Your build has three AoEs already (Fireball, Psychic Scream and Psychic Shockwave), so you'll be able to drop all the minions in a spawn pretty easily. But they're three different kinds. The PBAoE will be the problem -- after you hit them with Fireball and Psychic Scream you'll have to run into the group and let loose with Shockwave to finish them off. It would be easier and safer if your AoEs were more compatible.
Isn't Psi Shockwave also a stun? If so I would use that one first. There is also no law that says you can't fire Fireball while in melee range (Scrappers and /Kin controllers do it all the time)

    So I'd go like this:

Hover over a mob, detoggle hover, dropping you smack into the middle of it, Psi Shockwave, point-blank Fireball, then retoggle hover and go straight up, firing Psi Scream downward at them.

It kind of defeats the purpose of being a hover-blaster, but it would be a way to use all 3 AoEs effectively.
  2. Least fun:

Getting Speed Boosted unexpectedly in mid-air as I'm jumping toward a mob.

I've caught flak for agroing 2 mobs because of this several times. The kin SBs me as I'm jumping toward one mob, and I go sailing over it into the next one. I prefer to jump into mobs, instead of run, because it makes it easier to center myself for an AoE when I land.
  3. My main is a scientist who specializes in robotics and cybernetics. Any of my blueside characters who use technology have a business relationship with him at the very least.

My 50 blaster for example, is Sonic/Devices, his powers of flight and some of his gadgets (Cloaking Device and Targeting Drone) came from my main.

My 50 defender is my blaster's brother and has a cybernetic arm and right eye, designed and built by my main.

He built a device to contain the powers of my Fire/Fire blaster.

    You get the picture.

My main villain is an alternate timeline future version of my main hero. Remember the mission where an alternate version of you destroyed the world, leaving only ghosts?

My main villain is that guy. The corpse you find in the mission isn't him, but another version of my hero who found the dimension first and was murdered for his dimensional portal. He's actually trying to stop my main hero from repeating his mistakes and destroying the planet, most likely planning on killing him to do so.
  4. I'd like to see more origin specific stuff to do and more end game content, but I don't think the two should be combined.

As it stands, your origin is completely irrelevant in game terms. Look at the comic book universes. No one ever says to Dr. Strange "Sorry, you can't come to the interstellar war, because your powers come from magic, not technology.", or says "No way you're coming with us to take down the Overlord of Hell, Spider-Man, you got your powers from a spider bite, that's science there, we need magic powers."

5 entirely new zones that are locked to people not of that origin is far too restrictive. The devs probably aren't going to spend that kind of time creating a zone that only some people can use.

Origin is irrelevant for a reason. Natural can mean you are a normal human, or it can mean that you are from another planet and your entire race has those abilities, Superman is natural origin, because ANY Kryptonian exposed to a yellow sun would have the same powers. Science can mean you experimented on yourself to get powers, like Doc Samson, or you had an accident, like Spider-Man, Daredevil, or the Fantastic Four. Technology can be anything from being an android, to just having some fancy gadgets, or anything in between.

I already don't like that they tell us where Dark powers come from (the Netherworld), that should be up to us to define. Any origin specific storyline would not match the actual origin of everyone's powers, and should thus be completely optional and not have any impact on what you can and can't do in the game.

I know the developers have hinted towards adding more to Power Customization and I'd like to draw everyone's attention to one of the most stale animation sets in the whole game: The BS/Axe/Mace animations.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that Martial Arts received brand new animations for a set that already used unique animations when three power sets, featuring VERY different weapons all share the same animations!

I would really like to see a nice set of alternate animations for these sets, more specifically...

    two handed animations.

A majority of the weapons look absolutely silly being flung around with one hand. The Carnival Mallet, Rikti broadsword, Lumberjack Axe, and Warhammer look particularly silly.

I personally have been hoping for these alternate two-handed animations ever since Issue 2 when katana recieved completely new animations for this exact reason.

Martial Arts and Super Strength got new animations to satisfy a demand for a "Street Fighting" set without actually having to make a new set. That was the only reason they got them. Also, they seem to have been designed specifically to look good with Shield Defense, especially the KO Blow alternate, it looks like an upward shield bash. As evidence of this, look at the alternate animations they gave Martial Arts, they are ALL right handed animations and they do not alternate, which says to me they designed them with shields in mind. The Jab alternate is the only one that doesn't seem to work with a shield, unless the idea is for it to be a quick shield smash.

A LOT of animations are shared between powers. Even the alternate animation for Eagle's Claw is a recycled one, it's the same animation as Stun from Energy Manipulation.

Thunder Strike, Total Focus, Tremor: same animation

Air Superiority, Bonesmasher, Havoc Punch, Haymaker, Seismic Smash: same animation

Most of the blast sets use a set of 10-12 animations between 7 powersets or so.

The problem you're going to find here is probably that the devs don't want to give a few more sets alternate animations, which would set a precedent and people would start clamoring for new animations for EVERYTHING, which is a crap ton of work.

