  1. Looks pretty solid actually.

You'll have the same problem my BS/DA has fighting more than +2 or so uplevel due to the lack of accuracy.

The first thing that jumped out at me was I would definitely try to slot Health and Physical Perfection better than they are, since any enhancement that is in the power also enhances the procs. Unfortunately I don't really see anywhere you can steal slots from without hurting something else.

I'd also swap the Multistrike Dam/End that's in Lotus Drops for a Dam/Rech to bring it back a little faster.

It's not too far off what my BS/DA looks like actually. You should be able to pull off a RWZ Challenge with no problems. The lower AoE defense might hurt you in some situations, but my build still isn't completely done, and it hasn't been an issue for me thus far (my AoE is at about 37% because I'm missing 2 BotZ -KBs)

End consumption might be an issue if you're running all your toggles simultaneously, but it shouldn't be too horrible. Conserve power ought to soften that blow a little bit though.

All in all, it looks pretty good. Kudos.

TA's a fun set. I have a Fire/TA controller in the late 30s. It's an odd build, in that it doesn't have Hot Feet at all and stays at range at all times, but it's a fun one, and that's all that really matters.

As a couple other people said, TA helps shore up the relative lack of control in Gravity. Entangling Arrow even has a use...it sets up Containment for your first damaging attack (Propel most likely) that hits your target.
  3. My use of Dull Pain depends on the circumstances.

If I'm just bebopping around running missions I use it reactively.

Certain situations (MSTF AV fights for example) I pop Dull Pain and IH before the fight if possible, since I'm kind of squishy and oneshottable without Dull Pain up. Of course Dr. Aeon can one shot a regen through Dull Pain, so it doesn't help much in that one. His Energy Transfer REALLY F*&^$% HURTS.

Most of the time I don't even take a fight seriously unless it makes me use DP.

Thanks for the replys! Im not sure at this point but it seems to be between Kat/Will, Elec/Elec"though i cant find a guide for that one" and MA/Will.

I don't know why but Elec/elec keeps coming back on my list even though the only thing I know about it is that its weak verse single targets compaired to others. maybe its the old spiderman cartoons i watched as a kid that had that Electro villian that seems so cool.

I would just make all three and let them battle it out leveling to 10 or 20 to see who got to become the new hero but im not real good at sticking with one toon normally and dont want to start the endless line of alt toons marching across my log in screen.
The reason you can't find a guide for Elec/Elec is that it is still very new to scrappers.

Hint: If you look in brute guides you can find something that will give you the basic information you need. Brutes have had Electric a lot longer than scrappers or tanks have.

    Thansk again!
It's not that bad. I have a MA/WP scrapper, and while he isn't an AoE monster he gets by just fine.

MA isn't the powerhouse some sets are, but it isn't gimped by any means.

For the most part, the best scrapper set is Anything/Anything. Some will be better than others depending on situation or skill level, but none of them are actually "weak".

I concur with above posters, though. Katana or Broadsword and Willpower are the newbie friendliest sets. Willpower is largely "toggle up and go", and the sword sets have a good balance between single target and AoE, while providing some mitigation with Divine Avalanche/Parry.

Actually it doesn't. It applies another copy of the exact same power for a shorter duration. It has the same net result, but it technically is not increasing the magnitude.

Overpower (the controller ability) does increase magnitude by 1. But it is not a reliable increase.

Also, in the case of Holds, the Lockdown proc will increase magnitude by 2, but it is a chance to, so also not reliable.
  7. I still want a guitar for war mace.

It was nixed because there are too many different styles of guitar and it would be impossible to please everyone. There are a lot of different styles of sword too....yet there is a limited selection. Doesn't compute for me, but it's the dev's call, not mine.

This would be cool, but you'd have to think of a lot more stuff to add to it before I'd be willing to drop 10 bucks on it.
  8. "Honorable" and "Evil" are not mutually exclusive traits. You can be both quite easily.

Others have given you the correct solution. If you don't like that badge title, don't use it.
  9. For ease of doing that, avoid Energy. The rest of the sets should work just fine, as they all have at least 2 PBAoE powers.

Dark Melee even has 3 powers that accept PBAoE sets.
  10. ClawsandEffect

    What For?

    It's very simple really.

Positional defense is the easiest way to add survivability to ANY character. No matter what AT, if you add defense, they will live longer.

All the regen in the world does you absolutely no good when you're being hit by everything and you drop to 0 HP in 15 seconds or less. Defense makes regen better, because it's less damage you need to regenerate.

All the recharge in the world is useless when you're dead. Defense will keep you alive longer, in order to use all those quick recharging attacks.

More HP just means you can take more hits before you drop. If you're not taking all those hits you will not drop.

That's why defense is a common IO path for any character. Because no matter what else you're doing with it, defense will make it better.

    Confused!help!

Umm, sorry, but they're right Fire-Minded.

It is impossible to have perma AM and Hasten on SOs alone.

"Perma" means neither ever drop at all. Ever.

It means Hasten recharges within it's own duration. And AM recharges within it's own duration. No matter how vehemently you say it, the numbers prove you to be dead wrong. Not people's opinions that you disagree with. Cold, hard, inarguable FACT.

