  2. So I was thinking, FINALLY I get to have something I have ALWAYS been looking forward to: Staff Fighting! But alas, this is hardly what I was promised! No, instead, all it turned out to be was just another shiny POWERSET (not AT)...

Where is Melissa berating Matt in front of coworkers? Where is Tim making fun of Phil for wearing full body spandex? I was promised Staff Fighting, by gum it! I won't be satisfied until Sean gets his lunch stolen from the fridge by Ray and a battle of fisty cuffs breaks out (and posted on YouTube).

(ninja edit, it's not an AT as dugfromtheearth mentioned)

    Tights!

I might be too late in posting on this thread, I see it's degenerated into fisty-cuffs

Anyway, one of the things I'd like to see is just tights w/o the sole option. Not "soul", but sole, the bottom of the shoe, as in more like just wearing socks without shoes, but for tights. Several comic characters tend to have this look, and I'd like it is an option as well.

That is all. Back to your squabbling...
  4. Oddly enough, I got the "Loves a Challenge" badge the first time I ran it with a group. No idea how we pulled that one off, it was just after the trial was introduced. Perhaps we were really focused, as we didn't know what to expect and were on our "A" game.

On the other hand, "Avoids the Green Stuff" seems to be nearly impossible to get, as there's always one dipstick that can't listen to instructions and turn off fly powers, or gets scrapper-lock, or any number of reasons. Honestly, this badge isn't hard to get, you just have to pay attention to your surroundings and, well, pay attention to those big red letters saying "OBLITERATION BEAM FIRING!"

Bunker Buster has also been a problem to get, as someone keeps attacking after they've been told to stop.Otherwise, I don't think it's a difficult badge. "Anti Anti-Matter" doesn'tsound difficult to get, but finding people that are willing to stick it out it the tough part.

  5. I'll stand behind the OP and confirm that you cannot put combined Hamis on the market. That is, any Hamis that are *+ or*++ cannot be put on the market to sell, they have to be uncombined.

Cannot confirm that you can't e-mail them or what not, it may also be true. There is something that the game really doesn't like about combined Hamis. However, I do believe that, at least as far as the market part is concerned, it's working as intended. Anyone else know if you can sellcombined SOs, DOs, etc?

  6. I love these! More please!

    Or...MOAR!

  7. In the time since I started playing this game back in 2004/2005 (not sure, but I know I could check), so many things have happened in my life:

    1) I started when my oldest daughter was only 3. Today she is 9, and sometimes plays CoH with me!
    2) I've since had two other daughters in 2007 and 2009. Gosh, my family has grown!
    3) I've gone from being directionless in my life to getting my Master's in Counseling, and am currently starting my own private practice
    4) I've watched my marriage have several ups and downs. My partner left a very nice paying job two years ago to pursue having a business of her own. I'm so proud of her.
    5) I went from playing on a really crappy Intel Pentium II when I first started on a business HP machine, to a real gaming HP maching (Blackbird 002 with upgrades). I had a few other machines in between, butI love this rig because it's so unique.
    6) Almost forgot, I spent four of those years working overnight on weekends and spending more than a few of those hours on CoH. When I left that job, I knew my playing time would be reduced. In a way, it was a good thing,as I was getting burned out from too much playing!

I'm not mentioning all the changes that have taken place in the City of game, because that's a whole other thread. It's just been such a part of my life that I sometimes forget. I look forward to keeping it in my life, to any changes that may come, and hopefully to another seven years.

So what about you guys? What significant things have happened in your life since you started playing?

    @Akry
  8. It roots whether you are using other powers or not. It roots whether you are currently moving when you fire the power or not. It just seems to be at random, maybe 30% of the time. I've bugged it an issue or two ago, but my guess is that we're just not making enough noise about it.

Funny enough, my Psychic Blast powers don't root me if I'm moving at the time that I fire them. No, I have not and will not be sending a bug report about those. ;D
  9. Same things happens when using Hover or just running on the ground. I can't make heads or tails of what's going on, but it's given me problems more than once on trials.

I suspect it might have been one of the updates where it's switching rooting on and off at random, as it USED to root when fired, but was changed not to.
  10. Out of curiosity, are any of those buttons/boxes clickable? Or are they static and dont' change/aren't clickable? Maybe we'll get some more ideas on what it actually doesor is possibly doing (if anyting) if you give us a little more information on what AT/set you're playing, when it happens (you said when you're fighting, but are you Hovering or anyting like that?), or if anything else is going around your computer (are you performing voodoo love ritual summoning at the time?).

It's very odd. Maybe it's just Argentine thing.
  11. One of you just reminded me indirectly about one of the best things I like about this game: customer support! For this alone I'd remain with the monthly payment of $15. I totally forgot about the yearly plan they had going until I opened up the game last night. It's a sweet deal if you can swing it, for sure.

I don't think The Game That Shall Not Be Named (tGtSnBN?) failed because of it's payment model. As a matter of fact, I thought it had a good payment model going for it right up to when it launched. Pulling a fast one and completely revamping the game from beta to launch sort of got players angry, as did other various things. Point aside on why it's struggling, I still think it's got a good model going even today.

No, I wouldn't like that for CoH, though sometimes the little $10 expansions remind me of this other model. I don't mind paying the $10, bought every pack so far (except the Origins one, need to buy presents for the kiddies). I'll be honest and say I'm acttually very surprised CoH is still using the monthly model, but thank goodness it is. Still, for personal and reasons of greed, I'd still buy a life-time subscription if it was ever offered.

Then again, I play red-side, so it's really all about me.
  12. I was just thinking about this today, and as odd as it may sound, I think that for this game, I WOULD get a life-time subscription offer. It's proven itself to be pretty reliable, though I think as a business plan, the $15/month works better than a short-term investment for NC Soft.

