This does not bode well.....

Pfft. They're marketing flacks. You can walk into just about any restaurant in NYC and order a Perrier from one.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

All it means was that they decided they didn't need two large marketing departments. Happens anytime one company acquires another.

Yeah, I don't know if I see a big problem with this one.

I mean it sucks to be layed off (which sounds like the right term for what happened here...though I know how little that matters to those effected) but they fired marketers. That doesn't really go into how good the film will turn out.

And Marketing is one thing we all know Disney can do!

It makes sense to me, and don't see it as any kind of sign that trouble is headed towards Marvel and Disney. As stated by others. Why have 2 departments that essentially do the same thing? One of them has to go.

Makes sense to me. These were senior VPs- basically oversight managers for promotion and distribution departments without specific portfolios. Knocking them off and bringing their minions under the equivalent Disney controllers is just natural wastage.

Plus Hollywood is big on the "no negative waves" thing. I'm literally about to join the movie business proper and someone's already told me to "smile till your teeth hurt" and "you never have a bad meeting in Hollywood, just no callbacks."

So if someone - even under a veil of anonymity, which is easily pierced - is calling them out as useless desk jockeys, they must have been either pretty damn bad at their jobs or have otherwise managed to seriously hack off their workforce.

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

Who, given a choice, would not choose Disney marketing over any other marketing team on the planet?

The marvel guys were lucky they lasted as long as they did and should have been shopping their resumes the minute they heard about the merger.

The Marvel marketing team were probably going under the assumption that they were going to be absored into the Disney marketing team. However, as Dreamweaver said, it seems they pretty much pissed both sides off. So instead of being offered a position they got the boot.

As the article said, as long as Kevin Feige still has Disney's confidence, I don't think this represents any issue with Marvel Studios except marketing redundancies.

And its not like he has Schindler's List on his resume or anything, but I think most producers in Hollywood would sell their soul for his overall list producer credits.
