Okay, for surviving AVs with nothing more than the Alpha Slot in mind, whether it be solo or on a team with no team buffs, how much defense is needed to keep standing against one with the resists and self heal factored in?
-
While still one of the squishier sets, /FA can be built to be tougher, like all the other Defense sets.
The question becomes, you willing to trade a bit of toughness for the added damage abilities, or even IO it out?
Now, I just don't care for EM anymore, due to ET's long animation. If they shorted it to Crane Kick/Cobra Strike/Crippling Axe Kick speed, I may feel differently about it. But right now...*sigh*...it was fine with one slow sattack, but now two...:/
Mind you, my experience was on a Tanker, so maybe BRutes Fury can make a difference. -
Quote:I got the feeling he wanted a kinda offensive set...a mixture of WP/SR/INV style set in no real graphics for the certain powers, while mixing it up with Traps/Devices, to give things like Seeking Missile Pets. Not buying it.
The idea of 'Armor' armor is pretty ludicrous considering it describes nothing. And that's pretty much what 'Body Armor' is in the context of armor powersets...Armor armor. That theme is covered. If your 'body armor' protects your body by deflecting weaker attacks away and reduces damage, you're looking at 'Invulnerable Body Armor'. If your armor is wired into your synapses and enhance your ability to move out of danger, you're looking at a 'Synaptic Reflex Enhancement Armor'. If your armor continuously repairs itself after recieving damage and/or is highly charged to constantly keep melding itself back, you're looking at 'Regenerative Armor' (that can be played as Electric Armor, Regen or Willpower). So on and so forth.
What we need is actual *theme* here. Something we *cannot* do, something whose theme isn't easily duplicated or represented by costume or power function. An ablative armor mechanic that absorbs part of an attack before 'breaking', 'Bone Armor', Goo Defense, a damage absorbing mechanic that lets you use said damage in other ways (like attacking or defending against said damage types). These are things that we need and should get. 'Armor armor' is not nor do I expect it to be.
But hey, I'm usually wrong when it comes to predicting these things. -
I've made DB/WP Scrapper pretty survivable.
That said, my suggestion, Energy or Fire Armor Brute! They're just fun concepts.
And the self heals don't interrupt the combos (unless you have serious lag issues) as they activate fast enough, however, they do cause redraw. -
Quote:Okay, I have to ask...middle of the week at any time, Ive been able to get teams. As a primarily solo player, after 51 months, I am finally getting to the point where I am fed up with having powers that I cannot use on myself.
Speed Boost, Ice/Thermal/FF shields, Single Heals... it is becoming slightly ridiculous.
Let's face it, City of Heroes subs aren't booming out of control, and there are points where teaming is hard to pull off, due to lack of people or become or off-times on the servers.
So, when myself, who plays mainly during the middle of weekdays (offtime) and primarily solos, takes a secondary but finds I have to skip 2 or 3 powers because they are useless to me, it gets frustrating.
Now, with the fact that these powers are becoming AoE (excluding ST heals), will they affect us if we are within the 30' radius of the powers?
If this is the case, that means we are forced to team to be able to hit ourselves with the buffs we want.
If this isn't the case, we still get the benefit of being more involved through other powers and less end use, but are still excluded no matter how you look at it.
I just think it is about time that we should be able to use these powers on ourselves, and I don't think that is too much to ask, or is being unreasonable.
Has anyone heard of ANY change to this?
Anyone know a definite answer to if the upcoming AoE aspect of the buffs affect us?
I love this game, but find it silly needing to make one build for solo, and one for team, because I am a "Bad player" since I didn't take my ice shields even though my play-time means I am solo 95% of the time.
Sorry, just needed to vent this frustration...
My apologies...
So, is it you can't find teams, or you just don't want to team, as you prefere to solo.
And what's silly about a solo build and a team build? You get 3 builds. Team build, set it for SOs, solo build, IO it out! -
Seeing the cover of X-Men: First Class, it reminds me of something I wondered when I saw the movie.
Why does Beast have messed up feet? In the comics his feet were bigger than normal for sure, but they looked human, only larger.
In the movie they felt the need to make them look beastial. -
I have to nitpick on one part.
Whips.
Whips would be a Melee set. A whip is melee, it isn't ranged.
If Dual Pistols was out for Scrappers (so here's hoping for a Dual Pistol (or Weapon Set to include Archery and Assault Rifle)/Armor AT *crosses fingers*) I don't see why a melee weapon like the whip is, would be ranged. -
Quote:Well, nothing says that those McCoy and Shaw are the same. Yes we know they're suppossed to be, before, but nothing official about it made it so.Things have been changed. Like a pre-blue Dr. McCoy talking to a Dr. Shaw on the tv in X2.
As for Alex Summer being so much older (and in fact just plain older) than Scott isn't that big of a worry, as to the reason they did it...they needed new mutants to use. -
Quote:But how much recharge you need can vary depending on the Primary.Maneuvers is the highest costing endurance per defense toggle you can get. Picking it up will depend on your build, your goals for the build, and how much more endurance you can afford to spend on toggles.
As Willpower, another toggle shouldn't be a strain on your endurance. Toggles are more valuable than set bonuses if you can afford the endurance cost, so it is probably a good idea to pick it up.
Keep the defense "sweet spots" in mind though. Anything between them is a waste of toggles or set bonuses. Aim for 32.5% S/L and E/N, or 45% defenses. At 32.5% defense, one small inspiration can soft-cap you for normal content and two inspirations can get you enough defense for incarnate content. Personally, I prefer 32.5% over 45% so you can fit more recharge in the build and run a better attack chain. Inspirations are easy to get.
DB/WP doesn't need much in the way of +RCH, to obtain BF - Attack Vitals Combo.
As for Manuevers being needed, not really, but it doesn't hurt either. Depends on what you're trying to obtain. I for isntance needed it to obtain 45% defense mark and like having it at that mark. -
Quote:They never said she was Emma Frost. She could be a mutant with identical/similar powers. Mutants having the same powers have happened before in the comics.Something I just realized...
First Class has Emma Frost, a full grown woman, in 1962.
Origins: Wolverine has her as a younger version, in her teens. That would place O:W before First Class, logically. Yet it also had teen Cyclops in it, who is still a young man in the modern day X films.
Also, it blames the Three Mile Island disaster on the O:W events, which happened in 1979.
My brain hurts now.
As for Charles Xavier, the only flashback we see of Jean, is with Charles and Erik visiting Jean, inwhich Charles was walking (however, he's regained and lost his ability to walk multiple times in the comics). This was somewhere in the 80's.
He was also bald in O:W, this was around 1978, when he was also walking and bald.
Best guess, but 1978, Charles is bald, he regains the use of his legs, and then loses the ability to walk from some point in the 80's till right before the first X-Men movie.
That said, yes, continuity errors, likely because Fox didn't think ahead. -

