Quote:Good examples, but how about Hellion, skull, outcast, and every other Con in the game. No, don't think that taunt is a auto win.Taunt isn't always autowin. For as long as I can remember it never was. Different NPCs will react differently towards it. I've seen aggro'd Devouring Earth take some pulling which was least expected. Clockwork and Nems that's to be expected but AI is what it is for a reason Devs should know. I doubtful that there is a major problem with the aggro formula itself.
But it should be able to keep cons off others or even you Vet pet if there is only lets say 3 hellion cons, that you are attacking and taunting at the same time. They should not pull off you and attack something else immediately after you taunt and hit it with a attack from a tank, but that is exactly what is happening. So that means taunt and gauntlet are not working worth a big steaming pile.
The other night I was playing my Fire Kin Troller with a buddy and his fire fire tank. I had to turn off my hotfeet and couldn't even use my heals or buff, or the group he was fighting would ALL pull off him and attack me. Finally had to buff him and stay in a total other room or around corner just so he could keep aggro of groups set a +2/2.
I held Top Killer on Justice for 6 months back in I3, I have over 50 level 50s and most are tanks/brutes/scrappers, I have tanked for groups on every TF, IT, and every mission this game has in my 7 years in the game. The problem with the problems that I seem to find is not that I have ever had problems proving them to other people, It's that most do such large groups that they are beyond aggro cap and don't do smaller groups so they never notice that stuff is not working right. Like the unregistered extra damage that Vahzilok do. Discovered this on my regen scrapper. Went from 300 hit points to dead in 1 shot from a Vahzilok minion. looked at my combat tab and the minion did 102 damage to me but yet I was dead with 300 hp. Didn't add up, so tried it again and again and got same effect. Sent bug report and got told I didn't know what I was talking about and it wasn't happening. Kept happening for about 3 more patches and stopped. Now not saying they stealth fixed it or anything, more thing along the lines that it was a bug from something totally unrelated to the group. But thats the point they have been putting out these, to put it nicely, bug ridden patches, compounded on bugs that are already in game. Soon they wont know how to fix the problems they are getting because there not fixing the problems that are already there. Compound, compound, compound, soon you have no idea what way is up.
No, I will repeat that Taunt and ill add Gauntlet are not working properly and its been going on for a while.
Just a quick comment on the thread as a whole. I personally find the 4 melee classes (with the addition of the stalker changes) to be pretty balanced. But what do I know I tank with basically all my toon's even my blasters. But that is basically out of necessity. -
I personally would just like to see taunt work right. It is broken right now, and has been for a few issues now. Well that or they nerfed it and didn't tell us. But after the borked up thing that was the patch before this last one I am pretty sure its bugged...
In case anyone hasn't noticed anything can make a con break off taunt including a healer coming in range and just healing. Something is way wrong with taunt. -
Quote:I am very sorry for the troubles. Now you know my 7 years with this game and support. I highly recommend that you phone contact with Sales. Its the only place I have gotten support outside live in game GM's.I have two accounts (mine and my wife's). Neither has gotten a reward token since Freedom launch. I've filed numerous petitions and been mostly ignored my "Customer Support". Several of the petitions they didn't even reply to, and the ones that they did reply to they were very rude in giving me a form letter that basically said that I'm too dumb to know when my billing date is. The last one actually had a part (an automated field?) that said that I should expect to get my reward token on or around <date> and I should be patient and wait. Thing is, that date was a week earlier. I replied "I know I should expect to have gotten my token a week ago, THAT'S WHY I FILED THIS PETITION". No reply. Not getting my reward tokens, which I paid for, is annoying, but I can live with it for the time being. However, I may just quit if I have to deal with Support again. They are very skilled at making me feel like I'm not wanted as a customer.

