Stabilising supply and stabilising prices are two different things.
What's being argued here is that the flippers are creating a 'buffer' of stuff that's still available to buy when all the dirt cheap penny bargain stuff has been bought up.
If the price of the flipper's stuff is slightly higher than the floor, then you can either pay the flipper's prices, or place some bids where you want to and wait.
As to the 'morality' of these arguments and the positions taken by the various opposing sides, I'm staying well clear of it. I'm not a 'hardcore marketeer', I stick solely to the shallow end and make and sell generic IO's, so I'm in no position to make any judgements on practices that I don't use. -
I think the problem may have been that if you buy real world things with in game currency, you potentially run into all sorts of problems, legally. (the tax man may potentially take an interest in this new 'currency' being used to purchase tangible things in the real world, for example)
That, and it's stepping dangerously close to the inverse, which is buying in game things with real world money, which is a serious no-no (see: RMT).
If it was possible to transfer inf between EU and US accounts via gleemail, I'd lob you some to help decorate your base, since my recent marketeering gains have left a slightly sour taste in my mouth, as I think I'm indirectly profiting from an AE exploit (common salvage prices and generic IO's have gone berserk, and rare salvage is down) and that's not something that appeals to me, regardless of the inf having been laundered and starched by Wentworths/BM jiggery pokery... Anyway, this is diverging.
It looks like so far as Paragon Studios are concerned, if you're paying for art, please restrict yourself to real world money. I can understand their POV and potential reasoning though. -
Quote:Whuh? Could you please translate for the hard of thinking (i.e. me)?I've noticed there's a change in lag since we had our servers relocated.
It seems to me there's a direct correlation to automobiles.
When we had the servers in Germany, the lag was like a BMW: Everyone had one and if you didn't you wanted one and it was high quality, and lasted forever.
Now they're moved to the USA the lag is like a Chevrolet: Badly constructed and consumes shedloads of bandwidth, but never lasts long.
My ping has gone up since the servers moved to the US, but my lag has decreased massively.
My ping went from 160ish to 250ish, however with the Frankfurt servers I got frequent but irregular red spikes on the netgraph, lost packets both inbound and outbound, and the experience was choppy as hell.
Since the changeover, I've had none of that choppiness and the netgraph is in general a sea of unininterrupted and even green.
I know that I can't speak for anyone but myself, but for me, I'm happy with the new situation. -
Hmm, this sort of tallies with something that I almost noticed, but didn't put 2 and 2 together with.
KM/SR scrapper, level 21, taking on Protean.
Pop 2 lucks, Practiced Brawler, Power Siphon, hit Protean half a dozen times.
Then get nailed by *his* power siphon because I'm still adjusting to the rooting times on KM and tend to play 2 attacks ahead, so I've always got another one queued (which sort of stuffs up being able to maneuver away from his siphon), get hit by his melee attacks then look up and wonder what happened to my Lucks.
I noticed a few times in that fight (I planted a lot, relearning a new toon that I'd not had out for a while isn't the best idea against an EB, I suppose) that Lucks were vanishing before I thought they should be, but I couldn't be certain that I wasn't imagining it.
I was wondering if his Power Siphon was removing active inspiration buffs from me, but if Power Siphon dropping may doing it, I think I need to test that theory. -

