Quote:I know some players hate single-target attacks like they were being asked to eat a rat, but MA has been real fun for me, very stylish. I can drop into a group, do the spin-kick and bounce everybody down and then start kicking them all down one by one while they're really not doing much damage to me (then again I took SR for my secondary and I've some slotted Kinetic Combats, so I don't get touched much anyways.Martial Arts is probably the best animated launch set, and it's more of a precise style, and a lot more kicks (you can use power customization to change some of them to punches, though).

Drawing from a 3-D object or person in front of you is rather different (easier too) than drawing from a photo, where your subject has already been rendered 2-D. With the object in front of you, you have to learn how to render it "three-dimensional looking" on a 2-D on surface. Use a photo and you don't get that experience, you're just 'aping' the shapes the values created.

Quote:Having just fought 200 Paragon Protectors this morning, I can second this.E.g. I don't know anybody who likes to wait for a enemy's god mode to wear off. It doesn't make the fight more difficult or challenging, it just makes it last longer (the end being particularly boring).
I think Eva covered it pretty well for me, but here's a bit of rambling: When I'm working out an AE arc, I tend to go for easier custom foes, no need to annoy players, right? I pretty much avoid anything other than melee weapons sets (unless really called for), make sure they don't have build ups and work from there. I tend to set their percentages as high as I can ("97% normal XP for a level 50 character" or something) while keeping their powers as few as I can.
The arc is my envelope to send the players a story, I don't see 'the medium as the message' here, generally. -
I imagine that once they are available, they'll probably sell well as a nudge-nudge wink-wink PL tool. I do find it surprising they haven't migrated them to live yet though.

Quote:Bless him. I haven't always cared for what I've read of his stuff but it often seems his heart was in the right place at any rate; this just confirms that for me. And Alan Moore's comment made me laugh.Although DC has enlisted its top-shelf talent in this enterprise, the roster doesn't include their current golden boy, Grant Morrison. As it turns out, he declined their offer:

I've got one at 43rd and she IS a real blast to play. I agree with you that this game can really keep one interested in exploring new powersets. Now if they'd just spend some 'love resources' on anything other than end-game content, I could exist here a happy man till the end of days

Quote:That's been my experience too. Really, I think most tips always seem set up to send you as far across the zone you're in as they can, I always seem to take one and look at map, rotate to face that way and see something like ".98 mile" on the yellow arrow. >Sadly, the same isn't true for Villain/Rogue tips. At 45-50, I think all but 2 or 3 take place in Grandville.

I'm sure this will draw some big laughs, but skip the task force, you'll be running those team-grinder-speed-runs for the rest of your life once you hit 50, go out and smell some roses first.
Take a wander over to the Mission Architect forums, look for threads collecting lists of good player-written missions and search out some that sound fun and fit your level requirements (and possibly your character's personality). Most of the "collected on a list" missions are just as good if not better than dev-written stuff. -

Quote:Seconded. Much as I enjoyed it back in the day, I'm just tired of it now, same with Star Trek. Rather than see the same stories get repeated by a new generation (how many times will we see Batman fight the Joker for "the first time"?*), create some new stuff dammit!Dude created a great universe to tell stories in and I understand the frustration expressed towards the movies when the fan fiction and video games like SWTOR were just so very excellent.
I wish that some of these talented writers would write their own new universe. SW came out when I was still in High School and I will be 50 this year. Its about time for something else.
Course, studios hate taking the risk with stuff that doesn't already have name recognition...
*Answer: as long as people will keep paying for it, duh! -
That reminds me: aren't there four firework emotes but for some reason only three listed possible text commands to reach them? I recall playing about with them when I first got them and the one I liked most I couldn't make a macro for.
Am I crazy or misremembering that? -
Quote:Trickshooter gets Perception Award of the day! From now on I'll be sure to tag my jokes with with a "GoldenGirl".Pretty sure he meant that as a joke in the sense that Stalkers are the least sturdy melee AT, rather than about the concept of being stealthy and invulnerable.
Personally I really like the stalker AT (boast: I have only two 50s, one of which is a stalker I leveled up before the first round of stalker buffs) and more choices for them are always a plus in my book. -
Quote:I haven't seen the new Tron yet, but I have seen the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where, iirc, they used a ton of CGI to show us the old-looking (young) Brad Pitt as well as the younger-looking (old). The old one we got to see a fair amount - moving around, doing things, etc. The young one? Not so much, I recall he stood around, partially hidden in shadow in a dark room! I don't think our CGI, even with unlimited budgets, can really get us that far yet.The use of Tron: Legacy class character alteration effects for the actors would be pretty much required to pull it off. The old docs (from the "old series") are all very obviously much older and something like done with Flynn/Clu in Tron: Legacy would be pretty much required to pull it off with anything short of giggle inducing badness and even then a lot of the "age reduction" on Bridges was noticeable.
So yeah, I can't see them even attempting that route either. -

"Invulnerability Stalker" sounds like an oxymoron...

Seconded, you've done a lot for us, thank you. See you when you come back (as they always do...).

Quote:Seconded. I haven't been able to keep up with this season as it's (obviously) not out on dvd yet, but the few I've seen are keeping me watching it. I'm not even all that enamored of the characters (Walter aside), but I really like how they're handling all the repercussions of the story ideas. If it weren't for this show and Dr. Who, I wouldn't be watching any tv at all*... which probably means it's doomed. This really is an underrated show. I love how it dramatically changes every season.
*Oops: ok, Community is getting me hooked right now. Same obvious outcome, DOOOMED! -
Quote:Ratings are down in England but up in America, last I heard; in my eyes that balances out; the BBC views the show as an international product, not just something made for the locals. (I'll agree with you about The Weeping angels follow-up being disappointing).get out while you can. season1 with CE brought back The Doctor with a vegeance, DT did a great job keeping it going, and then along comes our new writer and he has quickly killed off the franchise. Ratings are way down for a reason since Moffet got control.
Personally I'm loving Smith in the role and also see him as giving Baker a run for the money. Tennant did too for me, but then you have to factor in some really bad episodes like his final two-parter. I find the show now has episodes that are only forgettable instead of awful. It also has something Tennant's era seemed to lack: no matter how dull you may find an episode's big picture, the moment to moment dialogue crackles just about every time someone opens their mouth, which can gloss over a number of sins in my book. -
Quote:When getting ready for work tonight after five hours of sleep and only two swallows of coffee, I was able to feed, bathe and clothe myself and managed to NOT set the cat on fire, get my hand caught in the toaster or lodge my keyboard in my pants (although that was a close one).I'm guessing the reason it's not up for best animated picture is because it's nominated for Best Picture. Unfortunately I don't think it's likely to win Best Picture but what can you do sometimes.
Apparently accomplishing those goals used up what meager mental resources I have so when I scanned through the list, all that caught my eye was the animated category and for some reason my brain burped up "what, no Hugo?", a film btw that I did once mistake for being animated until I saw it.
So please ignore the brain-burp. Do not ignore my advice to see the film in 3-D however, or link my disdain for KFPanda to my mistake. -
I can't believe that Hugo wasn't nominated in the best animated category. Solid story, great effects and 3-d plus it was a valentine to films in general, Hollywood usually eats that stuff up. Kung Fu Panda 2? Seriosuly?
If you haven't seen it yet and can find it in 3-D, oh please go do so right now! -
