Quote:I've highlighted an important word for you: a. It means 1. In other words, it's an option when i20 comes out, and a way to progress before i20. As has been mentioned many times before, the WST also involves (and has involved for the same amount of time as the notice) double XP and double merits. Strictly not an incarnate system reason. The idea seems to be to showcase a different TF each week, the incarnate system stuff being just a perk for 50s.The WST was proposed/advertised as a way to get Notice’s of the Well. That is strictly an incarnate system reason.
Quote:Nobody who has commented knows why a lower level TF was picked as a “Target”.
I only address Avatea with the subject, is because she/he is the one that posted it. It matters NOT who does, only that it is inefficient and therefore poorly thought out for the above reasons.
Quote:Double experience, influence and merits seems to be incentive for people who have NOT done the incarnate system to help the level 50’s who have…not the other way around as many of you seem to think.
Quote:Do you realize that if you have not unlocked the incarnate doing the WST actually prevents you from getting a “Notice” until the next week’s target? So a level 49 doing the WST and making 50 has to wait another week..To get a “Notice”. So the double experience is actually a “Problem”, at least for him.
Quote:I would not mind doing a lower level TF – if it was boosted to 50 for the week it was the target.
Quote:Again not the point...the choice of the TF is messy. It doesn't seem to fit the scheem of incarnate system or its purpose.
Quote:Maybe it's just not understanding the developer purpose...
Quote:Incarnate is an excellent reason to dust off the old 50's, using a lower level TF doesn't. -
They weren`t given to us with the purchase of GR. When the expansion was released there was a window of time in which you could transfer your toons for free. If you missed it, you m issed it.

Quote:The notices are what 50s get in place of double XP. That's it. You don't have to run any TF to get a notice. You have the option to wait until i20 comes out with content specifically designed to advance your characters as incarnates. For those who don't want to wait there are the WTFs. Basically, there is no problem. The problem here is with the word "mix". Having the weekly task force be lower level is a great idea. Having to run a low level TF with a 50 in order to advance at 50 is a horrendous idea. The problem isn't with a low level WTF, it's with the stupid notices being tied to the WTF.
Quote:I sort of see the OPs point. First the only people that will get a Notice of the Well are the 50 levels. So anyone below that doing it gains nothing at all from Posi 1 being picked as the WTS.
Quote:Now can you honestly tell me based on the huge groups of people we've been seeing camped out in IP around Statesman this week that teams comprised of nothing but 50 levels won't use every trick available to speed though a Sister Psyche since the ONLY thing they want from it, and since they CAN'T earn shards the only thing they CAN get from it, is a Notice of the Well? There are speed runs going on these TFs now because players don't care about the TF or trying to help any lower level players on the team gain levels.. All they want is the reward merits at the end. How long will it take doing this before someone at NC Soft decides to lower the merit rewards on some TFs again because everyone is racing through them?
Quote:I don't mind doing the lower levels TFs I have a bunch of characters that have Task Force Commander and aside from a couple of them I enjoy doing those as well. But picking a TF designed for player between 20-25 and making THAT the task force required to gain a NotW needed to build a very rare enhancer for my 50 level's Alpha slots just seems sort of lame. Oh trust me if it continues I'll have my 50s out there taking down Freaksshow for Sister P, Council for Citadel or whatever but i'd rather be doing something designed around my level. -
Quote:Ever think that the incarnate system may have just been tacked on to the WTF? It's already been said that we can get notices this way BEFORE i20 is release with other ways.
The above is posted...Doing the Sister Psyche in the 20's...Give me a break. Your Alpha slot won't work...not that it needs to just "facepalm".
We should be doing CONTENT that will generate SHARDS meaning lvl 50 opponents.
Extremely disappointed.
Have you considered that offering double bonus XP doesn't make a lot of sense if the WTF is restricted to level 50 content? Even though the Alpha slot has been released the devs still have to think about levels 1-49. -
It happened to me for the first time in months right after reading this thread.

Was your account active yesterday? The only thing that matters is that your account is active from Feb. 1st all the way up to April 18th. If you cancelled your subscription with playtime left, then set up your monthly subscription before your last playable day you're fine. However, if your account becomes inactive for even one day during the specified period, you're out of luck.

There are 4 links in your signature, and none of them look anything like N P C. Maybe you should specify which link it is for the OP.

