MA/SR build critique

I've come up with this build for an MA/SR. I'm at lv 26 and so far so good. I was wondering if I could get some comments about it...

Also, according to my math (which could be wrong) I'm a bit short of the soft cap for defense... Am I correct, and if so, what would you guys recommend I do about it?

Well, some of the basic's are you need 5 Luck of the Gambler (LoTG) 7.5% recharge speed enhancements and slot them in your SR passives, Weave, etc. Not sure if you want to go with purples but I slot Storm Kick with Hecatombs, as well as the appropriate purples in Dragon Kick, Boxing and Laser Beam Eyes. But that can be an expensive build.

I would slot Crane Kick with a full set of whatever, your Frankenslotting there doesn't do much for you.

Here is my 50 MA/SR, its an expensive build, but he isn't bad (especially for MA/SR)

Happy, you are over the soft cap as is..your at 45.5% avg on all positional defenses. Actually with CJ turned on, you are closer to 48%..

I would definitly remove the 3rd slot in your passive skillz (Agile/Dodge/Lucky), its only giving you 0.5% def..

You've got alot of recovery, i would take Focused Accuracy over Conserve Power

Wow, always amazed at all the good info on these boards from the player community. Thank you!
Sorry for the late reply. That being said, I leveled my toon up to 31 over the last day or so. I managed to get a full set of Crushing Impact, Mako, Gaussian, and the 3% Steadfast. For the time being I slotted Focused Fighting and Focused senses with 5 Serendipity. I'd (of course) like to change that for LoTG, but I really don't think I'll have the funds. Next best would be Red Fortunes, but even those seem to be a bit pricey at the moment on my server.
I have 5 pieces for a ToD (bidding for the last one right now). So far, I'm at 41% on Ranged, and something like 38% on Melee. I have about 260 Merit Rewards, that I plan to using to get a Numina regen/recov to sell at AH, to get some funds back. I'm REALLY poor right now, having started the toon with a bit over 80 million. I have no 50 characters, and this is my only toon. I transferred funds I had on other toons, put everything on this one, then deleted my old ones. So purples are probably out of the question as well. I'll be happy with capped positional defenses, and hopefully a combination of luck and merits will allow me to get the expensive health recipes. As for the franken slotting in Crane Kick, it's mostly because I have no idea as to what I can put in there. Again, funds are really starting to be an issue. Right now I have some regular lv 30 IO's. Everything on that toon is now an IO, recipe or regular, so at least now I just need to spend as I go. My numbers on my sets aren't the best, them being between lv 28 to 31 on average. But it's working ok anyway. Eventually I'll get higher level recipes and replace what I have currently (at least I hope).

Also, as for only keeping 2 slots in the passives, I think it's the first time I ever hear someone recommend that. I'd like to save the slots, so maybe that's the way to go...

Here's another version of your build for thought. Moved 3 slots and altered some enhancement choices but power choices I left alone. I moved 1 slot off each Focused Senses, Weave and Evasion. 2 effectively end up in Physical Perfection and 1 in CJ. I would have played around with the build more using LotG in your active defenses and Weave but since influence seemed to be a major concern for now I left the Red Fortunes in. You lose the recharge but honestly unless you can afford (or until you can afford) more recharge in the build overall the extra 20% recharge from the Red Fortune alone is not likely to do more for you than using those slots elsewhere. Further if/when you can add LotG, since 4 slots is what I'd use, you have the option of overwriting the Red Fortune instead of burning a respec to move the slots as well.

Get the accolades for +Health and +Max Endurance they'll help the build enormously no matter what it is. With the Accolades, moving 3 slots and changing a handful of enhancements the build goes from a passive regen of around 10 hp/sec to 28 hp/sec and 1480 Health to 1893 Health. Combined with soft capped defenses this is a huge jump in survivability.

The market is cross-server. If they're pricey on yours, they're pricey everywhere, changing servers won't help you get them cheaper.

You can buy an enhyancement on Pinnacle from someone on Freedom, and then turn around and sell it to someone on Champion. It's set up like that because server populations aren't equal, a lower population server like Pinnacle would have an almost constant drought of things on the market if the market were just for that server.

Your build looks decent, though I don't have Mid's available at the moment to dissect it. If I remember I'll take a look at it when I get home.