Besides, we still don't know what all is going to be in Going Rogue, alternate animations for stuff may be in there somewhere.
  6. My Fire/Regen was a beast on his posi run. I didn't solo it, but I probably could with very little difficulty.

No Stealth, but a low level +Stealth IO plus Ninja Run (just to get him out of agro range faster) should work for that.

One last follow-up question: Which of the following would you recommend taking for leveling?

    1. Shadow Punch, Smite, Shadow Maul
    2. Smite, Shadow Maul
    3. Shadow Punch, Smite

After reading your responses, I'm leaning towards Smite and Shadow Maul until I can pick up Siphon Life.
Shadow Punch and Smite. It shouldn't take you more than 2 hours or so to get to level 8 and pick up Siphon Life.

I have a level 50 DM/SR brute, and Shadow Punch is still very much a part of his chain. Though, once you get to higher levels with a scrapper and start IOing with global recharge bonuses, you can drop Shadow Punch if you like (I would definitely wait until after picking up Midnight Grasp to drop it) It's also another single target melee attack that you can slot Mako's Bite or Touch of Death in to help get you to the softcap. I like Touch of Death in Shadow Punch, because the slightly lower enhancement values (especially on recharge) don't matter as much in it as in the harder hitting powers.

So, if you take everything you will have 4 single target melee attacks, and 4 PBAoE attacks that you can use to slot set bonuses in. You will probably not have room for all of them though. Touch of Fear and Confront are pretty much universally skipped unless it's for concept.

For help softcapping, it's still pretty much the usual suspects: Touch of Death, Mako's Bite, Scirocco's Dervish, and Obliteration. I like 6 slotting Red Fortune in defense toggles if I'm trying to hit softcap, but if you can get the ranged defense elsewhere (or aren't worried about softcapping) 4 Luck of the Gambler is a good choice too. I also like 5 Crushing Impact and a Heal IO in Siphon Life, but opinions vary on that one.

As far as Shield Defense goes, you will want everything except maybe Grant Cover and One with the Shield, which are IMO optional. It's an absolute beast, but it takes more work to softcap than SR does because it doesn't have the passives contributing 7-8% to your defense. DM/SD has been proven to have the highest damage potential of any scrapper combination on a single target, followed very closely by Fire/Shield. (If I remember Bill Z's findings correctly)
  8. I used to work at a cemetary, and I realized that the tops of urns (markers for those who have been cremated) look exactly like badge markers.

I found myself on several occasions adjusting my mowing path to pass by as many of them as possible.

"Congratulations! You have earned the Morbid Gamer badge!"

can anyone figure a way to get the last .6 range for cap?
Replace the Sniper sets in Zapp with another set of Thunderstrike.

The sniper sets have a total of around 2.75% ranged defense, Thunderstrike has a total of 3.75%. With a full percent point more, that will do it for you, assuming nothing else is altered.

This could potentially have a very negative impact on the villain economy.
It probably will have a negative impact on the villainside market.

I had a moment of extreme sticker shock when I went to IO my brute. I had 100 million on my toon and it wasn't enough to buy 1 complete set of Touch of Death. It was barely enough to buy 2/3rds of it. I have found that it costs me 3-4 times the cash to IO a character redside than it does for an equivalent build bluside.

People will see that the blueside market has things going much cheaper and take their villain over there to do their final IO build. In all likelyhood that will cause villain side prices to keep going up, because fewer people are buying and selling there.

When you are the only person who has had something for sale in the last 2 weeks, you can pretty much ask whatever you want for it (within reason, 2 billion for a Crushing Impact isn't going to happen), and if it is a popular enough recipe you will probably get it.

That tends to lead to people setting prices at ridiculous amounts, because they know sooner or later someone will want it bad enough to pay it. Especially if they bought billions from a RMT site.

When you get 2 billion inf in 10 minutes, it doesn't mean as much to you as if you had spent time earning it, meaning you're more willing to spend 200 million on something. Other people see that someone got 200 million for the same thing and set a similar price. Over time the average price goes up as people discover that they can set a price of 150 million+ and get it. There are more IO recipes in the game now than there were a year and a half ago, and the demand hasn't risen enough to justify the geometric price increases.

Greedy marketeers being made rich by RMT customers with tons of money and no clue. Gotta love it.

(Note: Not all marketeers are that greedy, most just want to make a tidy profit, and realize that if they gouge too much they will destroy their own market)
  11. Quote:
those seem to be a bit pricey at the moment on my server.
The market is cross-server. If they're pricey on yours, they're pricey everywhere, changing servers won't help you get them cheaper.

You can buy an enhyancement on Pinnacle from someone on Freedom, and then turn around and sell it to someone on Champion. It's set up like that because server populations aren't equal, a lower population server like Pinnacle would have an almost constant drought of things on the market if the market were just for that server.

Your build looks decent, though I don't have Mid's available at the moment to dissect it. If I remember I'll take a look at it when I get home.

    Medical Stalkers

Ninjitsu tends to have more room for esoteric power picks than the other secondaries, so if I were going to do something like this, that's the secondary I would choose.