    Uh, no.

How the hell does playing checkers give you more experience at being a hero?

AE is virtual reality, it gives you experience because it replicates the things you gain experience for.

Please explain how playing a game of checkers in any way relates to fighting/committing crime. You get experience for doing things that make you a better hero or villain.

Playing checkers does not make you a better hero or villain.

You can already play any of those games with your friends online, in game programs designed for it.

Still don't want the devs wasting their time on this when they could be making the game that I'm paying to play better.

Here's the part I have a problem with.

How much weaker than scrapper defenses can you get before they're completely ineffectual?

Scrappers relying on pure resistance are already hard enough to play, how much harder to play would a character be that gets less of it to start with?

If you make them equal to scrapper defenses, you end up with a potentially very overpowered AT.

If you make them weak enough to be balanced only SR, Shield, Regen, and Willpower would ever be used, because the rest of them would just be too weak to make an effective set.

Huge balance issue inherent in this one I think.

So you can log into your video game character to play a game of checkers?

If you want to play those games, find them somewhere else online to play them.

I'd really rather the devs not spend time on this when they could be doing something that, you know, actually has something to do with CoH.

CoH already IS a game in and of itself. What would be the point of there being a dozen games in it that you could find better versions of elsewhere? If I want to play a game of chess, I'd rather it be a version of chess that was designed from the ground up to be a chess game, not a cobbled together version that was thrown in as an afterthought in a larger game that I already play.

But i'm curious if I could drop the AoE defense (either the toggle or passive or both) completely in favor of something else. Not sure what power I would replace it with but just curious.

Are there any AV's or villain groups that you really need AoE defense for or can it be replaced without problem.

    Thanks, Zoner
You could, but unless you have specific plans to replace it with something I wouldn't.

AoE isn't so common that it will get you killed frequently in regular play, but any GM that lands a couple in a row will kill you pretty quick.
  17. I checked it.

I was right. You can get absolutely identical numbers for regen in PP. And you can enhance end mod as well to get more recovery out of it. Here's my data chunk (only the enhancement values of PP are relevant)

What you were seeing was the fact that True Grit is enhanced, while PP is not on your build. Physical Perfection on your build only has the procs in it. With enhancement in PP equal to what you have in True Grit the regen is equal or better. Recovery enhancement works the same way. If you slot PP for end mod it affects the recovery you get from the Numina's and Miracle procs.

Your build has 272% regen. This one has 292% The only advantage your build has is you get the regen bonus exemped all the way down to level 1.

  18. Came up with a concept for a Katana/Willpower build.

I've played both Broadsword and Willpower to high levels, and I know that Katana and Broadsword are similar enough that if you know one, you should know the other.

    Pros:

Good regen and over 2200 HP
    E/N/F/C defense all over 30% (33.5%)

    Cons:

    Not much global recharge
    Accuracy could be better

Here's the build. The LotGs are not strictly required, and I can live without the unique procs if they don't drop for me (I don't have the cash to buy them outright)

Let me know if anything glaringly obvious jumps out at you that I could change. Absolutely will not use purples or PvP IOs, if they drop they will be sold and the cash used to fund the rest of the build.
  19. Well, regardless how much influence you have stored anywhere, you can only have 2 billion on any one character at any time.

Thus, you cannot bid more than 2 billion on any one item.

Personally I think the level 53 recipe glitch was intentionally left in place to appease those players that have been asking for a banking system ever since there was a reason to care how much influence you had.

Before the invention syestem was introduced it was completely irrelevant whether you have 500 influence or 2 billion influence, provided your character had all the necessary enhancements.

Invalidating bids on level 53 recipes would royally piss players off that spend untold hours building up that money. What of the player who has 40 billion influence spread out amongst their bids? You're proposing that their hard earned influence be taken away from them with no restitution possible.

How would you feel if your life savings were taken away from you because you passed an arbitrary cap on how much money you're allowed to have? Pretty upset I bet. The people who have that kind of in-game currency spent a lot of time earning it. Should they have done all that for nothing?

Whether or not you view it as an exploit is irrelevant. It has existed since issue 8 and has never been changed. That seems to imply that the devs are leaving it in place for a reason (see my aforementioned banking syetem point)

You won't be giving up your crits. Stalkers crit out of hide also. They actually crit more often than scrappers do, and get a bonus to the percentage chance on larger teams.

And even in the OLD stalkers you wouldn't be giving up your crits with OGloom. Stalkers used to crit on targets that were mezzed, and I believe stun is one of the mezzes that counted.

Might be worth it on a Ninja Blade/DA stalker that is built for scrapping.

As far as damage output goes....it blows.

However, it IS extremely fun to just keep punching something in the head 24 times in 7 seconds.

I like Power Up and Attack Vitals.

Unfortunately your only PBAoE combo (Sweep) requires 1kCuts to start it.

Weaken is nice in the early levels, but as you get higher it gets less useful.

You could always take all 4 and use them as appropriate to the situation.

That shouldn't be the case. It should grant 20-36% regen (depending on the enhancement slotting of the power) no matter where it is.

It is, however, a good idea for exemping.
