  1. /em hug Positron - Your gonna need it

This is a nice gesture but it only address one concern about ED, the weakening of Stamina. It also puts a bit of a limit on how we can slot powers...why slot for endred if it is built in?

What needs to be addressed is the fundamental flaw in the ED idea, what it seeks to address, and how this goal can be reached without majorly altering the game.

The primary flaw is that is globally reduces the abilities of every AT, every power across the board. Some can be altered to work by adding accuracy and recharge but some are just messed up by this change.

Why even bother with this type of change? What is the goal for making this change and how will it improve the game experience for the community?
  2. Why???

Hoestly, I am more upset with Burn being changed all the time than anything else. If you find it that much of a problem power why even keep it. Dump the power and give fire tanks another offencive DoT, something that will still let us be the more offencive of tanks without making us have another useless power.

Because if you dont we will be seeing the exact same thing againe in issue 6, and 7, and 20. Why bother?
  3. My honest opinion...and some spoilers in here so be warned if you have not read issue 1 and 2 yet.

I liked issue 1. Sure it was a bit rushed, but I expected that. They had to get the story moving very fast, and the cliff hanger at the end was really good.

Now...issue 2....I am not liking it. Read it 4 times now and it is just not giving me the "woah" fealing of issue 1. We are at ANOTHER "is states dead" cliffhanger. It worked for issue 1....move on.

Not liking the whole Zeus thing, or the greak mythology addition to the story. While this may be what was planned all along (there are hints everywhere) it just does not sit right with me. Perhaps if it was told a bit different, or if States did not act arrogent I would enjoy the concept more.

And the moving to the other plane of reality....blech, not needed. I think it would have worked better to have them try and work with some of the villian groups to gain there powers back.

And every issue starts like somebody looking at a recording of it all....guess that will be explained in future issues but it is kind of annoying.

    Again...just my opinion.
  4. I hit 50..

    Yeah...I know....who the <bleep> are you?

Well, after 5 days, I've pretty much run the course for PvP. It was fun at the start as I was learning how to play it and what worked and what didn't, but not any longer. Here is what I've determined (and I only make claims for myself, since other players using other ATs will have a different impression.)

Inv/SS Tanker is what I play.

Fighting other tankers: Pointless. It's gotten to the point where I don't fight them and they don't fight me. Occasionally there's a hold, or a debuff, or toggle drop or something else that turns a tank into a squishie and can therefore be worthwhile to attack but 90% of the time you'll have more fun going after a squishie. Heck, even non-tankers find it generally pointless to attack tankers. The point of a tanker is to take hits but if no one attacks you, what is the point? Not sure how the Devs can resolve that problem. Not fun.

Taunt: Broken, useless, and rediculously powerful all at the same time. If you're taunted, you run away until the taunt wears off - useless and not fun. If you taunt defenders and/or blasters, they become completely useless and it is not fun for them - rediculously powerful. Anyone gets perma-taunted - completely not fun - broken.

Radiation: If you're hit by this, it's all over. You might as well be perma-held at least until you die which is sometimes not quick enough. Not fun.

Force Field Defenders: I don't know if they're all a**holes but every one I've encountered so far at some point activates that shield thing that basically makes them impossible to hit and then type "lol" and "lmao", or read a newspaper as you try to hit them. Not fun. All I gotta say is be wary of being unsportsmanlike to a tanker with a broken taunt power and a short temper...

Terrorize: Basically the same thing as a perma-hold. Not fun and yet people still insist on using it even after being told of its rediculousness. I started having a rule, if you use terrorize, I use taunt. Then no one will have fun.

Holds in general: any time you are stuck for a length of time unable to do ANYTHING it is not fun. And in the arena, this is true far too often. Running from one held character and pounding them down to another held character just isn't fun. It's also not fun being on the receiving end sitting there looking at your held character for minutes on end.

Superspeed: I'm sick and tired of chasing people all over the map only to get one attack off every 30 seconds or so when I happen to get in range. Other travel powers aren't so hard to deal with but fighting anyone using their travel power with a melee character is not fun at all.

Bugs: the whole non-toggle passives shutting off after death is so incredibly annoying. You might as well type /requestexitmatch 1 when this happens.

Gameplay in general: PvP is simply a gank fest in nearly every match. Someone gets held, terrorized, or basically gimped in some way and then everyone on the opposing team beats them to a pulp. Rinse and repeat - not fun regardless of whether you're the ganker or gankee. Usually it's the squishies that have the hardest time. It seems they are either totally screwed or they are uber-powerful to pointless extremes and not a whole lot in-between. Very, very rarely is there an interesting balance of ATs in a match that makes it fun for everyone.

There is almost always one team that has a decisive advantage over another because of some power they have that the opponent doesn't, and then they simply trounce the opposition. I've been on teams that were doing the trouncing and been trounced in the same way and neither way is fun.

To play 10 matches before playing one that is fun and/or a challenge is a very poor ratio and after only 5 days (really 5 sessions of a couple of hours each), I'm tired of it.

