Quote:*Warning: spoilers!*Or... you know... we could defeat Mother/Tilman and Aurora will be freed and Calvin and Aurora will live happily ever after once Aurora joins Calvin's crusade in bringing down Cole because she's been used.
>_<
Hahaha! You poor fool, this is PREATORIA! You want a happy ending? Here it is- JUST KIDDING! Did you just take down the head of the Seer network? Guess what?! You have to betray primal earth and shackle Sister Psyche to the seer network instead to take Mother's place!
Did you free Katie Douglas? Well put her back in the seer network!
Oh! Noble Savage made it out! Hooray! Better start counting his days because he's living on borrowed time.
Was the Carnival of Light the only beacon of good in Praetoria? Guess what? Half of their members are now evil and insane! Oh! And thirty levels later THEIR LEADER IS DEAD!
Oh, and by the way, everything you've been doing has not made a bat bugger of good difference in the long run.
Sorry, Rapthorn, you forget, Praetoria does not give happy endings, only kicks in the loins. -
Given that I'm an RPer (Part of the pinnacle RPCongress, check us out at www.RPcongress.com >.> /plug), A LOT of things have happened to most of my toons, and because I produce stories more convoluted/worse than anything the Devs have dun with the Well of Furies lore, in the case of some, it's easier to ask WHAT HASN'T happened.
-
I would really like to add my voice to this again because I just realized two things:
1. We will be getting an influx of new people soon.
2. Travel powers are being unlocked earlier with issue 21.
Now the second point might be an argument AGAINST adding in faster means of transport in IP, but do this for me: Make a character with super speed, teleport, or fly, then try to fly from one hand of IP to the other and see how long it takes.
Travel powers do not really help in IP, they actually would worsen player perceptions because even when going the fastest you can in the game, it will still probably take you about two minutes to travel from one end of IP to the next. -
Well the implications that came with GR alone and the original Praet Arcs all but said everything the First Ward had. The First ward simply pointed out that not only was this destructive towards the people she was doing this to, but it was becoming destructive towards all of Praetoria.
-
Quote:"building her up"?! I think she doesn't need further "build up", about the only thing that could make her more evil is back stabbing Cole and then coconspiring with the Coming Storm.Especially now that First Ward is building her up to be as big a monster as Tyrant - and there's still the possibility we'll need to fight and defeat the Hamidon too, to prove to the Well that we're superior to its current champion - the Underground Trial kinda sets that up as a possible future showdown.

Quote:Only the photonic is coincidental, even then I got the name from you, Seismic judgment is totally yours, sorry I didn't give you credit but I forgot who was the original poster.
As another, non-lore Incarnate Tree themes:
Wrathful Destiny: +ToHit and +Damage (+movement in radial paths)
... I really wanted to come up with one for Interface but I can't think of anything good and original. -
I'm gonna admit, we do end up fighting a lot more standard mooks than any genuinely interesting Super Heroes or Arch-Villains on a regular basis, but I can't help but think of that as part of the drawback of the genre itself.
It would be nice if the Devs basically had some more "Design an NPC" contest with the categories including new enemies to be added to existing groups and new special bosses to fight during tips and newspapers. -
Sad part is, it's not even that villainous since you're not the one actively causing a lot of the problems, the best you end up doing is rubbing some salt in it. From my play through of the First Ward, the underlined message is: "Lo the ultimate fate of Praetoria and despair."
-
Photonic Judgement: Orbital laser strike. Extreme energy damage with fire damage over time, stun control effect.
Seismic Judgment: A Point blank Area of Effect ground punch that causes the earth tremble, rip, and tear beneath the feat of foes. Sort of a spread out Extreme Damage over Time with lots of Knock Down/up. -
Quote:Hell, Techbot, you make some nasty choices AS A HERO. Not Resistance or vigilante, as a HERO, the one who's supposed to save everyone?^ Agreed
That, and First Ward DOES cater to Villains; you can make some quite nasty choices and cave in more than a few skulls if you so choose.
Well this is Praetoria, saving everyone is not possible, instead you send most of Noble Savage's men to their death's, you personally mind **** Katie back into the seer network, rack up a pretty nasty body count, and in the end you don't really resolve a damn thing besides stopping the IMMEDIATE destruction of what's left of the First Ward, but it's pretty damn clear that no matter what you do, the place is gonna fall apart on it's own anyway.
What? Did you think this was Sugar Town Paragon? No, it's Praetoria and you're shown what it's like to be a Responsibilities Loyalist and that you can't save jack here.
Oh, ans the Carnival of Light? Guess what? Twenty levels later, their leader dies and their membership has already been proven to be divided and beset at all sides from even the Resistance.
Clearly the next Incarnate trial is going to be nuking the entire dimension to hell because given what we've seen that's about the only HEROIC thing you can do for the place. -
Quote:I'm not sure that's doable at this stage, sadly, simply because it would require giving out respecs for people who slotted with IOs.Turn this single target attack into a narrow melee cone (20 degree arc; standard melee range; same damage)
Turn Flurry into a PBAoE (slightly less damage)
Quote:Increase the damage (if it is to remain a single target attack)
Somehow remove the rooting and allow the player to move away from the actual animation; freeing the character up to do other actions (which could give it a more 'now you see me, now you don't' approach when in combat)
[or apply a similar 'per-tick-chance-for-mez-effect' equation to Flurry that's being used for Static Field's sleep effect] -
Quote:This has always bugged me as well: if we want a generic Arachnos, Kheldian, or any sort of boss from any faction actually, we'd have to restrict ourselves to a certain level range or do with none at all.sunstorm always felt like a fairly generic PPD PB thats an EB/AV
on the arachnos side of things, kind of got me there, i think the only signture that looks fairly generic would be regent korel for AVs, and i think there is an EB ranked bane spider executioner (night widow nocturne is pretty good for generic night widow, but that will limit your arc to a specific lvl range)
thats all i can think of though but i know it doesnt cover as much as we could do with custom enemies
But that's getting off into a tangent of its own, and I'm not Zwill. -
I'll /sign this.