Quote:I don't think it's that, or just that. There is nothing wrong with the software. All they have to do is change the session timeout. It would take them two seconds. For some reason they have decided not to. Maybe they thought it would be more secure to have a short timeout.
Until yesterday, I'd been logged into the boards for about two weeks (which is the longest it's stayed in for a long while), I had to log in again yesterday and fingers crossed, I've stayed logged in since then.
If it was just a short session timeout value, I'd have been logged out long before then.
The problem is that it seems random. Some people stay logged in long term, others constantly have to log back in. Even the same person (talking purely from personal experience here) can have periods where they stay logged in and then suddenly end up being constantly logged out. -
Quote:Depends.Wouldn't that be down to the upgraded hardware rather than geographical position of the server.
My money would be on a little from column a), a little from column b).
To expand a little, one of the main issue I've been having with the Frankfurt servers isn't ping. It's been lost packets and spikes of lag, which as far as I could tell were down to the routing from me to Frankfurt.
Now this is based on only one nights play, but the routing to the new location seems to be less prone to such glitches and as a result, the improvement on lag hill could well be a combination of improved server hardware and a more reliable path to/from the server.
YMMV -
I got to 11, then stalled.
Several time, I could remember the general theme of the title, but not the exact name -
Quote:I've seen it referred to as 'Percussive Maintenance', too.Concussive maintenance; helping ease rage since the dawn of electronics.
Regarding the server move and new hardware.
Frankfurt - ~160msec ping, but constant lost packets and red netgraph spikes. Auctions have been laggy as hell for the last month or few.
Shiny new server in US - ~250msec ping but no spikes of lag. Auctions much more responsive.
So, about 66% increase in ping time, however it was overall a much smoother experience tonight than I've had in a long while. (took my Dual Blades/Willpower scrapper out for a run, as brief lag spikes can play hell with keeping combos going, no problems at all.)
Works for me. -
Quote:Nice to hear opinions from someone who is so obviously an expert on transatlantic migrations of highly complex IT systems and their commissioning on brand new hardware...Is it just me who thinks 6 hours is far too long! infact its a bloody ridiculous amount of time... and on my day off too.
Plus why bring back NCSOFT EU and then move servers are they all gunna be out of a job again or what.
At the moment, yes, I does look like just you.
I'm pleased at this information myself, and I hope for the sakes of the IT bods, moderators that will have to deal with any board fallout and the EU players that all goes as smoothly as can be hoped for. -

I never use the ourobouros portal from within Cimerora or the Midnighter club.
I'd rather that there was another force more or less escaping the notice of ourobouros that could potentially oppose them should their actions prove less than benign for us.
<shrug>
A minor matter of RP reasoning influencing gameplay, but it works for me -
Oh, I don't know.
5 parts for a little more to all 3 positions of defence?
Not necessarily the most efficient use of slots maybe, but I wouldn't just write it off.
Nowhere near the same scale in absolute terms as the one above, but I was what I estimate to be a 1000x overpay beneficiary earlier on :
so in relative terms, I think this one stings a little more -
Quote:It's odd, but it's likely to be a month or so until I get round to using any of the bits from the pack. Not because I haven't bought it, because I have, but because I'm not a complete costume addict.Oi! Nobody else is enjoying this pack? C'mon now, show us your screenshots!
Pretty much all of my alts have one costume that is 'them', and I don't tend to mess around with it.
<runs from the board that is more or less the home of costume screenshots being booed and dodging a hail of overripe fruit>

The perfect present for the 6" tall chemist in your life.
Oh and for general science geekiness :

