I have made this Brute specifically for Sirens' PvP. I looked at that build a lot and I still can't figure out a way to get tough and aid self before lvl 30

Follow up question for those with AR/Anything-other-than-Traps:
How do you keep the enemies in the Ignite patch, without a hold/immob power with the duration and short recharge as Web Grenade?
[/ QUOTE ]
I cant. That is why my AR corruptor is built for teams. I have a very team focused secondary with Cold and wont even attempt to solo with him at the moment. I initially thought snow storm slotted for slows, and all the other slows I get from Cold would be enough, but it isn't enough to take full advantage of Ignite.
Either team with people that can hold/immob, or it is going to be a long hard slog until you get your patron immob. -
I hadn't planned on doing any specific SFs over the double XP weekend but if anyone wants to arrange some I'll be happy to join. I'll be playing most of the weekend on Villainous Union so if you want to team up at all just send me a tell @Blind Minotaur or @Blind Minotaur2.
-
You can count me in, I usually play on Monday nights and will be happy to join in from the villains side as Blind. Can only participate if it's on Union or Test.
Maybe it could be held on both Union and Defiant for the first week and see what sort of turnout we get. If it's not great then maybe move it to test. -
Thanks for the speedy reply
I was sure Seismic Smash was a lvl 30 power, but I did that build at work using the powers guide section of the offical website and that is listing it as the lvl 32 power (now you have reminded me I know it is wrong).
I'm thinking I may not need to get the fighting pool with this brute. I like to get boxing as it is great for fury building, but I might swop it for Air Sup. Anyway, how about this one?:
01) --> Stone Fist
01) --> Charged Armor
02) --> Stone Mallet
04) --> Heavy Mallet
06) --> Hurdle
08) --> Air Superiority
10) --> Health
12) --> Hasten
14) --> Super Speed
16) --> Static Shield
18) --> Grounded
20) --> Stamina
22) --> Aid Other
24) --> Lightning Reflexes
26) --> Aid Self
28) --> Conserve Power
30) --> Seismic Smash
32) --> Conductive Shield
35) --> Power Sink
38) --> Power Surge
41) --> Taunt
44) --> Build Up
47) --> Lightning Field
49) --> Hurl Boulder -
What do people think of this build? I haven't thought about the slotting too much yet, any advice appreciated.

Most doms play very much like blappers, just with less damage but far more safely. As such you cant get better than leaping with cj and acro really. hover is ok but slow and vulnerable to immobilise. I'd take leaping, especially if you plan to solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hover used to be slow. Honestly, it is so much better now. It recently recieved a 10% speed increase, and you can now slot swift with fly speed enhancements. I have 3 SO speed enhancements in both hover and swift and it makes Hover nice and fast. I regularly overtake "running" players in missions. In fact it is such a nice speed that sometime I forget to switch back to fly after completing a mission. -
Thought I'd chip in as no-one seems to have mentioned it. There is a fix for the graphical error Snow Storm causes in the next patch. Might be worth tying it out on test to see if you still have an issue with it, it is a great power afterall.
-
I'd personally put three damage SOs in Mind Probe. It will be your biggest hitter until you reach the later levels.
-
As I mentioned in the other thread, I carried out some more testing the other night and failed to recreated the severe lag that I (and team mates) was experiencing before. I used my second account to team with myself and try out different combinations of Cold powers, moving between zones and completing missions. Nothing that I did caused me to get the lag. It is either a complete coincidence that the only time i've ever experienced this is when playing my Cold (one of my least played toons btw), or it was the fact that I was in a much larger team. Unless any other Cold corruptors can confirm whether there corruptor is causing them a problem I'm going to assume that Cold isn't the issue.

I have experience with all those sets and they are all good fun to play, I haven't tried a fire/ice combo but have played them seperately (ice/ice and fire/nrg).
I am really enjoying my Grav/Psi at the moment. Gravity has loads of fun, utility powers like wormhole and dimension shift and can really turn the tide in a hectic battle.
Psi is probably the quickest secondary for building domination and in a full team you can get it in no time just by spamming psi dart.
If you choose to go Grav/Psi you can probably do without Aid Self. Once slotted you will have Drain Psyche available in every fight and that gives you really good regen. I'd seriously consider getting Dimension Shift, a lot of people do not like intangible powers but with a bit of practice and knowing when to use it, it can be one of the most useful powers in the whole set.
Whichever you pick, have fun -
I'm still a bit unsure about Overload slotting. I've played around with most combinations (always three recharge) and last night was the first time I tried 3 recharge and 3 heal. I used to have it slotted 3 recharge, 2 defense and 1 resistance, I liked that I could laugh at defense debuffs. I tried with no defense and 3 heals and found that if I faced an enemy with defense debuffs then I would be in trouble.
I've finally settled with 3 recharge, 1 defense and 2 heals. It seems like a nice balance to me, you still get an awesome HP buff (just under 2500 total hp at lvl 50) and you have a nice enough boost to defense to still be able to shrug off defense debuffs. -
Please see this thread
I still haven't had another chance to carry out more testing yet. I hope to be able to try it again tonight, I'm going to see if I can narrow it down to a particular power, or see if it is the set itself. -
Corruptors are fine, other than the possible exception of Cold, which I feel may be horribly broken by the way.