You've obviously never seen how hard Soul Drain hits on a brute with a full fury bar already. Slotted for damage it's actually an effective AoE. That's the only AT it's worth slotting that power for damage on though, I'll give ya that.

Well, with IOs now, there are vey few builds that are actually "bad". I don't have one myself, and in fact I've never seen one, so if you keep the toon you will be unique at the very least. To me, that's reason enough to keep it right there.

Going from memory of the powers, it won't have the best synergy in the world, but it won't be the worst either.

    Okay.

    (for a claws/regen specifically)
    "Wolverine Blues" by Entombed.

Or "Dawn of the Angry" by Morbid Angel

Or "Hammer Smashed Face" by Cannibal Corpse. (For those not familiar, Cannibal Corpse was the death metal band in Ace Ventura, this is the song they were playing, Jim Carrey himself picked the band)

    "War Ensemble" by Slayer

    "Pure Hatred" by Chimaira

    Metal enough for ya?
  16. Fun?

Disembowel and Head Splitter back to back. If you time it just right you cleave through their torso as they crumple to the ground.

Energy Torrent and Shockwave back to back. Like skeet shooting an entire group at once.

Power Thrust into the blue barrier walls in outdoor missions. They stick in very strange positions, especially if it kills them.
  17. AFK farming for redside PvP recipe drops using a MM and a Regen or WP scrapper would be an example of botting.

Which I believe is probably one of the reasons they instituted the mandatory respawn in PvP zones.

    NEW Power Sets!

To Tanks- Super Reflexes, Broadsword, Katana, Martial Arts, Claws, energy aura. Electrical mastery (Ancillary)
Do you realize how broken SR would be on a tank? I kind of doubt the devs will give us a defense based set that will exceed softcap by itself, with no other powers or IOs.

Just look at how easy it is to softcap Shield Defense on a tank. One extra power pool, and a single IO is all you need. With SR's passives you wouldn't even need that.

No qualms with the other things there, but I highly doubt tanks will ever get SR in it's current form.

Energy Aura seems unlikely as well, but more likely than SR. Energy Aura is what villains got instead of Ice, and they are very similar in function. So I wouldn't expect that one to be proliferated until villains get Ice Armor......
  19. Or even as part of it. But I suspect they wouldn't put that in with a part of the game you have to buy seperately.

I'll do a demo-record when I have time for it.

Keep in mind my /DA toon is heavily IOed. There is no scrapper build in existence that can solo at +3 or 4/x8 without IOs.

Can you solo at +3 or 4x8 with your /DA toon?
    Yes.

Situational power for me. I was looking into ways to get a little more E/NE defense and Eradication is a good set for that. So, I might slot 3 of them, and 3 of an End Mod set, probably Efficacy Adaptor. I should get into the low 30's with it slotted. it depends entirely on whether or not I hae room in my build, currently it doesn't look like I do.

Looks like I'm going to be screwed on Fire and Cold though.
  24. Okay, analogy time.

You have been working at a company for 5 years. As a thank you for your loyalty the company gives you a watch. The watch is an exclusive design with the company's logo on it, only people who have worked there for a certain length of time have such a watch.

Now, you discover a person wearing that very same watch, who you know for a fact has not been with the company for 5 years. Upon inquiring, you discover that the person in question purchased the watch.

Something that was only obtainable through loyalty to a company was purchased by someone who has not shown the same loyalty. This would, in essence, make that thank you gift completely worthless, because now anyone can have it. Most people would be justifiably upset by that.

There are a number of vet rewards beyond my 48 months that I would LOVE to have, but I am content to wait for them, because I have not yet met the criteria set forth by the people awarding them (the devs).

The criteria is: Amount of time your account has been active for. I had two periods of several months where my account was not active for one reaon or another. Therefore I am 6 months short on rewards I would have recieved had my account stayed active.

This is perfectly fair, because everyone is subject to the same rules.

Asking to purchase vet rewards is like saying "You should change the rules for me, because I'm special and shouldn't have to wait like everyone else"

To sum up my stance, not only "no", but HELL no.
  25. I like IOing my characters to push the envelope of what I can do with them, not because I feel it is necessary to play the game.

I have a few, like my BS/DA scrapper, that are night and day with and without IOs, but for the most part they were just mild performance increases.

The other day I tanked an ITF with my DM/SR brute who only has 3 complete sets of anything: Thunderstrike, Touch of Death, and Scirocco's Dervish. If you remember your set bonuses you'll see that he has those to get to softcap. He has almost no other IOs at all.

I died exactly 3 times, twice due to the number generator deciding to screw me, and once to the autohit nictus. At no point did I think "I need more IOs to do this", though I DID think "Man, some more end recovery would be nice".

I would NEVER refuse a teammate based on their IO status. I would, however, refuse certain teammates based on power selection. As an example, I wouldn't take a tank without his mez protection on an STF, or a controller who uses nothing but pool powers to fight, stuff like that. I won't kick someone because they like Whirlwind (It IS a fun power )

If you can, Fury, direct your friend to this thread so she can read for herself that all that stuff isn't necessary.