I mean we don't need the shapeshifting powers, just give us the shields and blasts used by Khelds and divide the VEATs into multiple Widow, Fortunata, Crab spider, Bane Spider, and Huntsman sets (well, probably two for each given the extra armor powers and all). -
Quote:Don't forget, you can also:Some other ways of getting the Well's Notice....
* Do a really good Ronald Reagan impression...
* EVERYONE throws in pennies, nickels and dimes... but how many thrown in crisp 100 dollar bills?
* If even bad attention is better than no attention then I have two words for you... "Public Urinal"
* Tell it you're the only person in CoH history to earn the "Master Spelunker" badge.
* To heck with getting its attention... so what if it won't let you bring up the bucket? Just bring a really, really, really long straw.
* Threaten it with 5,000 packets of unsweetened Kool-Aid and not a single grain of sugar. Then NO ONE will want to drink from it.
* Offer it a kick-back on your new "Essence of the Furies" line of cologne and body wash products.
* Reveal to it that you know it's secret and will release to the press the fact that Hamidon was actually created the day someone poured 10 pounds of gelatin mix into the well.
* Bring a class-action law suit against the Well for harassment due to the fact that males only have to drink from the Well to get power; females need to bathe nude in its waters.
*Go on a racist rant about Incarnates
*Very loudly protest the Well as some force of evil the Church if Scientology claims it to be.
*Go on without and continue to proclaim that even without the Well you are "Winning!" -
Yes, sadly, and it's all we're likely to see.
it's a shame since Shiki Tohno/Nanaya have shown me how badass single knife fighting can be. -
I have an empathy/energy defender. She actually can solo under the right build through KB juggling, but my default build for her leaves her with four attacks total. When dual builds launched I explicitly built her primary build around the idea of being CRIPPLINGLY team dependent.
-
Have you guys ever considered consolidating this stuff with various lore bits and development notes into some kind of limited production City of bible?
-
Shame it seems we might not be getting the full length CoT skirts worn by Death Mages and such.* I guess we can't win them all, and I know my Necronomicon personification character will be using them in at least one of his costumes where he's not dressed like Rod Serling.
*If this this NOT the case, I will be extremely overjoyed. -
For Reference: Minecraft is like the City of base editor but the developers of Minecraft actually update it and listen to their forums.
BA-ZING! -
YES! YES!
Also:
Alternate for Fly:
-Longbow Chaser: You hop into a Longbow chaser, and even gain machine gun and rocket launcher powers to go with it. Unfortunately, because it is a longbow chaser, these attacks deal no damage and you have a -90% resistance, defense, and max HP while riding in it. -

Quote:Well, in Statesman's case, it's more an excuse to see him get rerolled and sort of start fresh and undergo major character development. It's not enough that Marcus and Stefan are already being depicted as losers who are nearly slaves to a will greater than their own and that your character now has the pleasure of growing stronger than either of them can ever hope to become and still remain sane?
That's what this is all about. The players who always said "Why am I the sidekick? Why does a NPC get to be stronger than me? It ain't fair!" now get their turn to say "Woot! Now I am the strongest force in the universe!"
I might have more sympathy for your position if I'd ever seen evidence that Statesman thought of any lesser-powered person as "lowly" or "beneath" him.
Envy by lesser-powered heroes doesn't equate to hubris on the part of the one they envy.
It seemed like a kinder option than just killing him off, plus it would make sense if Emperor Cole has such influence over the well that he can suppress the powers of people who aren't even connected to it, and weaken even those who are.
What keeps him from asking the Well: "States is being too much of a problem, take away his support."
But when it gets right down to it, I like to think of it as an opportunity to show that you can take down Statesman the hero, but the man Marcus Cole, the true driving force behind him will NOT give up the fight for good, even when all that's left is his bones.
I'd also like to clarify that, in concept, I do like the character of Statesman and I actually wrote a majority of his part of his Character sheet in the the TV trope Wiki entry.
(Found here) But unfortunately, anyone who RPs with me knows that characters I like I tend to treat the cruelest. -
Quote:I mean back to the level he was before he even drank from the Well. This would also be an interesting path to take with Statesman who would then have to change from invul/SS to shield/Street Justice or Martial/Arts.Loses all his support as in, "Cole's now at Reichsman, Imperius, Stateman or Lord Recluse level of support (or even Stheno or Trapdoor levels)?"
or as in, "Cole's back down to the level he was when he fought Hamidon to a standstill"; loss of support?
While most people on the internet enjoy corrupting pure and innocent things, I enjoy watching gods be knocked off pedestals and be forced to walk among those they once considered "lowly". -
Quote:Actually, there's quite a few of the old buildings still around, and this actually works to a degree. That's totally the case with the new Atlas Park - it really is like new zone - there's almost nothing left of the old one.
I kind of wish they didn't try to make City Hall into a two story buildings, but I guess they wanted people to stop assuming the Mayor of Paragon's office wasn't hidden in the globe of Atlas like some kind of Super Villain Mayor, twirling their moustache and laughing at all the pitiful heroes, unaware they only serve him to secure his power.
And then, he's onto his next appointments for the day, another budget cut to the city bus lines and schools, a hair cut, then his six o' clock charity dinner.
