Worth coming back?

I haven't played this game in years, i use to LOVE it, but as all good things eventually come to an end, I needed a break. I want to return to the game because (IMO) the grouping in this game is by far the best, and i'm tired of running solo games. (DC Universe suck, I personally play a MMO for the MM part) I'm sure you guys get posts like this every day, but Is it really worth coming back? I played before the whole, make your own instance thing, and a friend said that ruined this game. IDK if that's true, which is why i'm here i suppose. Does vitue still have a pulse or is it dead like 'some' other older MMO's

oh this game is definitly still alive and kicking

i say its definitly worth coming back, from what i know virtue is about even with freedom in terms of activity, but all the servers have been more active lately

since the start of the weekly strike targets, tfs have been going on near constantly

AE didnt ruin anything (although a lot would say that the players ruined AE)

i definitly think the game is worth coming back to, theres a lot thats gone on since AE came out in the first place

Some of the servers can be very quiet at times (not really hero side but the other two)but your old stomping grounds "Virtue" isn't amoung them. It's quite populated. Main thing is to check into ad find out what the global channels for your sever or servers are and try to get on one or more of them. Global chat is still the coolest mmo feature since sliced bread. Oh wait!... ;p Not actually a mmo feature but you get the idea. My main sever is the much quieter (but still not dead yet thank you very much) Victory. I have characters on Freedum (said with affection), Virtue, Pinnacle, Protector and a coupe on Justice, Triumph and something else... really can't recal. So I know the "feel" for each. Virtue and Freedom you wont be lonely even withought knowing the globals.

Anway, welcome back. AE didnt kill the game, just like ED didn't Kill the game. It has it's faults but it still the most option filled game with things to do... so many now my current main that I brought out of Preatoria can't even get them all done. It's crazy the shere amount of content. Staggering almost.

I took 6 months off for finacial reasons a while back but came back last spring. Haven't given up again yet. Real block for me was finaly figuring out how to market a tidge (not quite a billionare yet but encroaching on it. lol) so I could actualy slot and set bonus up some toons. That's fun stuff.

Still the only one unless DC one also breaks from mmo norm of eventualy covering up your avatar with the armor/costume of the latest update to keep up with the crowd. Unless you picked Stone armor or elec, or a PB and want to run their defensive finals. Honestly needs to be a choice there... but I dont have a stone armor and my elec is designed to be a partial energy/flesh being, the PB is shelved until it's mezzes match or something anything really... just a bone tossed it's way to make 30+ bosses not horrible, anyway so nevermind. (shrugs) Honestly there really aught to be options for those two armor final's at least. They break CoH's unspoken costume promise.

Enough from me... Welcome back .... sucker. Just kiddin!

PS: Haven't made an AE mission myself. I tried but it wouldn't let me make a version of "Rescue 21 Magicians" that had 21 npc's that would attach as fightin' pets (grin) as you rescued them. The AE engine whatever thingy wouldn't accomodate it, so I'll just play other folks creations.... hmmm Rescue 21 fight with you magicians... sigh. It would have been GLORIOUS!

Your friend is an idiot. Come and play.

It's definitely worth coming back, this game is maybe the best it's ever been. I disagree with your friend; the mission architect is extremely cool and has in no way ruined the game. That was a popular opinion for a while, but I honestly never saw any reason to believe it. I've tried DCUO and Champions Online and like both games, but CoH is still the best of them by a long shot IMO.

If there is any time to come back, it's now. If you've been gone for years, the changes and add-ons will amaze you.

I team all the time. Finding teams isn't hard at all.

AE didn't ruin the game. It's given it a few hiccups, but never ruinned it. But this is more due to the players than AE itself. AE would likely be more popular if people didn't keep trying to just find the XP farms or make lousy stories (okay that last part is all based on personal opinions )

Worth coming back to depends on what you wanted. Your friend sounds like he didn't care about content, stories, or having fun with folks. AE only "ruined the game" for people who wanted a quick powerlevel.

Yeah, there's a lot of bad writing and a lot of XP farms in AE, but I've found a lot of gems in there, and one of my SGs uses the AE for weekly RP plots solely for our group. How cool is that, as opposed to running the same TF over and over?

Depending on how long you've been gone, you might not even recognize the game if you come back. There's been many great quality of life improvements and this MMO still contains some very unique gameplay.

As a person who tried different MMOs i can tell you this game has a different feel to it. Im sure there are people who like the different games but there is nothing like coming home to COH

as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.

Well, the community still seems awesome, and Dedicated. I get paid this Thursday (i'm a broke bum) i'm pretty new to Role Playing (did a bit back in Ultima Online) and RPing a hero seems like it would be awsome, expecially with the custom missions. I'll prolly be messing with the trial until then, thanks again tho guys, the community still makes this game the best!

Virtue loves new RPers. We'll teach you, and we'll have fun doing it.