Quote:That was my point basically.Well that's probably because steampunk just raids Victorian fashion for some aesthetic details and isolated elements rather than accurately emulating it.
Anyone who wants accurate versions of Victorian fashion should ask for a Victorian pack because you're not going to find it in actual steampunk fashions. (Of course it's possible that people will show up at steampunk themed events in accurate Victorian, Edwardian, or even Medieval clothing. It's still not typical of the subculture.)

Quote:If you don't want pool power, select a pool, and never use the power. You're getting exactly what you want, use of just your primary and your secondary.I know it seems an odd request and I usually do want some sort of Pool Power, it's just until I really didn't that I noticed that I didn't have a choice. I do see the benefit of being able to select a pool power, just not the benefit of "having" to take one.
This works for me when selecting Boxing/Kick and never using it.
What might be unfair, was if you couldn't select all your primary and secondary. But you can! So it's all good. -
Quote:None of these look like Steampunk outfits to me.

Quote:Odd. I couldn't in real life kill a kitty, puppy or a bunny (and really don't handle it well when my pets die), yet I made and RPed a character who did such things (she was short, and liked to beat on/kill anything smaller). In a manner of speaking, yes.
Our avatars reflect a piece of our personality and our souls (However small that piece may be.) Would you play a character that is in conflict with your ideals? The answer is no, some small part of you approves of what you avatar "does" otherwise you wouldn't play it. This is why I can never bring myself to be an openly evil character in an open-ended RPG, the idea of hurting people, killing them makes me ill. So no, I do not accept your argument Tramontane. Some part of you feels justified in your characters actions. The same goes for any "Racist Character."
Now, this isn't to say I don't put in a few of my own thoughts into my main character for instance. My main preferes Pepsi over Coke. Why? Because I do.
Someone making a racist character, doesn't mean they're racist. That said, I think back to the 90's animated X-Men.
Alternate dimension Storm travels back to the past, and runs into racism based on skin, and her thought was more "How quaint" than anything else, as in a world of mutants/aliens, people stop being racist and start being speciests.
Even with the 5th Column I get a sense of "Die mutants/superpowered types" and less "Die person of so and so race" -
You'd be one of the few maybe, not one of the only. My Peacebringer is black, from South Africa (though I guess being a PB, one could technically say she isn't black per se, as there's the whole melding of two and becoming one), and doesn't use afro or cornrows (which really why would you use them, they look terrible most of the time).

I got to wondering, maybe this whole relaunch is DC's way of thinking "We reboot everything, then set the universe up to mesh with a movie universe!"

Quote:You're looking at it all wrong. It's also inconsistent with other exploration badges without good cause. So, why leave it that way?
The other badges are inconsistent with this one badge.
Also, with Oro portals, trams that lead to every zone, it's just not that hard to get to RWZ.
I have the RWZ base teleporter and hardly use it. Oro (or tram) Founders Fall, RWZ entrance is right there where you're dropped off. -
And like a Proc, it allows you to go over the damage cap, if I remember correctly.
-
Thinking on it, and while it looks like they're making some changes I really don't care for (Harley Quinn comes to mind first) if they put forth the effort this would be a good time for them to develope a time line, then do what they did for Marvel Ultimate Spider-Man...100 issues equals 1 year.

Quote:She just doesn't look the type to say "Ooooh Mr Jaaaaaaay"Look no further than than the cover of Suicide Squad #1.
However, if the cover's any indications, it looks like Harley has been replaced by a deranged cos-playing stripper with a plastic surgeon boyfriend.
And this saddens me. -
You can never go wrong with just making the SM/FA a catgirl.
