Thanksgiving is fast approaching and while it is indeed a North American tradition at this time of the year, being thankful should be something we think about whatever the area of the world we live in and Paragon City, the Rogue Isles or even Praetoria are certainly no exception!

So join us in Pocket D, on the Exalted VIP server on Wednesday, November 30, at one of the following times for this month's VIP Costume Contest:

What can you be thankful for? Just about anything, really! This is open for interpretation so dazzle us with your creativity and inspiration! Just keep in mind that the easier it is for us to guess what you're thankful for, without having to read your description, the better!

Head over to this page for the City of Heroes Freedom™ Costume Contest Official Terms and Conditions.

See you all in 2 weeks! We are certainly very thankful for this opportunity!

It's specifically an American tradition, actually. Canada's Thanksgiving was in October.

This is kind of a hard theme. 'Something to be thankful for' covers just about anything in the game, from being able to play a superhero in the first place to maxed chest sliders and the eden pattern to animated cat tails.

And all too often all three.

Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."

(I hope they actually post the pics of the winners this time)

It's hard to go wrong by being thankful. Expressing sincere gratitude is usually very easy and well received.

Not sure how to translate 'thankful for the people that show proper respect to the game and the company'. But, I am sure it would be a small and meaningful costume.

I really do miss the days when those same people didn't even know how to plug a computer in. Oh, maybe I could make that into a costume...

I'm thankful for active forum moderation.. please?

I'll attend. It's an interesting theme, and open enough that anyone can exercise some creativity and come up with unique results.

After much difficult debate, our judges narrowed down the finalists to the following three amazing costumes!

From left to right:
Bacon Man, My Son Seth and Cosmic Horror!

Our third prize winner was My Son Seth, a tribute to a caring son and firefighter!

Our second prize winner was Cosmic Horror, who is thankful for Horror Movies!

And, without further delay, our first prize winner!

*drumroll*

Bacon Man, who is thankful for delicious bacon!

There were some truly amazing costumes in there, and it was difficult to narrow down the original 10 semifinalists, quite aside from the difficulty we had with the finalists! You all did a wonderful job expressing what you are grateful for, and we're grateful to all of you for your participation and your showing us what you can create!

Thank you all!

Bacon Man! That was totally me. So amazed I won, But hey! Who can turn down Bacon? Bacon is ALWAYS a win.

Contest was Fantastic, all the entrants were great, There were a great many people who deserved to be in those top ten as much as I, who obviously didn't quite make it. But hey! There's another contest this evening! I'll try and be there, to cheer on my fellows! It's what Bacon man would do! (And, well.. Erm, Will!)

Congrats to my fellow Semi finalists, extra Grats to my fellow Finalists, and Thanks to my Betters and my Peers! Those Devs willing to give up their time to make this game amazing, and those people willing to share the game with me, My fellow players!

I promised myself I wouldn't cry.

No one likes Soggy Bacon.

Oh, and I'd like to Thank the creator of the universe, whomever he may be to you, for making the Pig. Without whom none of this would be possible.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. Bacon.

Gratz Kai and all of the other contestants.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I have to say, I showed up to watch the evenings entertainment as well. (Evening in my world, I dare say it was a random time period across the globe. Hah.) Boy am I glad I was in the morning contest! The turn out for the evening one was INSANE, and the costumes fantastic. I really don't envy them thar judges at all.
Hopefully we'll get the pics from that contest too! I saw the ones who got picked, and I think it should make for some good screenshots!

You know, i didn't look to see if their already were pics somewhere other than this thread. Man. I'm not deleting all that previous stuff now. Bacon man Be tired today.

First of all I want to congratulate the winners of this "Something to be Thankful for" contest. Thier costumes were indeed very nice.

However. I do not understand the theme. Exactly what were the winners supposed to be thankful for? In the directions it states that it should be easily recognizable as something they are thankful for.

Other contestants chose, the military, God, Respite Nurses, family, friends, and the list goes on.

Would someone care to clarify exactly what the rules for this contest were? If it was a regular costume contest then fine. If it was a themed costume contest as I understood it to be. I am truley disapointed.

I also would like to congratulate the finalists and winners. The creativity is amazing. Yet I also am perplexed by the judges interpretation.

As stated: "What can you be thankful for? Just about anything, really! This is open for interpretation so dazzle us with your creativity and inspiration! Just keep in mind that the easier it is for us to guess what you're thankful for, without having to read your description, the better!"

The criteria set forth:

1) What can you be thankful for? Just about anything... ok.. I'm looking and going.. hmmm..

2) This is open for interpretation... ok again, I get it.. again looking and going.. hmmmm...

3) Just keep in mind that the easier it is for us to guess what you're thankful for, without having to read your description, the better!... ok, this I understand... Now in some cases I might be a bit disturbed and again go hmmmm...

As I said earlier, the costumes were amazing and congrats to the finalists and winners. But personally, I think if there is another "themed" contest... I will shout Huzzah to all.. but since I apparently don't get it, I'll not waste my time. Oh, and I do love bacon and understand that!