I used to run perma rage on my SS Brute, I liked the fact that I could escape the end penalty. It was especially useful at the low to mid levels when endurance is a major issue. I stopped using the exploit a while ago because I used to experience some odd overlapping over the "only affecting self" period. Not sure whether it was because I had three recharge SOs and Hasten but I would get the down time unexpectedly and at seemingly odd intervals. After I7 was released and the blinking icons were added I stopped using perma rage as I found it much more useful to know exactly when I would be penalised.
Whether or not this is an actual nerf is beside the point. A lot of SS tankers (and Brutes!) will have to a) change their slotting and b) change their playstyle. SS tankers will now have to slot their attacks with end reducitons and rely on Rage for their ToHit buffs.
It certainly isn't a game breaking change for SS users, and as I said, I conciously made a decision a stop running Rage a while back and learnt to deal with the down side to Rage, let's not forget that it is (and still will be) an awesome power. -
Thanks for the reply, I thought it might be overkill, I'm going for a kind of Energiser Bunny build where I'll be able to fight for ever. I won't have End Drain or Conserve Power at Sirens Call level so I'll be relying on Stamina. When Rage drops you suffer a 25% drop in end, that can come at really inconvienient times and in PvP my biggest problem previously has been running out of end.
Any suggestion where you think these slots would be more beneficial? -
I know double posting/bumping is against the rules but I hope you'll forgive me in this instance. I'm planning on doing my respec this evening and I'm a bit worried that I've done something silly in my planned build. If any of you "numbers" people could take a look at my slotting I'd really appreciate it. Also if anyone can spot anything odd about the order of my powers, or if I'm overlooking anything glaringly obvious.
Again, I apologise for the double post. -
I have to take my hat off to that feat, as someone who played the RSF whilst it was at it's toughest I can appreciate your accomplishment.
Unfortunately the majority of teams I was a part of simply had no option other than to pull, we wouldn't last a minute with a full on charge.
I do miss the epic feel of the RSF how it was but at the same time it is now available to all. I think it has been a while since we have seen demands like "we will only take a /stone brute as all the others are too squishy" This change can only be positive for the majority of players. -
It wasn't just the fact that the heroes were lvl 54 that was the problem and forced teams into pulling, it was the insane regen rate that they had post I7. I remeber doing some RSF runs that had perfectly balanced teams where everyone knew what they were doing, were fully buffed, stocked up with shivans and nukes and pulling was still the only way to get it done. I think that coupled with the heroes in the last mission being a lvl lower and also having their regen rate lowered the RSF is a lot easier than it was when it first appeared.

I can help you with your slotting a bit. I don't slot my Brutes attacks for damage. I've done some testing and having damage slotted in your attacks makes such a minor difference when you have full fury that it really is a waste of slots. If you struggle to keep your fury high (maybe you are teaming with a slow team) then by all means slot for damage. Are you going to be PvPing at all with this Brute? If so I would put another Accuracy in the attacks and maybe a recharge reduction.
You will be way over the fly speed cap with three SOs in fly and one in Swift. Two in fly and one in swift is just over the cap IIRC.
I personally don't like Build Up for brutes for the same reason as I don't like slotting for Damage. BU only really comes in useful when you're struggling to build fury or at the start of fights, again it comes down to personal preference.
What lvl are you at the moment? Lightening Field will be a real drain on your end until you get stamina especially if you are planning to run static shield, chraged armour and grounded all at the same time. I would consider getting it later. Some people will see it as endurance efficient due to it doing constant damage to the mobs around you at a cheaper end cost than your attacks but I always find I struggle to run my shields and aura pre stamina.
One last thing, I always like to take Taunt on my Brutes as I find it great for keeping my fury high when I'm in a big team. Well worth considering. -
Ok, I'm thinking of respecing my main into the below build. This is to be pvp focused. I'll be mostly fighting in Sirens/Warburg, with some arena thrown in.
What do you think (bear in mind I'm already 50)?
(Ignore the range increase in Taunt, it should be acc but my builder is a bit screwy).

I haven't decided on my final two powers, my builder doesn't list patron powers (mako btw) but I've always found acro handy for pvping at lvl 50 for extra protection as it stacks with Entropy shield.
Oh and Footstomp and End Drain come in so late as I only really use them in PvE (being pbaoes). -
Sounds fun, count me in.
Can Vet rewards be exluded from the arena? At lvl 5 I should imagine that Sands of Mu and the Nemisis Staff might be a little overpowered -
Anyone have any experience with Stone/Elec Brutes? I wanted to build it for PvP, mostly zonal with some arena thrown in.
I chose Stone/Elec because I read that stone attacks are slow but powerful. If I pick up Lightning Reflexes and Hasten I should have no problems. Anyone offer any build advice? -

note that i havent mentioned energy aura...most scrappers can take these down at 41+ and even before than it isnt to hard unless they use overload

Yeah, EA is teh gimp, buff plz devs -
Is Aid self really that good for Doms in PvP? They have such a low HP bar that a few good whacks spells the end for the dom. I've only really picked Aid Self on toons that are defense based as it makes it a lot easier to use in battle due to it's interuptable nature.
As I said, I don't have any experience with Aid Self on a Dom, as I see it Aid Self needs to be heavily slotted and you need to pick Aid Other or Stimulant before you can get it. I've always got other powers to pick and Aid Self usually misses out.
I usually PvP in zones and if I get into trouble with my Dom I run. I pick my targets carefully and focus on building domination (other players or NPCs if I got into trouble).
Filth, you're one of the most experienced PvPing Doms I know so I value your advice. Can you explain why you think it is a must have and also how to use it most effectively?
