    The Determinator

I did in fact pull out my MAN build last night. 1940s MAN was even invited to a team!

I've got a warning blazed in the search field, and reminded the leader of it once I was on board, but they were generous folks and didn't care.

So I've now made it to level 19! Woo! Mind you, this is on a character at least 5 years old now. I don't pull him out often. But I've gotten to the point where I have all 3 Leadership toggles and I leverage my vet/day-job/temp powers like crazy. I'm actually an almost-competent team member!

Oh, pools I'm using: Fighting and Leaping for offense and defense (lvl 20 will be Acrobatics) and Leadership for lessening the general suckage and to help teams. If I ever make it to the mid 20s, I'll pick up Medicine for the last regular pool. I haven't given any thought whatsoever to which epic pool to go for.

But it is cool to see that even a deliberately gimped toon can be fun to play. Definitely keeps you on your toes, and teaches you good pulling and insp-use techniques.
  2. A tale often told, that attracts no attention.
  3. But you'll be able to buy copies of the new costume to put on your own characters!

C'mon, that makes it awesome, right?

Ah, the return of the MAN build. Take a controller, ignore your primary and secondary powers at levels 1, 2 and 4, then start into power pool powers at level 6. Take nothing but power pools from then on.

The OP's version seems a little watered down. Scrapper hit points, a useful inherent, AND you get to take powers from your secondary? Pfft.

Don't be weak, be a MAN! *massively-sized WINK*

I never got mine past level 18, but I've still got him around.

    Good luck to you, OP!

  6. Hm.

I've run this 2-3 times now with experienced people at the helm. Each time we were successful at the trial, not always at the badge gathering.

The only thing that bugs me about it is "Entanglement". I have no idea what entanglement means, what it does, and what I should do about it beyond the fact that some people have 'alpha' and some people get 'beta'.

    * The trial doesn't explain entanglement.
    * The wiki only offers a vague warning: "After the Obliteration Beam fires, leaguemates will be affected by various forms of Entanglement, which are short-term contagious debuffs and damage."
    * Whatever contagious debuffs and damage are happening are overwhelmed by all the other Anti-Matter bells and whistles going off at the same time.

So, to answer the question: Dump entanglement.
  7. Who, given a choice, would not choose Disney marketing over any other marketing team on the planet?

The marvel guys were lucky they lasted as long as they did and should have been shopping their resumes the minute they heard about the merger.
  8. I pre-ordered the Green Album last week, after listening to the tracks on NPR.

    It is indeed awesome!

    East Coast Quake

Checking in as yet another Rockvillian bemused by our 30-second trembling of the foundations of heaven. I know and called plenty of folks working for various governments and a lot of them were forced to mill around outside of their closed-off buildings for an hour or so of fantabulous weather before being sent home.

Long term consequences may indeed be serious, and Turg's video is nothing to laugh at, but so far it's been pretty inconsequential for a nearly 6.0 quake.

    *knocks wood*

    Stay safe, folks!
  10. I can see a use for this in exploring. I enjoy wandering around parts of the game, looking at the environment and the way the mobs are interacting in it.

But I can't see using it interactively in missions. The final mission in Vincent Ross' arc is dull enough already, thank you. I don't need more experiences like that.

    QFT.

I seldom change costumes at all, but I know there's plenty of players for whom that's their favorite part of the game. For them, there's an extra line of print buried in the trainer's dialog tree that gives them access to their favorite part of the game. Good for them!

For me, there's an extra line of print buried in the trainer's dialog tree that does nothing to impact my experience of the game. I don't read any of the trainer dialogue any more and this change does nothing to harm my game.

So I'm wholeheartedly in favor of this change. It makes the game much better for some players and does no harm elsewise.
  12. I was going to suggest the Three Storms, but you've already got the minions covered. And it's hard to imagine Lo Pan as anything less than the boss monster.
  13. What?

    You're not using these guys?

Only the greatest chinese warriors of all time.

I'm now going to have to join Michelle and leave off the soda. THAT is pure awesome!
  15. OK,

We've improved from 'Gawdawful Abomination' to 'Meh'.

These costumes are still pointless ostentation for the sake of ostentation, but they're no longer screamingly abhorrent and do somewhat echo the previous look.

I'd just as soon see the abandonment of the ridiculous amounts of layers, pads and spikiness that every costume option we've seen in the past couple of months has been burdened with, but apparently that's not going to happen.

Welcome to the Circle of Liefeld. It's a fairly deep circle of hell, close by the one set aside for multiple covers, issue Zeroes, and Wizard Magazine.

My only question is this: what are the Carnival of Shadows going to say/do when they discover that the Circle of Thorns, a dark and secretive cult, is now more shiny and colorful than they are?
  16. Hi folks,

I'm back and will be closing bidding tomorrow. There are a couple bids in right now, but you can consider this a *bump* to remind people of the deadline.
  17. These look pretty nice to me!

Of course, I generally 'complete' my build at 40 or so, since I don't play many characters in the highest levels.

Thanks for posting the peek! It's good to see interesting new loot.

*whew* That was more work than I expected. And because it's so long, there may be errors. I tried to be accurate, but I may have miscounted or made a wrong note. The number after each listing is how many of that piece of salvage I have.

However, if there's something on there you see that you want, I'll try to get it to you. Since this is the market forum, I think the fairest way is to simply throw the list open to bids. I don't know which of this stuff is rare any more and I'd rather see good stuff go to people who've put effort into the community by posting here. Also, I appreciate TopDoc's offer to buy it all, but I'm not going to force him to buy up all the trash just to get some stuff he wants. TopDoc, if you really want the Echips and Orichalcums I'll sell 'em to you, but don't feel obligated.

I'm about to go on a camping trip, from Sunday the 31st to Sunday the 7th. I'll take bids via PMs here during that time and close bidding on the 8th of August. Highest bids get the salvage, and I'll work out with the bidders how best to get the salvage to you. I trust that anyone going to the effort to read and post here has the scratch and honesty to pay what the bid on, so I'll probably just send stuff out by global e-mail unless the winners have a preferred method.
  19. I just did a check for ancestral weapons, and there aren't any. I will now go look for the other specific pieces people have asked me about. My inclination is to sell off a couple individual pieces to people who only need a few to complete their collection (if I have any) and then sell the rest to TopDoc.

You know, what I really need to do is go make a list of what I actually have. Hum. I'll try and get back later on today or tomorrow and post that.
  20. I've inherited a couple of old school SGs that still have a couple thousand chunks of base salvage in them. My original plan was to just convert it all into rare invention salvage and hope the RNG was good to me.

After burning through several hundred pieces and getting a noticeable number of clunkers, it occurred to me that I should ask around and see if anyone actually wants this stuff. Is there any particular brand of base salvage that it is better to sell than to convert? Or for that matter, is there any particular piece that someone reading this wants?

I've just gotten tired of the old stuff laying around and I'd like to efficiently get rid of it.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

So Infinity, what are you planning on doing for DXP? I was thinking of throwing something together. Maybe some TFs or a weekend superteam.
Heading off to scout camp with my troop. Although, that's Sunday actually, and the packing won't consume *all* the rest of the weekend. Hmmmm. If I'm around, I may try and team with my emp def some. He's been sitting around doing nothing for too long.
