Quote:Start IOing sooner? There are alot of sets that suck at 20 and would play great at 50. But I am not going to play them because to me the whole point of a character is the journey and not the destination. Thats why playing with SO's is so important because your stuck with using them until you can be fully IOed out anyways. If I hate going from levels 1-49 but love 50 its not worth it to me thats all I am saying.
I use level 33 IOs, while I use them for exemping purposes, that lets you use them as you level up and not just at lvl 50. -
What worries me is this part of the article...
...
THR adds that "Nolan had been focusing on finding the romantic lead for Christian Bale in recent weeks, reading and meeting with several actresses, including Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts, according to insiders."
...
I would of thought Catwoman would be the romantic lead. -
Quote:Isn't Die Hard all about John McClane Police Officer VS Terrorists? No, it really is irony! He said 4 felt like a non-Die Hard movie with John McClane shoved in, and that 5 should be more like 3.
Which actually was a non-Die Hard movie with John McClane shoved in.
That can be any script really.

Quote:I team all the time. Finding teams isn't hard at all.I haven't played this game in years, i use to LOVE it, but as all good things eventually come to an end, I needed a break. I want to return to the game because (IMO) the grouping in this game is by far the best, and i'm tired of running solo games. (DC Universe suck, I personally play a MMO for the MM part) I'm sure you guys get posts like this every day, but Is it really worth coming back? I played before the whole, make your own instance thing, and a friend said that ruined this game. IDK if that's true, which is why i'm here i suppose. Does vitue still have a pulse or is it dead like 'some' other older MMO's
AE didn't ruin the game. It's given it a few hiccups, but never ruinned it. But this is more due to the players than AE itself. AE would likely be more popular if people didn't keep trying to just find the XP farms or make lousy stories (okay that last part is all based on personal opinions

I'm curious to what a Golden Age/Silver Age costume is.
-
Another Teen RP SG is, The Teen Phalanx.
More Silverage-Modern age, with a heavy leaning towards mordern age now. Check out the site to see if it's what you could be looking for. Active player base, with heavy base RP. -
Luna (Runa) Nagai (Japanese TV Teen Idol) bleaching her hair blonde, for Brand-X. I think she just fits the look perfectly.
-
Cold Domination (when they don't skip the shields).
Just find them useful in everything that a team could use. -
I'd personally never skip them, especially now with Inherent Fitness.
That said, I may or may not take them as soon as they became available. -

Quote:It's not the SR-71...it's just based on it's look.I'm with you. Maybe Magneto is keeping it in place. Also, I've seen the Blackbird in real life and the cockpit is teeny tiny. The whole plane is actually quite small. No way people are walking around in it. (They're slightly larger than the F-14 featured in Top Gun.)
I don't really care about X-Men canon since the books have screwed it up plenty. It's a little odd they pushed it back to 1962-ish, but maybe it's because the books have locked Magneto's origin in with the Holocaust so early 30s means early 1960s. I think Grant Morrison actually hates Marvel and the X-Men based on the stuff he wrote, so basic changes like that are no big deal to me.
What's so hard to believe about that, considering they have access to the danger room? -
I'd like to sign it, but I'm still waiting for tight versions of Bioluminence and Organic Armor...a little less worried about Organic Armor, though would be nice (and that just means getting rid of the...scales?...on the organic part).

Quote:Well, I can speak from Kinetic Melee from a Stalker PoV.Guess I'm not really surprised to see mostly Katana, Broadsword, Fiery Melee, and Dark Melee as the favored sets. Shame, was hoping I might see at least one other Kinetic Enthusiast!
On mine, I ran BB - BS - FB - BB - BS - CS
I love the animations of Kinetic Melee, and I love the animation to FB so this combo worked for me, and it was only 3 - 4 DPS behind replacing FB with QS. And seeing as how I had the 5 Apoc IOs in FB including the Proc as well as having 5 Hecatomb (again including the proc as one of the five), I'd likely say the DPS was equal.
I really didn't hate CS's animation either, though it fit with my concept, of being Spider-Man bendy, and doing such flips and body contortions during a fight, that it worked for me. -
Quote:But Silent Blade wasn't an EB.Maybe I'm just having some charmed experiences when I run my Stalkers. I have a 16 KM/DA I rolled just for Praetoria content. The last EB I fought we her was maybe a three shot fight, and that's with DOs. My 36 DM/Nin stalker killed Silent Blade in his morality mission so fast it glitched the mission.
Likely a Lt maybe a boss if you had your difficulty settings up'ed.
My problems with Stalkers continue to be their DPS. :/
That said, to answer the OPs question...
PBs.
This is assuming PvE and solo/team. -
Quote:Interresting, I think it was a Night Widow Build VEAT who put up some very impressive Pylon Soloing time...over 200 DPS. I fail to see how that's a VEAT doing less damage than a Scrapper.Don't forget how Fortunatas and Banes can get 100% ranged attack chains while having even higher RES and/or DEF than PBs, while still getting mez protection. Heck their damage buffs are even higher (PB BU is 72%, widows and banes get 80%). And they have team buffs. And pets. And dedicated mez powers. And passive recharge boosts.
VEATs still have their downsides. They don't do as much damage as Scrappers or Blasters. Their mez isn't as potent as a real mezzer. Their pets aren't around all the time without permahasten levels of recharge. And their RES/DEF or at least DDR values are less than Scrappers could get. But compared to HEATs, they're gods.
Synergy? Mercs don't have DEF outside of stealth. What synergy?