So Z, How long tell the damage bugs, armor bugs, and drop bugs get fixed? You know the bugs that started many patches ago!
I mean, I love going into missions with my level 50(+3), fully IO'ed tank and get my *** handed to me by a level 50 minion, because its like I have not armor. Or to beat on a bad guy until I am out of endurance and only have every other hit actually count toward his hit points. You know the "not breaking the game" bugs that you wont even acknowledge that there are.
Now you guys have done some great stuff over the last few years. But your "Full Speed Ahead and never look back," needs to STOP! Or you need to totally redo your systems from how you recieve bug reports to how you test and go live with patches and Issues. Very Piss Poor management skills are being shown by your Co. and I thought it was just Statesman... No, not giving any credit to Jack, Just pointing out that he may have some kind of disease that can be transferred. You all might want to get some blood tests.
All I can say about the whole implementation of patches and new features and were you have decided to take the business model is:
Must fight urge to go to California and line up dev staff, take 5 steps back, raise hand to head level and start running at them screaming "HEY MOE!!!!"
/em KERSMACK
Would rather do this to Tech Support but don't want to break my hand on the Granite.
P.S. Meant half halfheartedly, but not really! -
I really want to be very mean right now but I won't.
I will say disappointment in the management of the Departments and they might want to be checked. Really how does something this F'ed up get out to live. Is it your testing methods? Did someone not do there job in Tech Support and not get you the info that the issue was messed up on Test? Really I would like to know how this happens. And honestly I hope some Management is at least reprimanded for this If not sent on down the road for the Bad implementation of the last few issues.
I am sorry if this seems harsh to some, but really this kind of thing has been done and complained about many times. And honestly I am getting very tired of Not being able to play my game right, because they break it ever issue and then it takes months or many issues (if that soon) to get fixed.
Honestly I will have to jump on the band wagon now, that Paragon owes up some free time to the VIP players.
Bad Paragon no cookies for anyone!!!! -
Sorry, just had to say it. Welcome to my world of the last lmost 7 years with tech support.

Quote:I have noticed this too. Logged off CoH and played about 5 diff. games so was like 3-4 hours later, and I had noticed things being slugish, I opened my area were the speaker and all the programs you have on start up are on the right hand side of start menu, and there was a NCSoft launcher icon for just a sec and then it closed and everything started working ok again. So something is going on.First, my suggestion to kill NCSoft Launcher in Task manager isn't because I thought it was running while you were playing. Many people noted the Launcher was running a separate process that was screwing up the works. And making sure there were no running instances cured them.

Hey all,
I Put an average of 10 toons a day through tip missions. The best drop rate is in Terra Volta.
If you come in through the SG Telepad then go left and kill Freaks and Lost rarely takes more than 3 groups.
If you come in through IP then go right and kill Sky and if for some reason you don't get drops then go kill some freaks and you will get them very shortly.
The faster you kill the groups the the faster and more the tips will drop. A Buddy showed me because we were having same problem. We don't have that problem anymore.
Hope it helps

Quote:Total agree I have been here for every launch but for the original launch of the game from beta, and honestly every launch has been the same. to much time with way, way to many bugs. So I TOTAL agree that there creation of, testing, and release of material should be worked on at the time they are releasing it. I have heard the "well theres only a few of us working on it" to "we are hiring lots of new people" and still no change in how they do things. So maybe they need to start working on just one issue at a time, because they have proven that more than one can't be done right. That wasn't full issue that was just something the gave us due to people complaining about having only 2 trials to do. About as small of an update as issue 15. They might have issues finished quicker if they stopped working on 2 or 3 of them at once and focused all efforts on one issue at a time.
The, well we already worked on that and we are on to something new, just dosen't cut it. I just read a post about someone complaining about one of the costume packs and how stuff was not fitting right. Dev answer " well we did the beast pack a while ago and we have moved on to other things but ill bring it up to the team, but I'm not promosing anything." WHAT???? excuse me??!!! So you put out broken dung again and your not going to fix it???? BS!!!!! And honestly if its the Devs not getting the requests that something is broken well then read my Sig.
As for Freedom being so great and the savior of this game, NOT. Freedom is just going to be a way to get more money out of everyone, even if you pay for game already. Thats the whole idea, wait and see. -

