I wonder what server he plays on - I read Book I of the DRESDEN FILES as sort of a 'get an idea what this series is' thing when a friend started running the RPG, and just got sucked in. I don't know whether I'd thank him or slap him. (Or hey, I can even make an in-game vid for him! "Screw Chicago, Harry Dresden is now saving Paragon City!")

Also, (SPOILERY COMMENT AHOY) I wonder if part of the reason Harry finally accepted Mab's offer was because Jim Butcher got his character up to level 41 and picked up the Cold Mastery APP.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure Jim has his characters on Virtue. At least, that's what I heard...

They really need to proliferate Fire Blast to Defenders, I figure Harry is a Force Field/Fire Blast Defender with the original Defiance instead of Vigilance

I'm pretty sure its timeslot overlaped with the Meet & Greet.
Personally I'd probably have gone to the panel truth be told. I'm huge fan of Sanderson's books and I've enjoied books from almost everyone else on that panel as well. Now, liking a book someone's written and liking them and their public speaking ability are two sepearate things, but I've always found it fascinating to go to those writer's panels nonetheless.

Uhm... err... due to the ill timing on this post I must withdraw my knowledge of the server that he and a few other authors play on, it seems to have slipped my memory, completely... Well, it seems that Jim has reserved the name on every server. (Smart man.) So, if anyone on here happens to know Jim (or Jim, if you see this), I would love to make a video for Harry Dresden in Paragon City. (And thanks to the joys of demo editing, I can mix and match powersets to give him whatever powers are appropo... and am quite capable of setting entire buildings on fire or blowing up cars spontaneously for the right effect.)
(Only problem is that there is no male face in the game NEARLY as hot as whoever Christian McGrath gets to model for Harry on the book covers... *sigh*)

Now let's see, CoH powers that Dresden would have:
Fireball (obviously)
Blaze
Blazing Bolt
Inferno (maybe?)
Aim (from fire blast to represent the Hellfire he had for a while, and then replace it with Focus Chi for Soulfire)
Revolver (the temp power, not from DP)
Shotgun (he did carry one for a while)
Temp Invulnerability (from the magically imbued duster)
Personal Force Field (from his shield bracelet)
Power Thrust (the kinetic rings)
Boxing
Kick
Teleport (since there aren't any good models for the Blue Beetle, Teleport makes a good stand in for the shortcuts through the Never Never)
Optional powers:
Blizzard (for the Winter Knight mojo he was packing for a time)
Gale (could be in the powers he would have, although it seems like he's been using his air manipulation abilities less and less lately)
Earthquake/Volcanic gasses (he did it during the incident with the Raiths and the cave on their compound)

I have no idea why Harry Dresden (or at least this Harry Dresden) is Grav/FF.

I wasn't aware that Jim Butcher plays. I know he lives less than 30 minutes from me though
I have read every book, and every story with Harry in it. So looking forward to Ghost Story. I haven't played the RPG yet.
No one pays attention to me, cause I listen to the voices in my head.
On the off chance he reads the forums as well...Jim i love the Dresden books. Keep up the great work.

Oh, and there are notes in the margins from Harry, complaining about the player, Jim, setting him up for so much trouble.

I came upon this video through Brandon Sandersons blog. It's of a panel at NYCC were authors Jim Butcher, Joe Abercrombie, Peter V. Brett, Naomi Novik, Deborah Harkness and Brandon Sanderson discuss fantasy and writing.
At one point (around 9:50 of part I) the discussion turns to the influence of the popularity of online games on the rise in popularity of fantasy books.
Jim Butcher (Dresden Files) mentions playing CoH and his imo hilarious run in with the name genericing policy. You could have worse advertising for the game.