Quote:I don't see the reason for complaint. The fixed cost of real life is in hours. So if a team is earning something in an hour, it is unreasonable to demand that a soloer earn it in 100 times that. They should determine in hours how long it takes the average player to earn something and adjust earning that same thing while teamed accordingly. If that ends up making each enemy worth 5 Inf while on a team, so be it.
How do you think that would fly? Based on her current attitude of "Nyah nyah, sucks to be you," I would expect Atomic Woman would have a screaming fit and everyone like her would follow suit. That's kind of what's going on here, but I'm trying quite rigorously not to let it go past "annoyed."
Anyway, I've got to get to take the dogs out and then get to bed, so I'm out.
It's simple. They gave the soloers away to continue to get everything solo. They said it was going to cost more to do it solo.
If you're wanting to be solo all the time, then what's the rush anyways? Just to have it? To do...things...solo? -
I will watch it! And I will likely enjoy it just as I did with the other 4!

Quote:Why get rid of the mobs?I like how that area of IP is starting to become a Longbow/military hub for threats outside the city - it might be nice if they'd clear the mobs that spawn arpound the building by the docks and in the hospital car park, and maybe added some Longbow troops lined up ready to embark or disembark, and maybe some Longbow mechs being fixed on their platforms, like the ones in RV, as well as more crates and supplies stacked by the docks witht he Freedom Corps logo on them.
It'd just be for zone flavor, but I think it'd add some color to IP.
If it's level 50 content (no idea if it is or not), then the mobs don't matter.
-
Hmmm...
The trailer looks good. But so did the others.
Could be better than X-Man 3 though, which could of used some major improvements, but I somehow enjoy none the less (can't help it, I just love seeing Bobby ice up). -
Quote:I didn't mean all enemies. As someone who has almost exclusively mutant toons because origins have meant so little and it was the origin where I knew where the shops were, etc. I might get a little annoyed if every two minutes my characters were always getting ambushed through out the city.
I WOUDLN'T mind some missions where, say, NPCs that were rescued by me mentioned something like "don't think this changes my opinion of mutants, you freak" or if a contact gave me an enemy group that tended to focus on me, even over a taunting tank, during -that mission- or something. But this would need to be in very specific situations (specific missions against specific enemy groups, or specific areas of certain zones, etc.) or it could easily be overwhelming.
I COULD see this fitting more in line with certain zones offering unique things to certain origins (Croatoa or Dark Astoria having a scattered NPC mob that attacks magic origin toons, PI having a certain mob that focuses on Tech toons, IP having a mob that focuses on natural toons, Founders Falls with Science, etc. since those zones sort of have the "theme" of that origin going on, but again, it should be a rare occurence if they did this. Maybe even something more in line with a zone event.
hmm...there's an idea.
WHAT IF THE WAY THAT THEY BROUGHT ORIGINS MORE IN TO PLAY WAS WITH ORIGIN-SPECIFIC ZONES EVENTS?
For example (and these are just off the cusp, not actual suggested events)
Anti-mutant riot in Skyway
* An anti-mutant riot in Skyway where mutant/natural orign heroes work together to try to protect NPCS while rioting waves of enemies tried to attack them under the belief they were mutants.
Magical battle in Dark Astoria
*A "mystical battle" in Dark Astoria where magical heroes stop the spread of the darkness curse to all of Paragon and temporarily end the curse in DA for 1 day,
Techno-virus attack in PI
* A technological threat in PI where science and tech heroes work together to save the city from destruction by a living technology infesting the city.
Or come up with one event for each of the five origin instead of pairing them. You could even add one for epics, say an all out Void Stalker assault breaks out and only Khelds can act to stop it, etc.
You could have these events give special drops or rewards, maybe special costume pieces, maybe special merits to BUY costume pieces from a special tailor (that way ANY origin could get any of the pieces by getting merits from their zone events and spending them at that tailor) or maybe something as simple as special origin based inspirations (the same buffs from the insps regardless of their orign, but only usable by a given origin?) Unique, more powerful inspirations could actually be a simple, great motivator to participate, as could merits/access to special costume pieces, etc. Make these like Rikti and zombie Raids: all levels welcomed, and this could be a great!
Could be an interesting way to motivate people to "think about" their origin as if it had an effect every once in a while, yet in no way penalize ANYONE for ever having chosen an origin before or force anyone who doesn't care about orgins to participate.
If you linked it to origin-specific contacts, the events could be triggered when a team completes the final arc of an origin-specific contact.
Would that sort of origin-based content bother anyone?
I meant, let's make certain enemy groups (or have existing ones) that target spicific origins a little more readily.
I'm not saying all enemies hate mutants more. I'm saying have a group out there that targets mutants because they hate mutants, and have similar groups that hate the others. -
Well remember, in i20, shards will be dropped for enemies under level 50.
Also, for that 100million, I'm not saying it can be made in a day, I however can make a few million if I remember to sell the things I find.
Also, if you're going completely solo, as you're hunting for shards, you're making money.
So the test is, I would think, how much influence are you getting by the time you get the needed shards? -
Quote:So...the Magical Empathy Defender, has no powers that does damage? Not even one power from the secondary, that you're required to take? And it's the magical influence that makes magical fire burn just a little hotter than normal fire. Here's one of several problems with this you keep dodging: What if the idea of the particular random bonus I'd get from an Origin goes AGAINST the character concept I have in mind? As I said before what if I really want to use the Magic Origin but the bonus it provides is one that makes absolutely no sense for MY character to have? That has nothing to do with min/maxing and more to do with something along the lines of giving a Magical Empathy Defender a +4% DAM bonus because everyone knows magical healing powers lend themselves to being able to do more damage.

