Quote:Pretty much this.Active Defense is your mez protection. It is in fact your superior mez protection because you can have it up all the time. Without seeing your build and/or knowing more about how/why you play, it's hard to say if OWtS is a good pick or if the medicine pool is better than stealth for you. If you've soft-capped or are planning to, OWtS is only needed if you're really pushing the limits, like AV soloing. The big question though is what would you take instead? Maybe you can keep the Medicine pool and just take Hasten instead of OWtS.
OWtS is a good power the thing is most of my /SD build are so tight that I end up droping it for Hasten or something else that will get more use. -
Quote:I know what you mean, Love Fire BallWell, I'd LIKE to, but I haven't worked out how to make a post-BotZ soft-capped build chaining Incinerate -> Greater Fire Sword -> Cremate -> Fire Sword Circle -> Fire Ball with sustainable endurance, good set bonuses in general, and Aid Self.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I could drop Fire Ball in favor of Conserve Power, Physical Perfection and Energy Torrent, and pick up Aid Self instead of Health/Stamina. It would totally work, and be more survivable, and a LOT more survivable with no inspirations. I know, I know.
But Fire Ball! I mean, c'mon. You can't make me skip Fire Ball. That would make the baby Jesus cry.
So dropping Aid Self seemed like the only sensible move.I didn't even think about getting Aid self when you can have SC>FSC>FB. What I did was just use a marco to combine 3 insps to make greens. When I need them I just need to click the marco and it will combine all that it can, very nice to have.

Quote:The Brute will not be doing 250% more damage than a Scrapper, it will be doing more but not that much more.
*Edit* - The other "point" in Brute's favor is that they can enjoy a particularly more powerful damage cap of 850% vs Scrappers' 500%. I consider it a "point", rather than a point, because such numbers are only typically achieved in a team setting or very briefly if you just chugged a bunch of red inspirations. Furthermore, every Archetype as their respective damage cap, be they a Brute, Scrapper, or Gently Rolling Breeze finds it is capable of completely obliterating anything and everything, and you can only begin to imagine what kind of calamity occurs when you have an entire team like this.
Sure, the Brute will be doing 250% more damage than the scrapper, but when everyone is at the cap only the mathematically sound are going to be 'aware' of this, and attempting to point it out during the fact is akin to trying to find your car in a Tornado. While you're in it. And you're trying to dodge cows.
Scrapper damage at cap = 1.125 damage scale * (100% + ~10% chance of critical) * 500% damage cap = 6.19
Brute damage at cap = 0.75 damage scale * 850% damage cap = 6.38
The Brute damage cap is 350% higher but with that 350% it will only be doing a bit more. -
Quote:Yup and here is castle talking about it.The Numinas has already been fixed. The Miracle, among others, has yet to be fixed. They are making their effects unenhanceable. So, for example, slotting the Miracle unique in PP will be the same as slotting it in Health. It will make achieving sustinable endurance a good deal more difficult for some of the top-end builds.

Sure you can do a lot about it. If you don't like something in this game you can say you don't like it a post how a change might be good, and the Devs do listen to the player base. Look what they did with Posi TF and the last room in the Numina Task Force. They didn't change that stuff because they wanted to it was becuase the player base wanted it.

Well for me it is the Time. It is always at 5 pm est. That is the worst time for me I don't know about the other east coast people but I'm getting dinner ready most of the time, or about to go out to eat. If it were an how early it would be a lot better for me. IDK how many people are like me or how many people don't come because of the time, but it is one thing to think about.

Welcome to the Forums
I wouldn't really say one is the Best by far all of them bring something different to /SD. The best AV solo is Dark/SD, the best all around I would say is Fire/SD. With Fire/SD you have good AoE with FSC and Shield Charge, and have good ST damage. Dark/SD you have great ST damage and a Self Heal that helps out It also has the -tohit in dark that helps too. With BS/SD you have Perry which gives you great defense early, with AAO makes HS and DE even bigger hitters. -
Quote:Well Sailboat did mentioned Dark MeleeNobody mentioned Dark Melee as a good idea to match with /sr.
May i ask why? I have one so I'm just curious what you guys have against it.
thanks, Zoner
For Me it's not about tech not fitting or anything, he as a Dark/Dark Tank so why not try something new. -
Well for IO you will want to go for something that would build up your Smashing, Lathal, Fire, cold, Energy, and Negative defense because that is what Inv defense is. With defense the magic number is 45% so the closer you are to it the better you will be. I don't know how much some are but Kinetic Combat which gives you S/L can go for a lot.
BS is a nice pairing with /Inv I would like kat more because I like playing kat more than BS. Dark Melee is also good with /Inv too. Anything goes good with it so if you have something that fit your concept I would go with that.
For Tough and Weave I would take it. tough will help you a lot and give you some good S/L resistance. Weave will help you get to 45%. -
Quote:I was the same way I didn't like it at first but I still wanted one at 50. When I got that one at 50 I started to love it. Now the only Scrapper Primary that can go with Shields that I don't have at 50 is Broad Sword and I will be making him soon. When shields first came out, I was one of the only people that wasn't impressed. It seemed to me to be a weaker version of /sr. I finally got around to making one the other day. I really am impressed. This is fun as hell, and I haven't even gotten around the Shield Charge yet.

Well I would try something that a Tank doesn't have. Some things that would fit your theme would be
Katana/SR
Claws/SR
Both go great with /SR.
Katana will be more Tankish because of Divine Avalanche +Def to Melee and Lethal So it will get you at to soft cap at a early lvl.
Claws will do more damage with Follow Up and spin is a great AoE. Really it is hard to go wrong with a /SR toon anything will go well with it -
Well for a Scarpper it gives +3.75%, or around there. I think it is a very good thing to have it only takes one power and you get good defense from it. People pay 2 bill for the +3 PVP IO so taking one power for more defense is better to me. It is also a great place for the LoTG +7.5 too.