Quote:As has already been said, Responsibility and Warden are the most heroic paths, but you'll end up doing some pretty despicable things in all four paths. Avoid Crusader arcs like the plague. Those guys join the resistance to cause mayhem and get revenge. Power starts off as pretty heroic, but quickly degrades into setting things up to make you come off as the greatest thing in the world.I'm about to create my first Praetorian character, it will be a Mastermind and I want to make it through as a Hero.
Are there any particular story arcs I should take on the road to Heroism? I just want to make sure that I don't take the wrong path and wind up as a villain.
Thanks in advance,
Marsha -
That extra attack power will still be effective with just the one slot in it. Either make some sacrifices to put a few more slots into the extra attack, or use it as is.
-
Won't slot, you mean. You will still be able to slot any power you select, so the choice you have is to not slot the 3 powers you pick up in place of Fitness, or adjust your build to find slots to devote to those powers. You could also choose powers the really don't require slotting.
-
Quote:Unless he was told by Marchand that you're deep undercover, in which case he would neither offer you tasks to do that could jeopardize your mission, nor off you, preventing you from doing that mission at all.*sighs*
So in the end, this is an unfortunate choice, to my mind. If you're successfully undercover, Mr. G shouldn't... know (I was going to say magically or psychically, but that just doesn't work in that Praetorian instance) that I changed sides, or else I should be offed immediately.
Successfully undercover doesn't mean no one knows what you are doing. It means the wrong people don't know it. -
Quote:What way are you talking about? Currently you can do 3 out of 4 paths without fully switching factions. The four path is barred from us not for technical reasons, but because of a design choice. We won't see the ability to do story arcs the way you obviously want unless the whole game changes to be a lot more realistic, more like Fable or KOTOR with the light/gray/dark meters.
Quote:I still haven't figured out how to work undercover for either side because it is such a restrictive system to even allow it.
To go deep undercover do a solo moral choice mission, and choose the loyalist option. Now you can do the Power arcs, and you'll still have the option to call Scott.
Quote:City of Heroes is just not built for espionage and a dynamic faction system. -
Quote:Temp powers are in a separate category of drops. They have no effect on your receiving an IO recipe. You could potentially receive a temp power recipe and a purple.Random is random? Cool. Why do my drops often look like:
plasmatic taser
jetpack
plasmatic taser
Gabriel's Hammer
revolver
plasmatic taser
the baseball bat
plasmatic taser
jetpack
revolver
baseball bat
plasmatic taser mark 3 or whatever...
Quote:Or how is it that when I do get a purple, its one of the same three Fortunata Hypnosis's, or one of the same three Unbreakable Constraints? That does not seem very "random" to me, sorry. It seems awfully strange, as a matter of fact. Little too much pattern there for true random. -
Quote:Toons that have the Fitness pool won't have it as an inherent. Once i19 comes out those that don't already have the pool will instantly get it as an inherent.1. When the fitness set becomes innate, how will this be handled? A mandatory respec for all characters with it?
If you use a respec on a toon that has the Fitness power pool (and not the inherents) Fitness will become inherent, and you will loose it as an option when chosing power pools. -
-
I'd say being able to run the same content using any of the 10 basic ATs instead of only 5 is an inherent advantage to being Praetorian.
-
But the only thing supporting that character is teaming and exemping to the team's level. The game provides no incentive to remain in Praetoria. Until the content in Praetoria is expanded there is no reason to add a costume mission to the tailor there. A halloween salvage contact, however, should be added.
-
It's not so much of 'could leave' as it is of being kicked out. Once you hit 20 you get a popup from I believe Marchand for loyalists, and Sheridan for Resistance. Hit 21 and you can no longer access content from contacts you haven't already started. Unless you want to exemp down for the next 30 levels your only option is to go Primal.

Quote:Whoever gave the OP that information got it from Closed Beta. Vanguard merits were originally included in the cost to buy an alignment merit, but that was removed shortly after the loyalty program testers were invited.Whoever gave you that information somehow confused A-Merits and the Incarnate Alpha Slot that is coming out in i19. Totally unrelated items. A-Merits you can only get two ways:
1. Reinforce Hero/Villain morality (takes 10 tip missions and 1 morality mission).
2. Trade 50 merits and 20 million inf
#1 takes more than 20 hours because you can only run 5 tip missions every 20 hours
#2 can only be done every 20 hours
It is the alpha slot they are *thinking about* allowing to be purchased with vanguard merits etc. This is not live yet, and not finalized so may or may not happen. -
Yes, especially if you are working towards a set of purples. You'll save a lot of time if you buy a merit everyday in addition to earning one every other day. Running TFs after your daily quota of tip missions should cover the cost.
-
Quote:You can do as many tips in one day as you want. However, only the first 5 tips count towards changing your alignment. They can be 5 rogue tips, 5 villain tips, or any combination of the two, but you only get credit for the first 5 tips.At level 20+ defeat enemies until a "tip" drops. In the contact menu, under the tips tab, select the mission and run it. You can do 5 tips in one day.
once you've done 10 Rogue tip missions, you get a morality mission, that turns your alignment from Villian to Rogue. And you can access Paragon City. -
This thread makes my brain hurt.