Quote:/signedTo me, it just looks like a bunch of flash and show. I'll reserve judgement for when I can actually -experience- the content before deciding.
The track record so far for releases isn't inspiring. NEW ISSUE!! THIS'LL BE IN IT!! Then the reality. "Oh, we split the release." Not to mention new releases being buggy as all getout and breaking certain other parts of the game I already liked, but now have to wait till a fix is implemented.
I hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Just being realistic and not blinded by colorful and showy screenshots and videos. -
Here are a couple that are I20 Compliant.
First is the one that I am using. Did a Tanker contest one night on who could hold most aggro and survive. I came in a close 2nd and thats a scrapper vs tanksNow also understand this was done before I understood frankenslotting and really how to use the sets right. But still a good build with lots of damage.

This 2nd build is the one I believe I will be going to. Its got less damage and recharge, but better regen/HP, recov/end, Def, Perception, and To-hit.

Hope they help. At the least its a place to start -
I have been saying that for years Silver Gale. But I have always beem told I dont understand how it works. Guess you don't understand now eather. :/ :P
PCGamer use to be a rebal game magazine. They did not care about making anyone happy but the fans. They did there review and to hell with the Companies that made the game, and the review was usally right on. A few years back they went to a solicit magazine, another wise they get payed by the Companies get there review into there magazine.
For these reasons and because of the last real post I read from Jeff Green on why him and the old crew left. I believe nothing that PCGamer has to say about anything anymore.
If I owned a company and eather the Ad company I hired or the Ad Department I had in charge had done this much for me in 5 years, I would have 2 questions, and 1 comment.
1. Were is the money I gave you and what was it used on?
2. What have you been doing for the last 5 years?
C1. Your fired!
There has been some very bad handling of this brand over the years. From bad game change, ie PvP, to bad handling of the promotion of the "Flagship" game..
I will make one suggestion to the Dev Team, If you really do read these, from someone that has been with the game for almost 7 years now, and played about 10-12 hours a day. Every person I have played with that was new and coming from another MMO has said "I came over to check out the PvP. The PvE is great but its just a grind like every other game. I'll play the month/free but the PvP is not that good so its not worth it to me"
PLEASE, I know you guys are full steam ahead but, PLEASE go back and make it better.. I make this request for the love of this game. I in all that time playing have been in the PvP zones maybe 10 hours. So you know its not a PvP arguement, that is what people that are coming to the game want that come to this game. I am sorry you guys are tired of going over the old stuff, I truely am. But you need to fix this.. I will even suffer through a whole issue of nothing but PvP upgrades/fixes (well and some SG base stuff pls). Just so we can get new people to stay with the game.... -
Quote:Before I start my rant, I want to congratulate you on the above - it always amuses me that people find the villain content to be 'dark' or 'disturbing' or some such.... apart from a few exceptions (including some tip missions), the writing of the content is fairly tame, and certainly little 'darker' than hero-side. If I bash Freaks in GV to get a valuable client out of an office building, or I bash Freaks in PI to get a scientist out of an office building, I see little difference. However, I don't role play and, while I appreciate the subtle nuances, the process is basically the same. Most of the time (as said before, there is some villainous writing in the game), it's the player who attaches morality and emotion to a virtual play experience, not the devs.
This thread has much of the same themes as any other thread of this type (including the usual suspects coming in as CoH's official PR person and explaining why hero is 'good' and villain is 'bad').
I'm not going to repeat myself (search posts under my name and you'll see more than one that concerns this topic), but, unlike some would like to believe, 'bigger' is not always 'better'. Which 'side' to play on is an extremely personal choice, but more often than not influenced by external factors, such as;
- The perception of probabilty of finding a team available
- The perception of probabilty of a SG being available and/or active
- (For some) the probabilty to be farmed
- Play preference ('I don't want a dmg/support character to play - I want a Blaster so I can deal damage so I can complete the dmg/healer/tank magic three')
- Content preference ('I want shiny buildings!')
As others have said, it's a catch 22 situation, exacerbated by some people (who I often muse must be paid by NCSoft or the Paragon City government) to counter anything that alludes to villain content with negative comments. Basically, it's all about perception and culture, and I don't think Freedom is going to change that much (the only thing that is that the F2P people will be able to create 2 traditionally villain a/t and send them to Paragon immediately, instead of having to wait 20 levels).
As I've said before, I can tolerate the progressive invisibility of CoV as long as some dev resources are spent on Villain content (e.g. if a new TF that isn't co-op is introduced, I would like a new SF as well, as was done with Morty). I understand that, from a cost-benefit perspective, dev resources are always better spent on Co-op content, or re-doing the old TFs and old hero zones (these are truly needed for those that prefer to play blue-side), but as long as some parity is maintained I'll keep playing the game.
Sorry if I've thread-jacked - it wasn't my intention...
Well said.
Just to add a couple.
I have a few villian side but honestly I do not feel like a villian when I play CoV. It is more like city of naughty heros.
After the 20s on villian side the enemys are just basicly the same as hero, and honestly I would rather be able to find a team to get through it. (Hope the FTP helps with the ability to get teams, but I have my doubts about how effective its going to be.) -
Honestly your not missing anything
You get a whole astral merit and a piece of incarnate salvage. All that and a huge waste of unfun time with the new trial.
Also I would not look for this kind of problem getting better only worse. They have hit a point of not fixing the old bugs and its just compounding with the new ones.
Actully kinda getting sad about there full steam ahead tudes. -
Wow, suprised you didnt just get the "sorry we missed you" email as soon as you logged off.