There is simply no way to escape the "inconvenient truth" that linking arbitrary bonuses to Origins would set up a dynamic where some people will agree that the Origin bonus in question makes sense and others won't. Instead of trying to divine what everyone agrees are the most appropriate bonuses for the Origins the Devs made the smart decision to avoid that "nerdrage" altogether by NOT assigning in-game consequences to ANY Origin.
I continue to be amazed that you keep arguing for changes that would inject far more angst, prejudice and discontent into the game than any perceived benefit it could provide. As I said before "less" really is "more" in this case. Complicating Origins with Origin-based bonuses is the wrong way to go with this. You keep asking why Origins aren't more significant in this game - the rest of us keep asking why they should be. It's on you to show why the current system which has existed for almost seven years needs to be changed and I'm simply not sure you've done that yet. *shrugs*
But, okay
A reason to make Origin's more significant in game, because even the text for the origins says there's more to them than just how you got your powers.
Mutants are feared...hated...let's get enemies out there that aggro on mutants like they had 3 aggro auras!
Have mutants actually live up to what their description says about them.
How's that? -
Quote:Yes, we've had them, but we haven't had them with Dual Pistols! From a purely powers point of view we've had weapon wielding psychics (Forts and Widows) already. One thing we haven't had much of is a support EAT with a wider variety of team buffs and enemy debuffs.
Not saying it needs to be a Corrupter / Defender rip-off but factoring in some new powers which are support based would be interesting. Say something which blended certain aspects of Team and self Regen buffs along with enemy damage debuffs in the primary along with Assault and maybe a pet or two in the secondary in some way.
I do tend to build my chars based on powers first and then thinking of a concept which works well with the powers they'd have though. I know a lot of other people work the other way around.

Quote:What if my Natural Origin isn't human, but an alien from a doomed planet, who developes flight, super strength and invulnerability under the Earth's yellow sun, due to the effects of the yellow son on the aliens race? :OEven the Natural origin in-game is really more of a 'Beyond Natural' since, as has been brought up earlier, no truly 'natural' person is going to be punching Rularuu out. The Natural origin is as super-powered as any of the other four, it's just the one that embodies your personal power/willpower/determination/whatever, whether you're like Apex and you just trained so hard you can do things no other mortal can, or whether you're an alien and shooting cosmic rays comes 'naturally' to your race.
Natural = Power over/through myself
Science = Power gained by altering myself
Technology = Power harnessed via external object(s)
Mutation = Power inherent in myself from birth (kind of straddles Natural/Science)
Magic = Power harnessed via control over mystical spells/items/entities/etc
The Well is none of these (or perhaps all of them, from a certain point of view). It gives you Power, and you use that power in a way that is dictated by your Origin.
Natural isn't just about being human
