Best place for Tips?

Wheres the best place to take Tip missions? Whenever I am in PI and claim Tips, it seems to send me all the zones. But in Atlas it usually keeps the missions to Atlas. Is there actually a rhyme or reason to claiming Tips?

I usually use Atlas for running tips, because it seems to be fairly consistent with giving the missions in the same zone. There seem to be some tip missions that are coded to be in a specific zone, and those will be in that zone no matter what you do. For others, abandoning the mission and re-taking it can sometimes get you a door in a different zone.

At level 40-50, there are only two tip missions that will take you out of Atlas (You're a Cruel One, Mr. Phipps and Shattered Jar of Flesh, IIRC). At level 30-40, all tip missions can be done in Atlas. I'm not sure about the lower level ones.

From what I can tell, it's based upon the type of door for the mission. For example, if it needs a cave door and there isn't that type of door in the zone, it'll take you to a zone that has that type. In the case of the two I mention above, they need the helicopter and a boat entrance and usually (always?) take you to IP for those missions.

I do my Tips in Talos, so that if I run out of Tips, I can pick off Sorcerers and Ancestor Spirits for badge credit. Mobs in Atlas can't drop tips if you accidentally run out (which is common for me, since I usually speed my tip missions).

You learn pretty quickly which Tips send you out of zone, and can dismiss them when they show up. There's a system in place that makes it so that if you complete or dismiss a Tip, it can't drop for you for a certain length of time. The devs never said how long, but I personally have never seen a Tip that I've dismissed drop again before I completed my daily Tips.

My way is probably not the fastest, but it's the way that makes me happiest.

If you want to load up on tips real fast redside, find a Miner Strike and unload your biggest AoEs. I like spawn diving and using [Hail of Bullets], myself. Just run fast when you're done. :D

I run my L50 Tips in Atlas because it is a relatively small zone, everything is easy to get to, all the "character services" in the game are available there (including a Vanguard DPO in case I want to switch to running iTrials), and I only have to leave for the two in IP as StarGeek pointed out. When I run out of Tips, I just pop into the RWZ and beat up on whatever's around until a Tip drops.

Things you want for tip missions:
1)Majority of the tip missions will be in zone
2)Zone is on the small side, smaller zone means less time spent running to the next mission
3)Zone is lvl 20+ so you can kill mobs for tips if necessary
4)Zone has large mobs or mobs with bosses

All signs point to Brickstown, which is where I've always done my tips.

The zone is relatively small, most of the lvl 50 tips are in zone (I don't run tips at any other level so I wouldn't know about those). If you need to get tips run around the middle of the zone and kill prisoners. Good sized mobs with bosses in almost every mob. Bosses have a higher chance to drop tips.

Talos is way too big, Atlas isnt high enough level, PI doesn't have good mob size and is on the large size, especially if you get a tip that sends you north.

For Red Side, Shark is the best place to get tips because of miner strikes, but many tip missions can't take place in shark. Most villain side tips only appear in either Grandville or Port Oakes. It's stupid. Villain tips are also typically more time consuming. I don't even bother doing villain tips unless I am switching sides.

That's been my experience too. Really, I think most tips always seem set up to send you as far across the zone you're in as they can, I always seem to take one and look at map, rotate to face that way and see something like ".98 mile" on the yellow arrow. >

Well, the best places to get tips are either places with high prices (like a super fancy restaurant) or places with a lot of in-and-out traffic (like, say, Golden Corral or The Sizzler).

In the latter case, you're busier but generally expected to do less, and you can probably expect to earn about $1 per customer you service on top of your regular wages. That might not sound like a lot, but if you average a dollar for every person whose drinks you fill up, you can rack up close to $100 per dinner shift. It's a good way to earn a living while you're just starting out and/or looking for other regular employment, as the money-making shifts tend to be at dinner time when businesses are closed anyways.

In the former case, you'll have few tables and be expected to practically wait on them hand and foot, but you'll average something crazy like $40+ per table. You'll also get to rub elbows with big money, potentially giving you a leg up on future career options if you manage to get a few regulars with whom you build a comfortable level of dialog... and even if you're not looking to move on, your regulars will generally tip better.

Of course, the cornerstone of getting tips is to provide the best service you can, politely and with a smile. Practice good hygiene and keep your dress (or uniform, depending on where you work) as clean as you are able. And a final pointer: when it comes to tips, I always look to make sure that my server is keeping my drink refilled and is prompt when picking up and returning my credit card/change when I pay the bill--do those well, and you're likely to get a 25% tip out of me.

I hope this has helped. Good luck getting those tips!
