Halloween Tip Mission

I hate those small paths before you get to the portal! The amount of times i've turned around on myself due to fighting enemies and end up back at the start is already in to double figures!

[love the map really though i want a proper maze map!]

Batman (Adam West) taught me how to navigate mazes.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

What is with those rapid waves of You know what's. I lost count after 6 of them. I was soloing the tip mission and I hate to think how large the mobs would be on a full team.

It's about 5 waves. I rather like the mission, and if you're careful the waves arn't that bad. You just need to pick a good point to stand your ground and be ready to fight. The map and the mission though? Love 'em. Very good atmosphere with the darkness and use of the mobs' aura effects.

My 50 en/en blaster with stealth on and a trayful of lucks can speed/stealth to the futzers and futz them all and then get to the end boss before the thing runs out. I stopped doing this so fast once I realised that I can get the wossname badge too if I let it run out, though, but it's better coping with the geezers when you're in the last room I find.

No spoilers there, hopefully

It's also a lot easier if you wait in the first room and take the ambushes there. Admittedly, we only did it because one of the team had to go afk and we were waiting for them, and it's a bit of a time waste otherwise. But it was easier

However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

I can chew through all bar the two 'pier' spawns, futz with the doodads and flatten the end boss before the time runs out on my Katana/Regen scrapper. Admittedly, only on +0/x2, but I thought it was pretty good going, myself

And regarding Damz's issue, I don't get turned around, because I always have the map up on screen, and after 5 and a bit years of practice, there's a little part of my brain that uses that to keep me going where I want to without having to really think about it too much.

Stealth.

Ninja Run & Swift did it for me on my lvl 35 scrapper.

I just run past everything and go straight for the Boss (pause at the last spawn so they don't make the last fight too tricky). Then wait for the timer to run out and kill everything else afterwards.

I should say that the first time we did it the 'right' way, clearing all and soaking up the atmosphere, and it's a great little mission IMO. We didn't manage to futz all the tjingamummybobs in time, but the waves of how's-yer-fathers that appeared in the second doodad room just added to the gecticness rathercthan being a team-killer. Tge mission seems nicely balanced to me. Good work, devs.

I should point out that I would have done it the right way, but my 'heck it's a timed mission with a stupidly short timer!' instinct kicked in when I entered and I panicked!

I saw the timer and thought "oh so 5 mins before they arrive? FOOLS! They have no idea what they are getting themselves in for!"

Running it for the first time on a tank I decided the you-know-what ambushes were never going to end so I left one of them alive. It followed me all over the mission doing little 10 point bops to me once in a while so no big deal. After the end boss reward I went ahead and killed it. Imagine my surprise when I only got one more ambush.

SIX waves? See now I am jealous Forbin. When I discovered the "You know what" attacking I wanted the defeat badge. I never got more than five 3 man spawns on any solo mission. I have run a few of them on teams and its sort of hard to judge how many there were mainly because with that many we got lieutenants and bosses along with minions and of course those take the place of several minions.

Anyway I am enjoying the mission. I do have a question though. I helped Beta test Preatoria and have taken a few characters through there since it went live. We do see Longbow and Arachnos during contact missions but I don't recall a single mission involving Circle of Thorns. Supposedly there is almost no magic in Praetoria and since canon usually explains their presence in a zone as them searching for new magic they can steal (which is how they explain them showing up in the Shadow Shard).. Exactly why are they suddenly setting up shop in the underground? My guess.. It's Halloween and they are the "SPOOKY" villian group. As to why the YOU KNOW WHAT are there.. the Devs gave us all a chance to earn a Praetorian badge without starting a character in Praetoria.. HAPPY HALLOWEEN :-D

The Circle of Thorns there arn't Praetorians, they're the Primal Circle. In their ongoing quest to hide the book, they're resorting to try and keep it in Praetoria to keep people from stealing it. They even mention that it takes them a bit long to cast their spells there.

Am I missing something? Is there a reason to avoid saying what the ambushes are? I mean, it tells you the second you enter the mission exactly what's coming.

Frankly, I don't bother futzing or fighting. I stealth/speed to the end, kill the boss, click the badge and go. Any time I've stopped to futz, it's taken far longer than the time bonus I got from the futzing.

That's pretty much the reaction Code Monkey and I had, too.

It really is a great little mission... The NPC dialogue made me chuckle, seeing all the glowing eyes in the dark made me grin, and even though somebody seems to have been getting his fashion advice from Maestro, the last room was fun.

And I want those arches in the entryway room for the Elysion base. Shiny!