I'm beginning to believe that the devs will never be able to change it to anything less. Powers might see some better balance eventually and the bugs will be fixed but it's always going to be some form of rock/paper/scissors and you can only play that game so long before it really gets old.

If anything, there should be other games that can be played in the arena. Things like capture the flag, some sort of race, paintball/laser tag, or something. Some sort of activity where you can compete with others without it being a test of how much damage you do.

Great post. Really hits the basic problems in PVP without siding with one AT or power set.
  6. I remember the invasion at the end of Beta
I remember a time before the first burn nerf
I remember the day Pie took over the forum.

    Ahhh...the good ol' days

    Cheetah
Any Vox (Onux_Vox does come to mind..that sewer trial was fun with 2 tanks )
    Polaris
    The Sunday RP crew
    Hamster

And all the members of Legends who have moved on to other games. Good people there.

I know I am missing people. I am bad with names

  10. 2 days ago I finished the first Malta story arc (Melvin's rescue). Every mission in the arc was made up of+1 mobs (I am 40, they were all 41..nothing less than yellow for the entire arc). I was solo for the whole arc.

Did not bother me since I am a tank, but I do not know if it may have been a bug based on your statment.
  11. <<Engage Battle Armor>>

Surges of green fire circled the Cyborg as he lay on the broken ground. His normally blue power paths on his armor surged with red power as the energy from the flames fed the nano-repair system. The dented armor quickly flexed back into shape and was altered to a new form.

    <<Armor Active.>>

Calash was now in a red and black armored suit. Both his human hand and his robotic hand were now encased in powerful robotic gloves. This was the battle armor he has gotten from Crey, a gift he acquired during his short stay at one of there research facilities. They had helped him heal and upgraded his systems.

The rejuvenated Cyborg retuned to his feet and charged at the back of the creature, striking him with a tremendous force that seemed to cause it to stumble for a moment. As it turned to see what had hit it the ground erupted in flames, engulfing the monster, Calash, and all near by. The heroes only felt a mild warmth even though they stood in the middle of a raging fire, but this was by design. The Rikti Plasma generator that fueled Calash’s fire powers could be aligned not to injure specific targets. Only those who were targeted would feel the true heat of the blaze, and only the giant monster was the target.
  12. Calash momentarily dropped to one knee and slammed both his hands into the pavement. Grasping at the now shattered roadway he effortlessly lifted a large chunk of dirt, rock, and asphalt over his head.

    "Engaging target"

With all his strength he send the massive chunk of rock flying at the beasts head. At the same moment he leapt forward and struck the monster it it's chest at the same moment the heavy rock landed upon it's head. It was a combination of attacks that would level even the strongest of villains.

The creature did not move. The ground beneath it's feet was now cracked from the force of the blow, but it still stood there.

It's mammoth hand quickly wrapped around the cyborgs body and began to squeeze intent upon crushing the armor like a paper bag.
  13. Calash stood for several moments silently gazing at the quickly failing door. Though he seemed silent his internal systems raced to establish an uplink to the video monitors.

    “Woah…..”

It was a much more human statement than normally came from the cold Cyborg. The video feed showed the carnage on the other side of the door, the giant beast that was ripping apart a structure not even Nemesis could break down.

<<Target ID: Unknown, creating new record>>

<<Target ID #2332 linked to energy reading #998476563>>

His internal systems continued to ramble on as he gazed at the image in his head. He was so focused upon the image that it took a moment before he responded to Sol-Ar.

“Greetings Sol-Ar, My ID is Calash”

    <<Target ID: Sol-Ar. Data retrieved. Registered Hero>>

The Cyborg stood for a moment longer, once again fixated upon the giant door as the surrounding wall began to fail. Red arcs of energy began to jump across his body as his defense systems powered up. With a bright flash flames suddenly burst out around him, enveloping his body in a Fiery Shield. A small amount of heat radiated over the nearby people, much less than one would expect from flames of that size.

    “Tricks….yes, I have a few tricks.”

His robotic hand clenched in anticipation of what would most likely be a dangerous battle.

"We must stop the target here. If it gets lose in the city the loss of life with be more than the city transporters can handle"
  14. <<Power Surge detected>>

Calash landed on the top of a building, the force shook the building as his massive bulk impacted the roof. As the dust settled he stood up and looked out at the surrounding buildings. Though he seemed very peaceful the computers in the cyborgs head were very active.

    <<Classifying power type>>

<<Unknown power type. Creating new record>>

<<Power levels exceed all known recorded levels. Unable to determine source>>

For a moment he stood there contemplating the information he was seeing. Something had entered the city and it was big. More troublesome was the fact that he could not identify it. Even with the recent invaders he was able to classify the power as magic in origin, but this was something totally different.

<<Police transmission detected. Unknown enemy approaching Atlas Park>>

Quickly the Cyborg leapt from the rooftop, streaking across the sky as he jumped from building to building. Very quickly he arrived at the tram. Without wasting any time he moved onto the tram to get to Atlas park.

