I19 Changes
So, after the interview questions regarding I19, I haven't noticed any new buzz. I was curious about a few things and wanted to know if someone has information I haven't found. Specifically...
1. When the fitness set becomes innate, how will this be handled? A mandatory respec for all characters with it? 2. Is there going to be a set to replace fitness, something else that boosts other stats like it does? 3. When Praetoria opens up to travelling back and forth, will lvl 1 Praetorians immediately get to leave if they wanted or will travel only be available at 20+? Any news is appreciated. |
Fitness pool still will be available.. just health and stamina will be inherent as well. I imagine we will get a respec token tho for any that want to use inherent vs fitness pool
Praetorians created in there will still have to wait til level 20

Ok, I was wondering that--so we can have the equivelent of stamina doubled? Interesting option for toons that I want to randomly abuse their endurance...hmm...

If you use a respec on a toon that has the Fitness power pool (and not the inherents) Fitness will become inherent, and you will loose it as an option when chosing power pools.

There won't be any more Fitness pool to pick from, so there's no getting things twice.
What I'm curious about is whether a character in Praetoria who has not yet achieved 20 when I19 hits will be given a choice to go to Primal Earth or stay in Praetoria.

Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

My guess is that you won't be able to move between "lands" until level 20. But that is purely a guess. It seems that the Devs are putting a lot of focus on level 20.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

There currently isn't any content after level 20 over there so it would be kinda boring. From what I understand, if there is any new content in praetoria coming in issue 19, it'll be for 50+ characters for the incarnate stuff.
I wouldn't expect to be able to stay praetorian any time soon unless they flesh out content from level 20-50 over there.
My guess is no, you'll still have to choose hero or villain, but you'll still be able to go back there.

Will there be more zones added to Praetoria as time goes on, or is this the scope of what you wanted for it and that's it? War Witch: If I have any say in the matter, which I do, yes. We will add to Praetoria. It's too amazing and rich a universe to introduce it and forget about it. We've just scratched the surface on what's going on there, so I'd like players to see what else is going on. |
No. It is not landing with Issue 19.
No. It is probably not landing with Issue 20 either.
There has been no evidence to date to suggest that the developers have any intention of expanding the roles of the Resistance and Loyalists. All evidence so far pretty much indicates that the developers will enforce players having to choose between Hero or Villain. All evidence so far indicates that there are no plans to allow Resistance or Loyalists to choose Vigilante or Rogue classes directly.
What will likely happen is that any new content added to Praetoria outside the scope of Going Rogue will likely follow the tourist model currently set for the Vigilante and Rogue classes. It has already been flat out stated that Primal Earth avatars, in relation to the existing Praetorian content, will be treated as tourists. Heroes, Villains, Vigilantes, and Rogues will be able to participate in the existing Praetorian content, but will not be able to start missions on their own.
New content designed for the Primal Earth story arc will likely have similar limitations. Content that is not level locked by Incarnate, or level locked by Task Force, will likely be locked to the Resistance and Loyalist factions.
The result will be that if you want to start and run your own missions, or participate in the Incarnate content, you will need to leave Praetorian and become a Hero or Villain. You will, at some point, have to get off that fence.
You're wrong Je_Saist.
The ONLY reason tourists can't start the opposite alignments' story content is because the contacts have no reason to talk to them because they're opposite alignment.
In Praetoria, there is no "hero or villain only" content. Resistance and Loyalist are both equally accepting of heroes and villains so long as they help their cause.
Think of the Praetoria factions like the neutral factions in World of Warcraft. You got the Loyalists who could be like the Sha'tar of Shattrath and the Resistance who could be like the Scryers. You can be either one, but not both because they hate each other, but you can still switch if you try.
Praetoria is essentially multiple linked cooperative zones with competing factions that players can choose to support and direct where their alignment goes.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if they completely do away with forced absolute alignments someday and go with a light/gray/dark meter like KOTOR to determine which side you're on in pvp.
That is also the only reason they have to have absolute forced alignments that require 4 days to completely switch, for pvp to have 2 concrete opposing sides.
Praetoria is a giant step towards the experience being controlled by the player rather than the choice they make at the beginning of the game. It's a step towards gameplay like Fable and KOTOR where players start out neutral and choose how they want to play and how people see them.

The first and most important reason is that there is no post-20 content in Praetoria. Vigilantes and Rogues cannot exist until level 20 by definition. Thus, by the time they arrive in Praetoria, they will already have outlevelled the content. They will be able to join teams and exemplar down to the levelling Praetorians, just like they can join teams in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles when they don't have Contacts for them, but they won't access those Contacts directly.
The other reason is that while Praetoria is not "hero or villain only" content, it is Praetorian content. Just as with the content of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, you are expected to start with a new character with one of the first Contacts of that "side" and level your way up the heirarchy. Once you reach 20, you have the option of moving over to the other side, but you do not start over again. As a "mature" character, more options open up to you that introduce new elements to the storyline, but most of that still builds on your past.
The Resistance and Loyalty arcs, in fact the whole mechanism there, is unique to Praetoria. Which is why I suspect, even if Heroes and Villains prior to 20 are let into the zones, they will not be able to take Contacts. The Praetorian story arcs are for Praetorians, people born in that world. It tells the story of how they get to 20 and leave their home world.
Now, this does not mean that I think that post-20 content in Praetoria will be limited to Praetorians. I am pretty certain that once some sort of post-20 content is introduced, it will be something like the RWZ or Cimemora, in new zones provided for that purpose. They will be cross faction zones in which both Heroes and Villains will be able to participate -- because the Praetorians themselves will be Heroes or Villains by that time.
No. It is probably not landing with Issue 20 either. |
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
I disagree.

2) Heroes and Villains DO exist from level 1, but Praetorians qualify as neither.
That means that the content in Praetoria is obviously not restricted to those alignments meaning it is one giant "cooperative zone".
Whether you are a hero or villain in Praetoria is just dependent on which side of each faction you choose.
That is why I say Heroes and Villains from Primal Earth, and Praetorians who return as heroes or Villains, will still be able to start story arcs in Praetoria, so long as they meet the level requirements just like what is required in Primal Earth.
The main difference between Primal Earth and Praetoria is that there are no longer separate zones for the different alignments.
Everyone shares the same world as it would be if the world of City of Heroes were a real world of super heroes and villains. It's also how things are implied to be in Primal Earth, but Primal Earth doesn't allow player villains or heroes in opposite alignment areas despite all the NPC heroes and villains who cross over.
I even think PVP will gain a new dimension in Loyalist versus Resistance and not just hero versus villain.
It will take time to do all that though.

But the capability is there.
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.
The other reason is that while Praetoria is not "hero or villain only" content, it is Praetorian content. Just as with the content of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, you are expected to start with a new character with one of the first Contacts of that "side" and level your way up the heirarchy.

That is how it is CURRENTLY because nobody is allowed to go to Praetoria from anywhere else yet.
That will immediately be proven wrong the second existing characters are allowed to leave Primal Earth for Praetoria.
Praetoria is essentially a "cooperative world" where, instead of just one faction everyone supports, you will have to choose a faction to support and be enemies of the other faction.
Praetoria is somewhat of a cross between a cooperative zone and a competitive zone.
I'm very interested to see how PVP will be handled in Praetoria eventually. What sides will there be? How will people be assigned to sides?
That also explains why there are certain Praetoria areas restricted by faction and why players get a badge denoting which faction they belong to. Both could be there to facilitate PVP and the gameplay I speak of.
