Going Rogue / Praetoria RP Lore Resources

What resources / links would you recommend to get the most info on Praetoria, as well as its timeline, lore, etc. I'm trying to work on the backstory for the three characters I am most likely to play once GR goes live, and I would like to have a good foundation to build from in this new universe.

Off the top of my head, there's the Going Rogue official site, a couple of issues of the second comic book run for City of Heroes, and the level 40-50 arcs Hero side involving Tyrant and his crew.

That. Those are all I really can think of off the top of my head myself.

Yeah, there's not too much known about Praetoria... yet. Though, you might also want to keep an eye on the CoH wiki Praetoria page as more information is released, as well.

All the old info is basically "Evil Goatee Paragon." It's hard to build a whole expansion about that, so they seem to be going for something a little different (and hopefully a bit deeper/more nuanced) with the material that's already been posted on the GR site. But what we know about the "new" vision of Praetoria right now is no more than when the bios for Ghost Widow, et al were being put up on the CoV site.

Sure they do. It's a great place to catch malware ads, read out-dated articles that have been loaded with RMT spam, and a decent host for horrible CoX-related slash-fiction.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Really? I've never had a problem like that with the site. I use it all the time. If I have any question it is the first place I go.

This is unfair to Wikia-CoH. They have very little horrible slash fanfiction.

One thing to think about... I think it's in one of the missions leading up to the Praetorian arc, where the contact says that Praetorians and Carnies are fighting each other. Well, in going to stamp out the fight, one of the Carnies mentions that the Praetorian leader mistook them for the Carnival of Light. Hmmm...

Oh... I didn't remember that first one. My bookmark is set to paragonwiki.com. I understand now.

Just to make sure we're all on the same page:

Paragon Wiki started around February 2006 as a privately hosted site. (Note that this was about a year before I started working on the wiki, so I can't say for sure what the exact date was. I also can't say for certain, but my impression is that when TonyV created the site, he only intended it to be supplemental to the Paragon City Free Press and Paragon Maps sites that were already up and running.) During the summer of 2007, Wikia began to approach TonyV, offering to assume hosting of Paragon Wiki in their network of gaming wikis. There was much discussion among the admins and a healthy amount of correspondence between TonyV and Wikia's staff (including Jimmy Wales). The Paragon Wiki staff had a few concerns about how things over and Wikia worked and what that meant for the CoH/V community. Wikia made a lot of promises to address those concerns, and in August 2007, all content was moved from the old servers where Paragon Wiki had started out to Wikia's servers. The paragonwiki.com domain name was transferred over as well.

Fast forward to October 2008. Wikia's views on how advertising should be handled on all of their sites had become very unpopular with the communities on more than a few of their sites, and when Wikia rolled out their new advertising business model (which included randomly embedding ads in the middle of or in the "See Also" sections of articles), several of their communities made the decision to leave. The Paragon Wiki staff decided that it was no longer in the best interests of the CoH/V community to remain with Wikia and left. Paragon Wiki kept the site name, logos, and paragonwiki.com domain name in the move, transferring to the location where they are presently hosted side by side with most of the rest of the Titan Network. Wikia changed the name of their site to the City of Heroes Wiki, changed the logos to avoid confusion, assigned a couple of people administration duties, and continued on their way.

While it is terribly unfortunate that Wikia's version of the wiki has not been kept up to date, under the GNU Free Documentation License, they are well within their rights to keep their archived copy of wiki content up and running. (Technically, anyone who wanted to copy all of the content from either of the sites and start their own wiki would also be well within their rights as laid out in the GNU FDL. That's just the way the license works.)

OK. Now that I've cleared all of that up, I'll let you get back to the discussion.

(Almost makes me wonder if we shouldn't make a History of Paragon Wiki page...)
