I hereby appoint Lothic as Ambassador to our nearest black hole!

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits . . . and your German Shepard . . . and your freaky, forked tongue!

Purchasable accolades. I have gotten the badges that lead to the accolades on so many characters that hunting fake nemesis, illusionist pets, monkeys, lost leaders, etc. has become a huge grind. I would spend points, tokens, merits, influence, and money to buy them.
-
Two things:
First, I appreciate the time that Von Kreiger puts into these summaries. I would be much less informed if it weren't for him.
Second, I used to be at least a part-time pvper and would like to do so again in this game, but not as it currently exists.
I find that the devs and community reps (like Zwill, not members of the community) frequently shy away from any response about pvp or give a dismissive response. I was interested in hearing what the question and answer involving pvp was. (Thanks Turg for explaining that part). -
Thanks for the info, but what's a Mot?

So you're saying I can't be a stone armor fire blaster? Spoil sport!

I made an elec/elec/mu dom to 50 and really enjoyed the ride. I found that the combination of sleep, confuse, knockdown and end drain was really powerful mitigation and kept me safe in most situations. But I also felt that it didn't dish out a lot of damage.
Here is my not-too-expensive perma dom build with some defense and Surge of Power so that you can look like your gremlins and have capped s/l/e resists. It's pre-inherent fitness, so you can pick 3 additional powers.

I didn't like Norton's Banner, and I like Norton.
I'll reserve judgment on this guy. -
Do you think that would be "balanced" with a primary blast and secondary armor? Not trolling, looking for an honest answer.
-
Seems like a cool idea to me. I'll reserve comment on the rarity after I run it a few times and poll my teammates. They can always adjust the drop rate.
I know that different players have different likes, dislikes, and tolerances, but it does not bother me in the slightest if this is a very rare item that sells for hundreds of millions. I have one DP character that would want them as a trophy. He'll try to get lucky (or rely on lucky friends) and if not he'll buy them with merits, not influence. -

Quote:Totally agree with Uber. We're constantly exploring many designs for possible implementation. In this particular case, we don't have any current plans on implementing this feature, and it showing on the vendor was a bug (if you look at the tooltip, it's obviously WIP).
While I love to see you guys theorize and speculate, I also believe it's important to set appropriate expectations. In this case, do not expect to see this feature in the immediate future.
I have had a few friends come back and resubscribe, a few who poke their heads in every now and then to say, "hi", and a few who logged back in and left in a huff seeing how limited they were as premiums.
You can make money off of premiums buying knickknacks off the market only if you can keep them playing. Lacking the IOs that they had previously earned is a deal-breaker for many of them. Having an alternate, non-financial route to regain their IOs would earn some premium goodwill. -

Quote:Says you!The dog disappears when you get outside of 200 feet away from it and will subsequently reappear when you get back to within 200 feet (if you're verticle). It has no collision, does not have fleas, has had all of it's shots and is housebroken.
No promises on if it does the butt scoot or not. -
Also, here is Von Krieger's idea for a Hellfire Elementalist EAT. While it's not exactly the same request, he has an interesting take on how to make a range/armor AT.

For Hyperstrike:
1) What will you primarily be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
It's an all-purpose computer. I mainly play CoH but occasionally steal one of my kids' games for a week or two. I also use it as a home office (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail) and web surfing.
2) What's your budget? (Real Dollars) Are tax and shipping included? This is important as it allows people trying to help you to suggest things appropriate to your budget.
I can't see spending much more than $200 this time of year on myself. I might be able to get family to buy items for $100 or less, or the equivalent in cash/gift cards.
3) Where do you live? This is important as it affects what vendors you may buy from and how much shipping costs might be.
Tallahassee, FL. I generally buy parts from Newegg and built systems from cyberpowerpc.
4) Are you planning to buy or build?
Buying parts and self installing . . . a slow build, I guess.
5) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need. If you're unsure what exactly you need, say so.
I'm not looking for all new, just the next logical upgrade to extend the life and see some improved performance.
6) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I guess my case (black X-Cruiser) and my PSU (Ultra V-series 600watt) and peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer)
7) Will you be overclocking?
Not planning to. Never have before.
8) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
19" Viewsonic Optiquest
9) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Between now and New Year's Eve.
10) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
I went with SLI since I tend to favor Nvidia and thought I might pair up one day. I suppose it's still viable to get one or more kids a new graphics card and then pair up 9800s in mine.
11) Any specific must-have features? Must be able to max out Ultra-Mode? Must have 6+GB of RAM? Must have an SSD? etc.
Not really. I like pretty graphics but I value stability, longevity, and ease of use more.
12) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to use?
I generally go Nvidia and Intel, but the last 2 computers I bought (for the twins) have AMD. For other parts I prefer well-known, favorably reviewed brands (WD, Seagate, EVGA, PNY, etc.) to fly-by-nights. But I have bought generic stuff as well if the price was right.
13) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to avoid?
Nope.
14) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit? (Note: If your current OS came with your computer, odds are that it is NOT transferable.)
OEM Windows XP Pro 32bit. -

So you guys agree that a ~$200 card would get me more of a performance upgrade than ~$160 for windows 7 and another 2 gigs memory?
I guessed the opposite. I should have pulled a Costanza and gone with the opposite of my first reaction.
Thanks for the opinions. Others feel free to chime in to agree or disagree.
Edit: *Looks up Micro Center* The closest would be about 5 hours away in Atlanta. Is it that much cheaper than what i could get from Newegg or equivalent? -
You don't get it. The desire isn't to have an unkillable tankmage. The desire is to have more variety.
Hell, with incarnate powers EVERYTHING can be a tankmage now. So what's the harm is having a fire blast/fire armor that is LESS damaging than a corrupter and LESS sturdy than a fire armor scrapper? The fact that I can make something just as strong and just as sturdy with other powersets doesn't answer the question. -
I don't see why so many are dead set against the idea. Why can't we have melee/buff and range/armor as long as the modifiers and HP are properly scaled? As many others have said, "tankmage" is already achievable in numerous ways.
But by having a range/armor AT we could really exponentially increase the variety of characters we could play. -

Hi gurus!
I was hoping to get some advice as to what i should upgrade for my computer to extend it's useful life and see some performance upgrades. My COHHelper log is down below. My guess is that I should first upgrade to Windows 7 64 and then add a few sticks of memory. On a related question: My kids have somewhat newer cpu/mobos and windows 7 64 but the same video card. What should I get them for Christmas?

I had a similar problem and sent a tell to Guyperfect. Here was his response:
Quote:I closed out all instances of Sentinel, deleted tracker.dat and restarted as instructed. Lo and behold! It worked after that. We've recently been encountering difficulties between certain Windows Updates and Avast! antivirus processes getting in the way of Sentinel's activities. Additionally, if Sentinel's networking fails for whatever reason, a design flaw in some third-party software we're using will cause it to enter an endless loop and hang around in memory forever. These inconveniences are being looked into.
Make sure no instances of Sentinel are running, delete tracker.dat (which contains user settings), and try again from scratch. If it still doesn't work, try temporarily disabling any antivirus software you may be using to see if it's triggering any false positives.
