When I first got my Blu-Ray player I picked up the live action Speed Racer movie. Not only is it a fun little flick, it really shows off some great color depth in HD.

Yeah, I was expecting something more like Project Rooftop's most recent post: Career Day: Chambara JLA

Portmanteaus and mashups are probably your best "one word" bet at this point, if this is for CoH. Blacklight was mentioned by McNum, but that's a common enough one that it's likely already in use. Some other ideas:
Blackbeam
Darklance
Bloodshift
Entrophase

If Peter Parker dies will he go to hell for his deal with Mephisto?
Can Ben Reilly come back? -
Teen Titans: Judas Contract
Green Arrow: The Sounds of Violence
Transmetropolitan: The New Scum
Villains United
Shadowpact: The Pentacle Plot
She-Hulk: Time Trials
Umbrella Academy: Dallas -
I'm a fan of Sci-Fi Genre. You have regular comic subscriptions on a weekly, every 2 weeks or monthly basis and add other geek-related items and back issues to your cart and just have them shipped with the next subscription send, saving overall on shipping. They discount based on % of regular titles in the subscription as well.
My friend goes through dcbservice.com and probably saves more money that I did, but I didn't like their ordering process, personally. -
It's one of the constant issues for comics, especially when sidekicks age and get replaced and end up being the same age as their mentors. The progression of not one, but three Robins from kid sidekick to their own character really creates an inconsistency when examining the timeline and trying to figure out character ages. I prefer to simply chant the MST3K Mantra and hope for the best.

Could they recast Mutt? I liked the Mutt character, but I didn't like Shia in the role. That said, I felt most of the acting in Crystal Skull was either too cardboard or too hammy, and I did like Shia in Eagle Eye. So, uh, yeah. I'd give it a shot.

Do. The Fate system is one of the greatest progressive leaps forward in PnP RPGs and the Dresden Files implementation is nicely malleable to just about any contemporary fantasy setting--and perhaps beyond with a little work (and research through the DFRPG forums). Plus, the writing in the books is just spot on Dresdenverse stuff.

I'm not a huge anime fan, but this looked quirky enough to get my attention. If you have any sort of anime-girl related fetish, there's pretty much a character for it in the series. Plenty of fanservice, lots of silliness, plenty of action and it also had some hidden depths to characterization and the overall storyline. Overall, a surprisingly enjoyable series.
I picked up some of the Revoltech figures as well. Definitely not for kids, but pretty fun. I, uh, don't think I'll be incorporating them into my Muppet Show photo-comic, though. -

Quote:Yeah, cruise ships are massive and one could, in theory, bunk away in a room the entire time, but the picture they painted of the couple was that they were at least somewhat active and willing to get wasted with strangers. And most cruise events are all about that--or, at least, that's what I do when I'm on a cruise. What gets me though is that his door card got him aboard the ship and that ties into a cruise ship's computer system with room number, photo, name, etc. I guess that's what tweaked me more than anything. He was able to get onto the ship but after that he wasn't in the system after that? Yeah, possible, and in a different show or movie I might buy it, but here... not so much.In general, I agree that most global conspiracies involve supernatural levels of organization/buy-in, but I don't think that's the case with the cruise ship incident.
It's not what was done so much as how it was presented. It didn't pass my plausibility meter based on the show I was watching. But, like I said before, that's just me. The inability to stop the plane from taking off, the weird conversation with the air control tower, the cruise ship post-entry hacking, the disabled jets... Nothing that, on their own, would be deal-breakers for me and the show, but they were enough to break the narrative for me. I'm willing to give it another shot, see if the show can find its legs, but my expectations are less than lofty. -
Quote:The problem with hacking cruise line computers or bribing everyone involved is that I can't buy into the fact that no employee would admit interacting with the boyfriend and it couldn't be resolved via security cameras. The human interaction and sudden isolation just kills it. I have this issue with most TV shows and movies that try to play the massive conspiracy angle. Even "The Game", as much as I liked the movie, really tweaked me in that respect. The only plausible explanations for this particular show that I'd be satisfied with would be that The Event also altered time so that he really didn't have a room or if it does get resolved in the next episode by showing the steward, security guard and guy in the room being part of a limited number of people who were in on it.Who says it was hacked? If you're a shadowy organization with unlimited funds, you bribe everyone involved and they purge the database normally. After all, they already had to hire two actors to play the couple who "really" had the room.
Quote:As far as the fighters, well, maybe whoever teleported the plane also prevented the fighters from shooting it down.
YMMV as to how much or little this may bother you, but, for me, giant conspiracy plots in general are hard for me to get into. I pick the little holes to death. -
Quote:I'm hoping the narrative jumping won't be quite so all over the place in future episodes, but so far I'm not really on board with the show in general. It shares the overall problem that many conspiracy movies/shows make, too much reliance on the "technology is magic" facade and "anything can be hacked". Not being able to stop the plane, hacking a cruise ship's computer and removing all evidence... Just snapped my disbelief suspenders a bit too hard. But second and worse, they cut the narrative back and forth in time every two minutes. If I glanced away from the TV and back again, I didn't know if the story was in the past or the present. It's a horrible directing choice and the scriptwriter should be slapped.
I'll catch the next ep, though. I need something to bridge the hour between Chuck and Castle. -
For gameplay, I liked Overlord better than LotSB, but I still had a lot of fun playing LotSB and actually getting to interact with Liara made me glad I stayed faithful!
I'm hoping an Ashley/Kaiden pack will be next. But I wouldn't mind some immediate consequences from ME1 & ME2 creeping in on me already, too. All in all, both this and Overlord have well worth the points that I'm not sure I felt some of the other DLC packs have been. -

Quote:I think there's a clause in his contract where his characters must die in 90% of all his projects.Squeeeeee! Sean Bean Sean Bean Sean BEAN!!!! Too bad his part won't be for very long
I love the books and I only hope GRRM can keep up his writing "schedule" before the show is forced to deviate too far from the fiction due to lack of printed work. -

Yeah, there's not too much known about Praetoria... yet. Though, you might also want to keep an eye on the CoH wiki Praetoria page as more information is released, as well.

Quote:I actually liked the TV series. I thought it had potential--even if it was a departure from the books. I think if it had continued it really could have been a good show. I've only read the first 9 books, so far. I need to get back to reading them. Quite enjoyable. But I've been re-reading the Song of Ice and Fire series and have the 2nd Dragon Age book to finish up before I get back to more contemporary... magic.Im so far behind on reading The Dresden Files ever since that poorly done tv series.. I just finished reading 'Blood Rites' so I think I'm 6 books behind, including the new one.

Wait... mecha? Oh noes! It's a mad cat in a Mad Cat!

Suddenly I'm picturing you in your mecha outfit still peddling that pink jalopy pedal car, Fedor.
Good morning, Rookery!