You guys think they should offer one? Would you guys buy into it? And, no, I don't think this game should ever go free-to-play.
  13. I'm looking to attempt a MoLG TF, and I know there's people out there that have done this. What do you guys recommend for ATs/setup? Also, of course, I'd be interested in people that would want to run the darn thing.

I'd be using an Emp/Psy Defender, can use either Build 1 for blasting (yes, I blasts okies) with Healing Aura (though I won't "rock it"), Rez, Clear Mind, and RAs, OR Build 2 with everything from Emp and other support power but no real damage (is TeH H3aLz0Rs, in other words).

I'm available to run it most nights (MST, USA), with a few exceptions on the calendar.
  14. But...but what are all these other servers I see listed? Nonsense, they must be for some other game!
  15. _Akry_

    Logitech g13

Well, I just got one of these babies, and it seems to work super-well with any game other than CoH, the one game I really wish it would work with, of course. It recognizes other games when they start up and loads the appropriate files. But with CoH? Nope, nada. Not even when I assign the profile to the CityOfHeroes executable, and NOT the CoHUpdater, and then switch back and forth.

Anyone have any ideas? I love this little programmable keyboard, but for the one thing I really wanted it for, it's not working. Anyone have some suggetions? Yes, I've ran all the updates and stuff.
  16. Hello fellow players. For years and years (since 2004) I've been playing this game, and it just dawned on me that one of the things I dislike about the interface is having to reach over and click on the mouse to interact with something on the screen, such as a door or a glowie. Not so much if I'm trying to click on another character amongst a throng of other characters (like clicking on someone under Atlas Park), but when it's an obvious things right in front of your character.

So, I ask you this: is there a way to set a keybind to interact with an object right in front of your character? If not, I'll move this over to the suggestion forums.

P.S., I have just about everything bound to a key on my keyboard (I have a Razer Tarantula keyboard, lots of extra keys, in case you're wondering).
  17. Well, we can't properly have bushy tails without a TAIL POWER SET, now can we!? Tail whip, tail spin, tail trip, tail....uh...snap.

Ooooh, I may be onto something here!
  18. So said the BaBs, so it was done...

But Babs, do work on allowing us to use or powers with it. Things are not always about being faster, bigger, better (ok, maybe bigger), but this would so much add to those little QoL things that few other MMOs out there have. In addition, it would look really *ZOMG*KEWL* with certain powersets.

I know you guys aren't busy or anything (note the sarcasm), but if you do this, I'll send some pies to Paragon Studios. What kind of pie do you like? Chocolate pie? Lemon Pie? Pumpkin Pie? Name your pie, I'll send three or four! Just don't say p**t*ng pie, that I can't provide.

    Akry

P.S., and you don't hav to share with Posi, but he can sit there and watch you eat.
    P.S.S., I'm serious, too!
  19. Ummm...*ahem*...I'M INDECENT!

Seriously! I'm turning on the Ninja Run power, and when I have my costume with tights on (male character), let's say that certain before-hidden body parts are quite prominent when I'm jumping.

Not that this is a compaint at all! I'm rather relieved that the devs are FINALLY giving guys some equal physical equality here. I think...

  20. Clearly we need Vet rewards for smileys! I smugly await my 66 month Vet reward Smiley...

P.S., How the heck do I even USE the new smileys? I used to just click on one and it would pop it in...
  21. My spandex-clad Villain is quite happy to wear tights. It's just so much more gratifying to feel the smacking of Heroes and is easily washed. And while it appears we serve Lord Recluse, you should remember that he allows us Villains pretty much free reign to do whatever we want. Sure, he may not be perfect, but compare him to the righteous, self-absorbed "leader" you guys call Statesman. Plus, he has Ghost Widow and Mako. Statesman has Backstreet Brawler and...Positron.

Well, the problem with this is that you can hardly get a team together nowdays. I do recall the days of daily Hami raids and all, but the game has apparently changed focus since then (to what exactly, I'm not sure). While these huge events are pretty popular while they're the new shiny, they eventually lose their luster and become forgotten. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to develop such events (imagine Lusca or red-side Hami), only to see them gather dust after a month or so.

Back to the OP's original suggestion, I do think a lot of virtual real-estate is wasted. It'd be a little better if there was SOMETHING there to see or do, even if it was something as trivial as just talking to someone about the place. But again, it'd lose it's shiny power after about a week or so. CoV players honestly devour content pretty quickly.

  24. Not a bad idea. Still if you think about it, each alt is suppossed to be someone new, someone different than all your other characters. They've never met any of those contacts YOU'VE met, so I can see from a story-line point of view how it really shouldn't be changed. Is it sort of annoying for the player? Maybe.

Mission drop, though. It too works great.
  25. Yes, I tried that OTHER game over yonder, and while I have no plans for switching over, I have to admit, I was impressed with their version of Flight. What impressed me the most was how right it felt. When you go down or up, your entire character faces up and down too without having to rely on the mouse. In contrast, in CoV, our characters stay in the same plane while going up and down (i.e., they don't dive or turn up accordingly).

Also, I was surprised b how much I liked the non-flapping wings. At first I thought they were going to look or feel odd, but I found they actually work (for me) better than constantly flapping wings. This becomes especially apparent to me when there's speed changes in flight (ex., Flight -> Hover), but yet the flapping rate stays constant. I also liked the outstretched wings when in non-flight over our current "sail" look where they stick straight out. While I'd still prefer them to be folded in when not in use (clipping issues, you say?), it looked more "right" to me.

Yes, this is just my opinion, but it would be nice if CoV revisited the Flight/Hover animations. I know they tried a while ago to much disasterous results, as most people hated the majority of the changes, but if it can be improved, why not?