The first thing Calash noticed when he stepped off of the tram was that the ground was shaking. People were running away in horror from what they though were tremors from a small earthquake. His scanners told him otherwise, the tremors were from pounding on the Perez Park gate.

As he arrived he was greated with a shocking site. The massive doors were being pounded on from the other side. The metal was buckling under the tremendous force that was being applied to each attack. Calash stood there for a moment, his sensors analyzing the door, inspecting it’s strength. He then approached Cap. Fletcher

    “What is causing this damage?”

His voice was very robotic, yet a hint of human emotion lingered in the statement. He was worried, something very powerful was on the other side of the door…more powerful that anything he had encountered in his 39 security levels of service.

He paused for a moment before continuing.

“The door super structure is failing. ETA to failure…..5 minutes.”
  15. Calash

    Anyone else?

I recently pulled my capes off of my costumes. They looked cool but they really did not fit with the hero.

Still got aura effects on all 3 costumes

The devs didn't think ahead, everybody exploited and it will probably be fixed next year.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um - actually, this is exactly how we planned it. We had fun with it. And people seem to be having fun with it (hence the several threads). So, um, no, this isn't exploiting, IMHO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where is the origional poster's responce to this? Hmmmm?

Heaven forbid there is something fun in the game....OH THE HORROR!!!

States.....I got a big piece of pumpkin pie for you to thank you for the event. Made lots of pie helping to take down Mr. Pumpkin Head and his bucket of parts.

    You da man
  17. In a freak accident a truck carrying a delivery from the Acme Caltrop factory struck Calash as he respawned in the street. The resulting crash cause 10000000000389378477838273849278382784 and 1 caltrops to fly through the air landing on Mollusk. Mollusk is slowly crushed by the weight of the debuff icons and boredom of trying to move out of them.

The shockwave of the nuke knocks Calash into a paralell universe populated by Hellians. Oh the horror!!!
  18. In a dark room sits a single table illuminated by a shaft of light that pours in from the ceiling. On the table is a scrap of paper, wrinkled and old as though it has been there for years. Upon this ancient piece of parchment are scribed some words from a tongue no longer known to man. They describe events from over 1000 years ago, during the dark ages. It was then that the great loard of the land put forth a decree to have all the children gathered to the town square. Here they were fed olives until they could eat no more.

Meanwhile Calash kills you all with his lack of spell check, grammer, and point to this post.
  19. Calash is a cyborg...this explains his supirior strength.

When he was built a Rikti Plasma Generator was installed in his system. Over time he learned to generate fire fields for protection as well as use the fire to attack.

During his battles he stumbled upon a small device that used nano-tech to pass various chemicals to a target. While not able to be deadly he was able to alter the device to alter a targets mind, sending them into a blind rage to attack him. Used with his plasma generator he can gather enemies and then set them on fire, quickly arresting many.

Stuff that is not a power:
Calash has a split personality. One part is the computer systems that run his robotic body parts including his targetting aray. The other is what is left of his human side, struggling to exsist in this new forum. The computer side makes him the ideal hero for tasks that will involve computers. The human side liks to hang out and the dance club and try to remember what it was like to be organic.
  20. Talk about insane spawn rates....

Was wandering around PP and ran into the Kraken. I am lvl 37 so I get nothing for it but I helped out the lower level heroes fighting him... Not 10 second later he respawed infront of us.

Took him out and he respawned 10 seconds later in the exact same spot again.

he did this a total of 4 timses before giving up and not re-spawning.

    Was fun to help out
  21. Exemplar is like the chat system, a social tool. Dont like it....dont use it

The problem is that the tool has so many other possable uses, do TF's you missed, do story arcs you missed, and similar stuff like that. It could be expanded a lot, but as it is now just think of it like the chat box...nice to have there to interact with others but no benefit to your hero.
  22. Calash turns and with a mighty leap he leaves the battle.

(ooc: Sorry, but having what should be an epic battle ended with one over powered attack really is not fun for me. Good Luck)
  23. The ground began to tremble as the Babbage gathered it’s power for the blast. Waves of heat and light washed over the nearby heroes as the ball of pure electrical power was formed. In a moment that seemed to take forever the mighty robot took aim at the heroes, it’s eyes locked upon it’s prey.

A large slab of rock suddenly flew into view from behind the heroes, striking the Babbage in the head and sending it falling backwards into the ground. At the same moment the blast launched, but instead of striking the heroes it shot into the air, arcing through the sky before erupting in a brilliant explosion that illuminated the entire block.

    “The target is still active!”

The robotic voice echoed across the battlefield. In the distance Calash stood there, his robotic arm extended out with a clockwork cog caught in his grasp. His fingers slowly bent the metal as the helpless robot tried to electrocute the Cyborg. In moments the fradgle body stopped moving. Soon after the lifeless metal carcus was sent flying into a nearby group that was approaching, causing them to fall like bowling pins.

“Energy build up detected. It is getting back up.”

Movement from the metal giant confirmed that the Babbage was about to return to it’s feet.
  24. Thank you for posting. It clears a bunch of things up.