Missy, for EU players at least, use the link posted above by Avatea. I bounced off the first time just using the store to find it, but using Avatea's link, it worked fine for me.
For US players, I hope a working link is found and posted by someone. -
Quote:I think the zombies use the same logic as Rikti do during one of their invasions.Made this discovery ToTing last night. Not sure if this is universal or just the particular door we were at, but during a zombie apocalypse, at one point everyone was in a doorway that was inset from the sidewalk (btw, LOVE these alcoves with Bonfire and other KB powers!) and the zombies stopped spawning. Thinking the event was over, we stepped out into the sidewalk and zombies instantly started spawning again. So, maybe this happens everywhere, or maybe just at this particular door in PI, but it's a good way to either avoid the zombies or at least reduce the spawn count.
If you're travelling or have something over your head, you're safe.
If you're stood mostly still in the open, prepare for corpses clawing their way out of the grave, or invaders from a parallel dimension.
Also, if you're looking for EB's, then stay grouped in a tight area and take them down as fast as possible.
There's a post somewhere... <insert 10 minutes digging through the boards here>... ah, here it is.
It explains how the Rikti invasions work. So far as I can tell, the same rules apply to the Zombies too. -
Quote:You only need to be wearing a costume when you click the door.Sadly that is going to make it impossible for one of my characters to get a haloween tip mission.
I am disappointed.
I have a tri-form peace bringer. In human only form he has a number of nifty utility powers, and two attacks. His teeth and his ability to fight lay in Nova and Dwarf form. Neither can use a costume unless things have changed from the past.
Click the door while wearing a costume, and immediately shift to whatever form you want. You've got a couple of seconds 'grace time' anyway, as the mobs are 'unaffected' for a short while as they come out of the door.
If it's a treat, then back to human form and costume, and click next door. If a trick, then you're in whatever form you want in order to fight the spawn. -
Possibly, but not when it comes to my character roster.
All my toons are sorted in order of their creation. Deliberately and manually, since the order got scrambled a couple of times and I had to put them back into the order I'm used to.
What?!? <_< >_> -
Quote:That statement depends entirely on what powers you have from outside Robotics.I personally like the new one better. I use to hate the scatter the burn would cause, the new one does less damage but it sticks for the total duration wihtout the need of a AoE Immob. In the long run I think ith would do more damage as all ticks apply.
I'm Bots/Traps/Mace, and against a single target, I had no trouble at all getting full damage out of Incendiary Swarm Missiles. Web Grenade is sort of useful that way.
I'm now getting about 1/3rd of the damage from ISM's under identical circumstances.
The Fear effect was a non-issue in cutting ISM damage down, the main issue was the damn Assault Bot following up Incendiary Swarm Missiles with plain old normal Swarm Missiles, and knocking half the spawn out of their burn patches...
Oh, and to the OP, this is the thread you're looking for, and as far as I'm aware ISM's are still running at about 1/3rd of the total damage output they used to.
To me though, Robotics has a bigger problem which has had no dev response that I'm aware of - the piggin' moronic AI which is determined to run into melee regardless of range to target, current orders or anything else I've tried to get them under control. Why yes, it does annoy the hell out of me, why do you ask? -
Quote:Are you EU or US?It's unfortunately scrolled out of his Most Recent list now, but I'm pretty sure my Defender got Hell and Back in June of this year.
Everyone I've seen mention Deadly Apocalypse events on live outside of Hallowe'en has been a US player.
I'll be happy to have that little conjecture proven wrong though -
Quote:I've seen this mentioned a few times here and there, but what's confusing me is the mention of off season Deadly Apocalypse events.I'm pretty sure the off-season Zombie and Deadly Apocalypse events are tied to turning in costume salvage, but I agree that both of them need to not be. Save the apocalypses for Halloween and leave the rest of the year out of it.
I don't think I've ever seen a Deadly Apocalypse event outside of Hallowe'en.
I've seen Zombie Apocalypse events on a semi-regular basis, however.
Any other EU players out there remember seeing a Deadly Apocalypse during the off-season? -
Quote:I can chew through all bar the two 'pier' spawns, futz with the doodads and flatten the end boss before the time runs out on my Katana/Regen scrapper. Admittedly, only on +0/x2, but I thought it was pretty good going, myselfMy 50 en/en blaster with stealth on and a trayful of lucks can speed/stealth to the futzers and futz them all and then get to the end boss before the thing runs out. I stopped doing this so fast once I realised that I can get the wossname badge too if I let it run out, though, but it's better coping with the geezers when you're in the last room I find.
No spoilers there, hopefully
And regarding Damz's issue, I don't get turned around, because I always have the map up on screen, and after 5 and a bit years of practice, there's a little part of my brain that uses that to keep me going where I want to without having to really think about it too much. -
Quote:Just to reiterate what's mentioned in that thread, I've noticed that the inf monitor is not always accurate. The number on your ID card or on the market interface is.Incidentally, I discovered what appears to be an error with the inf system's math while doing this.

Quote:IIRC, the Wedding pack brought VEAT's forward an issue. I'm not sure if it's an issue any more, since that was when they were ramping up the team size, I think.Just had a thought, the first major pack was the wedding pack correct? Remember them saying they were able to bring content forward because of enough people purchasing it. Is that still the case devs/mods regarding how well boosters do?
So far as this pack goes, I'll be getting it, after skipping the Party Pack. What I can see of the art quality in the video is enough to sell it to me, and more auras and capes available at character creation can't be a bad thing, IMO.
And that's all it boils down to. Get the pack if you personally see value in it, don't if you don't. <shrug>