Quote:Can't you set the lvl on the sliding scale at the top of the Merit Vendor window anyway? You can still roll for lower level items at lvl 50.
If you do a random roll it will come up the lvl you are or the max lvl of the IO. So if you're 50 it will come out at 50 or max lvl, but if you're lvl 33 it will come out at lvl 33, which seems to sell good. -
Yes, you will be soft capped with one application of Parry with the slotted you said as long as your SO are good.
-
Charged Brawl it is the better DPS attack.

Quote:For overall Damage that would be Fire. AoE damage it would be Elec(I think) and ST damage would be Dark, at top end. Fire as great ST damage will little rech and FSC is all the AoE damage you really need.
The next question I have is Elec, Fire, or Dark. Which one is the best or overall survivability and overall damage
Now For Overall survivability it is how you look at it. Dark gives you Siphon Life which is a ok heal and a great attack, and as -tohit in most of its attacks. So Dark would be good for that but if you look at it what is dead can't kill you then Fire would be good too. -
First Welcome to the Game!!!
Quote:Dual Blades and Katana are different. Dual Blades as the Combos and Blinding Feint which is a great power. Katana as Divine Avalanche which gives you +Def. Now Both are great combos but Katana/Regen with Divine Avalanche will help you live.As far as double blades...well I'm not quite sure...going to give it more time...might switch to katana all tho im not sure there is much of a diffrence?
Edit to add. With Dual Blades you don't need to use the combos. The combos are fun but not needed. If you want to use them go head but if you don't use them you will be just fine. I started with them but when I got to higher levels I stop using them because I didn't like Nimble Slash. The better combos to use are Attack Vitals and Sweep. linky
Quote:suggest scrapper builds that are fun to play would he awsome!
a good Scrapper to start out with is a Kat/WP. It is very fun to play all the way up and gives nothing up at the end.
It is really hard to go wrong with A Scrapper all the powers are great some do go better with other power but any/any Scrapper will be fun to play.
Some of my Fav combos are
Dark Melee/Shield Defense
Fire/Shield Defense
Elec/Shield Defense
Fire/Fire
DB/Regen
Claws/Super Reflexes
Dark Melee/Super Reflexes
Katana/Fire
Katana/Elec
Broad Sword/willpower -
Quote:Well don't have time to look at your build but Scorch is a good attack. Not as good as FS but it does have ok DPS. I run Incinerate>Scorch>Cremate>Scorch for my Attack chain with my Fire/SD. Scroch as better DPE than Fire Sword and it is a lot easier to get the rech down for Scroch than Fire Sword.
Please tell me I am correct in my understanding that Scorch has lower DPS and does not belong in an optimized attack chain. -

Quote:Ok lets see you have 2 BoTZ in your build that gives you 6.25% def to ranged and AoE. Your number in your build right now are
@Broken, thats exactly what the build was made for, so yeah it will. :P
Its still in its beta stage so. >_>
Melee - 47.4%
Ranged - 45.4%
AOE - 46.655%
I did the math, it has softcap all around.
Melee 47.4%
Ranged 47.3%
AoE 47.9%
You will be losing 3.75% ranged and 2.5% AoE when I17 hits.(2 BoTZ now for ranged is 6.25% after I17 they will only be 2.5%. So 6.25-2.5=3.75, and with AoE you get 6.25 now and after it will be 3.75% with 6.25-3.75=2.5%) So your new number after I17 will be
Melee 47.4%
Ragned 43.55%
AoE 45.4%
So I was wrong about AoE but your ranged is still under. Again this is when solo with one in ranged of PF you will be over. -
Well when I17 hits you're not going to have soft capped defense to Range and AoE.

Quote:End doesn't look like it will be good but really didn't look at it too much.Blessing of the Zephyr:
• Decreased the 2 piece set bonus from this set from +3.125% Ranged Defense, +1.563% Energy and Negative Energy Defense to +1.25% Ranged Defense, +.625% Energy and Negative Energy Defense.
• Decreased the 3 piece set bonus from this set from +3.125% AoE Defense, +1.563% Fire and Cold Defense to +1.875% AoE Defense and +.938% Fire and Cold Defense.
• This set's bonuses were significantly decreased as the 2 and 3 piece set bonuses were far too powerful allowing players to easily stack 5 copies of these buffs for minimal slot usage. -
Quote:Well I never found Dual Blade end heavy after you get Stamina. Once you get Stamina is just like every thing else. Dual Blades combos are fun, and I did use them at first but if you're like me and just want to kill things fast
Dual Blade hates endurance, it's like an archenemy or something! I just happen to ignore the health/end bars until I hear that lovely sound *bwwooooo* of toggles shutting down.. oops! I'll figure out socketing enhancements soon enough to figure out what works best I hope! lol you really don't want to use them. The only combo you really need is Attack Vitals(Ablating Strike>Vengeful Slice>Sweeping Strike) Just use Blinding Feint>Attack vitals and you're good. But really just do want you find fun
As for /SR it is one of my favoite sets in the game. It is a little slow at first, more for scrapper, but when you get good defense numbers to all 3 defense(Melee, Range, AoE) then it starts to shine. It might not be the best for multiple AVs, but it can still get the job done.
And welcome to the Game!!! -
Quote:But LR doesn't crit
And note that Stalkers will lose on some areas compared to Brutes and Scraps because they don't have damage auras and usually some PBAoE damage power is removed except in ELM where they removed Lighting Clap, the 'skippable' power of the set but still a good attack.