Quote:/signedI personally didn't find the Keyes trial either interesting or hard. I found it easier to do than the BAF. I was rather unimpressed with it. We just had a PUG and stomped it. I barely did anything on it, just some killing and had 2 of the salvage to use. I felt there was just no imagination or thought of making this difficult at all. I'm guessing the damage aura kinda was annoying, but that really was it. The AV was pretty much a joke to kill, the healing he did just made it a bit longer to give him the thrashing he deserved for annoying us. I even got a rare salvage out of it. My hope in the future is that more ITrials have some sort of actual difficulty in them, not just being an annoyance.
I enjoy a lot of the incarnate stuff, just thought this was kind of a joke.
@Sir Giles
ya I got one astral, one shard, and then a rare. that was it, may have been the right reward for the risk but not enough to make up for the mind numbing play. -
Quote:And that means what about my statement??? still feels rushed and of very poor quality for CoX.It was designed around the same time as the BAF and Lambda Trials
Made of win?
Um, No. More of a matter that is expelled by the body that is waste from the food we digest. Most certanly not win.
But as you can see I changed my statement.
Have a nice day -
Did the Keys SF/TF what ever it is for the first time tonight. I am just still so stunned I do not know what to say. I know not everything can be a big hit but WOW!!!
Disapointed or let down, just are not strong enough words. I really dont know a word to discribe how displeased I am with it.
Please take it back to the drawing board for a total redesign. -
Just tried to join a league and couldn't even get an invite, it said that I was already in Queue and wasn't. Tried everything from zoning to logging nothing worked.
Looks like another fine bug filled launch. 7 years and you can always count on that -
Congratz Ice,
The hardest one for me was a Stalker. Finally made a BS/Regen Stalker and got him to 50 2 months ago. That was it the last one I didnt have. Its quite a goal, and a great adventure to get a 50 of each.
I started in I2, and my first was a BS Regen Scrapper, (funny just thought about it, started with one and ended with same sets) took me 3 months to get her to 50, my second took 3 weeks solo (an ill kin) and the rest have taken anywere from 6 hours to months but ave. about 1-3 month.
The only piece of advice I can give anyone is the wilder the combo of powers and the more it looks like it wont work the more fun that toon seems to be.
Side note: Thank you so much for the Great Guides Evil Geko. With out them it would of been a much harder fight designing them.
