and for that 200 mil it
Regen and WP are so casual friendly it hurts and both can be improved to AV soloing (4 at once further down the list and I know Jeff's Claw/Regen has done 4 too)
Inv is my ultimate inf drain, but damn it feels indestructable when done. Even without that is a sevicable set
DA is just magic with its many mitigations and the thinking mans safety. Costs a whole bunch of end though and you build to make that right
Shield is the damage king that can be made safe with some spending
Elec is the energiser bunny that just keeps going and going. Not played it on scrappers but on a brute and tank is a lovely feeling and is probably what fire should feel like
Fire? Well it used to be the quishy damage king but now there's a safe one why do you want a squishy one. The broken set is fire not Shields. Shields and Elec have made Fire fairly redundant though Elec needed a small tweak to make that happen. Maybe if fire had a tweak then all the sets would have their place and some balance

Edit: my fire/shields is fine without IOs, but then back in I6 I was soloing AVs with a DM/SR with ony 29% or there abouts defence so I come from a history of not needing the Def Cap to function

    4 AVs at once!

Well done two at once on my Claws/Inv and a fair few one on one with my DM/Sr but I know my Fire/WP would die from a nasty look from one AV let alone a pounding from 4. Good work there. Maybe when my Fire/Shield is fully slotted I will look at making one of my WP builds solid. Trouble is will power starts of "good enough" for most things that I don't tend to invest in builds on them. But you've shown me that you can do a hell of a lot with WP and maybe they're worth another look

Seeing FM/SD and DM/SD break the 300DPS mark while my claws/sr hit the wall at 200 was, quite frankly, kinda sad.

Made me annoyed that I couldn't make a claws/sd, regardless of the fact that such a combo would have even MORE ridiculous amounts of AoE damage.
The fact that SD cant have claws alone makes it an inferior set and makes up for all its bonuses. SD will never know beauty, grace and bloody blending like the other secondaries will

Edit: as a side point I think the level of survivability that Invul gets with IOs makes it the best long term secondary but I'm aware of the costs involved. Fire Aura is the odd one out cause with huge investment it doesn't get to the level of invul for survivability, in fact it just draws level with the other sets and shield takes away its damage king status. Maybe a FA boost would be better than an SD nerf to bring things in line to leave two real options for a high AoE damage scrapper while having the cheap to cap SR and WP and Regen being the good out the box sets. Not really sure where Elec fits in as its the only scrapper secondary I haven't tried but DA is a unique enough experience and hard to calculate it's worth to stand alone
  24. DA:O is amazing and I need to get my next character through it to see how I change the endings, and then the next........... I could even see how small decisions made early on shape feralden and I also want to see how much difference a female character makes to that ending
