I think I accidentally paid something like 15 million for an Inanimate Carbon Rod a few nights ago, but since I was just burning inf trying to get myself under the cap so I could claim an email I don't think I'll miss it much.

Wasn't me either. Wonder who else plays that IO.

*wince*

It's not even a good set...

Oh, I don't know.

5 parts for a little more to all 3 positions of defence?

Not necessarily the most efficient use of slots maybe, but I wouldn't just write it off.

Nowhere near the same scale in absolute terms as the one above, but I was what I estimate to be a 1000x overpay beneficiary earlier on :

so in relative terms, I think this one stings a little more

For certain melee characters trying to softcap smashing/lethal, it is an EXCELLENT set. That's why it sells so well despite being a mere uncommon set.

Yeah its a decent enough set if you're softcapping s/l. I have quite a few toons I've used it on actually.

I always thought the numbers were too small to be worth it. *shrug*

To each their own.

Dang, it is one of mine, but I didn't get any of those sales, suspect mine had already gone by then.

In the process of re-working my fire/axe tank pretty much *all* the advice I've gotten supports Reactive Armors in my resist powers.

It's been my experience whenever 'everyone' likes a set the admiration is justified...

Its cheap, abundant and adds +Def to S/L

I use it a lot, usually to four slots for the S/L, E

I take it they're not cheap and abundant any more?

Well, heck.

(they were a few months back!)

Not for the guy who paid 221M.

It provides more typed defense than any other resist set. Other sets are better for positional defense but provide less typed defense for more slots.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

Yeah. I usually get the bulk of my bonus L/S resist from my attack slotting, but RA is nice for that last few percent to drive home towards the soft cap.

In a vacuum, perhaps they would be, but if you have a number of RES powers that you have to enhance anyway, and you're looking for typed DEF bonuses, Reactive Armor is the way to go.

Not long ago, I bought and crafted a handful of these at that level for frankenslotting a tank I'm working on and let them sit on my stalker market toon until the tank was ready for them (yes, I know, "waste of slots" and all that, but she's a lazy marketeer). Somewhere along the way I must have decided I had one too many so I put it up for sale - I think. I don't remember doing it, maybe I accidentally clicked on it in my "stored" and put it up for sale, who knows at what price.

So I log in my stalker marketeer one day... hm, perhaps it was about the 7th?... and I found I'd sold one of these that I didn't even know I had put up for sale. It sold for 200mil, which was about exactly one extra zero above the last five prices. That cash went straight to a troller I'm slotting up and despite buying some IOs already, he's earned enough to keep his bankroll above 200mil.

So either this error is "going around" or someone 'round here has found another way to burn inf for teh lulz.
