  1. Tuesday i did three transfers. All three went through just fine.
Then i tried to use my credit card yesterday and it would not work turns out the bank flagged these as Fruad. After some (fun dealings with the credit card company) reading it sounds lile I am not the first one to have a problem like this and I will not be doing any more transfers or renames till I have more confidence in the billing system.

Okay, no one eascaped from the Zig, everyone who got in contact with a Contaminated may already be dead and several contacts have died from Outbreak?

So, this means... no player heroes can be sure if they're infected, no player villains escaped from the Zig, and a mysterious plague is killing off everyone else?

    What's going on here?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah just like Stalag 13 where they have not had one prisoner escape. Merely hundreds.
  3. Boo Hiss........ they could have at least waited till the end of the weekend to end it with Monday morning maint.

Dang Dang Dang I went on Vacation on the 27th and missed most of this. I just got started again Monday.

Had to add a few more dangs. Sucks to be me I guess. Wish
I could have gotten more of this. Grrr on the timing of it all.

  5. Interesting build but not the direction i would take a Kin my Son/Kin is only L22 but i have many other Kientics. I always take Hasten and Super Speed. Because I am a Speed freak.

That and i get big game hunting team mates who want SB and i end up over my head some times I go for huge Accuracy and my own movement power. So i take Assault and tactics. Although i have considered dropping SS for IR when i get that high I like not having to jump indoors or in caves. THat and if its gone that bad that i need an escape i might not have the END to pop it off.

I went with both damage cones early and while most teams hate the KB. I genereally try to be very schooled in its use or tell the team I will be making a pile in such corner or terrain area. Having both cones which have huge range is how i managed to level so fast to L22. Following my blasters solo hunting technic.

I cant wait for a siren FS combo.

Kin is an extremely good set as-is, throughout its career. It needs no changes. Do not draw the developer eye to Kin.

    [/ QUOTE ]
QFE odds are if the Devs actually take notice of posts like this and take a look at Kin, its gonna get nerfed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've looked at Kinetics a lot. There are no plans to change it at this time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks since Kinetics became my refuge after the I5/6 INV nerf fest. More Nerfs here would push me out the door.

So i am very glad to see and releaved to hear this. Of course i have heard "working fine before" then a power set gets worked on so i will be keeping my eye open.

Funny i never used to think this way or worry about this till last August.

Guild Description: After getting to L32 with no SG invites I decied to make my own (this is the first SG i have built). This is a new SG and its only me right now I am not in a hurry to build it. But if it interests anyone please contact me in game @ArchLight or via the forum here.

The concept is Psychic powers either Controllers or Defenders with Psi powers. This includes Defenders and controllers that have pychic powers from the EPP.

Otherwise I like the fact that above my head it says Psychic Crush. Heck that just sounds cool which is why I finally did it.

I was going to limit it further but it seems like a fairly small draw already. As you can see in my sig Psiberia is L45 now.

Ok update time. We actually have members since quite a few of us have come back from COV and are building up a core group of RL friends. Most of us started new characters and are between 9 and 19 now. Right now its a heavy defender core with a couple Controllers.
If you see us and want to join PST and we will invite you to our team and run with you for a mission or two first. I have been asked to be selective and screen.
  8. While i will be taking certain PPP for the one power in it i want or for theme reasons i will not be taking very many PPP as i have better choices else where. I will be taking Mu lightning for my new Elec brute as a theme but i do not know if i will take more or even use Ball L.

I wished that instead of a PPP i could unlock a fifth power pool. That would do more for my characters than the PPP.

Because the PPP are so much more powerful than the EPP that i just can't handle the overpoweredness.

These station don't help anyone. I have yet to see one positve post about these items here except that now they dont use power or control.

What would make these empowerment stations worth using is if they made inspires. Have different levels of salvage make different tiers of inspires which you can then store in your new inspire storage!

Or enhancement makers. TO,DO and SO based on the level you are and the type of salvage.

Or temp power makers. At least the stuff sold at the arena or pvp zones.

Or costume piece makers! Get enough nemesis salvage and unlock a nem helmet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /totally cool

I would Costume hunt for salavage like i badge hunt now. Would be totally fun and a matter of accomplishment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The cost for these buffs, which only last 15 mins, need to come WAY down so characters in small supergroups can get them more than once or twice every 10 character levels.

Looks like the enpowerment station was designed by the same guy who designed base rent and base item costs. When is he going to be fired?

I have a DM/DA Brute that is looking into CoF and I'm trying to confirm the -Acc on it. I don't care about the Fear effect, I care about the Debuff because as a Brute, you want them still attacking: just whiffing.

If it is only 10% Debuff, then the power is useless to me. It would take 2 Accuracies, 2 End Redux and 2 ToHit Debuffs to make it worthwhile and if I'm only getting 16% Debuff out of it, than I'll drop it like a ton of bricks.

I was hoping to use CoF as a Threat Mitigation power in addition to a way to build Fury. This is opposed to OG that is *just* a Threat Mitigation power and keeps the baddies from hitting back.

Now, I have a little experience with OG on my Dark/Dark Defender and I gotta ask: is the range of OG the same (that is, less than 2 feet from you!?) for Scrappers/Brutes? If it was "normal" melee range, I'd take it and love it but if they have to be almost on top of me for the power to hit, it's another power that will get little use.

If I do drop CoF, I'm gonna gain a power and 6 slots from my build, which would be incredibly useful. I was just hoping that the -Acc would be a huge boon to a Brute (especially with the I7 Defense changes coming).

    [/ QUOTE ]

While i only use DA on Brutes i have some COF EXP and all i can say is nothing to see here move along.

I have developed a Cookout fighting style when i need to gather some aggro. SS/Dark i use Footstomp and Shroud to slowly kill them while they build my fury. Also COF will keep them in the camp fire if needed. I also use COF when i get in dreck over my head and need breathing room.

I'll be honest, I haven't read this whole thread.

I an here to be a superhero... see the cape? And that's why I left for a while when the nerfs were announced for I5 last July. That coming on top of a personal loss, was particularly crushing; because I am here to be a superhero, to transcend those real life injuries by doing things that no mere mortal can possibly do.

I'm an escapist, and when you get right down to it, the guy this genre is aimed at. And I came back because I wanted to believe that a man could fly....

This game has lost some of its spirit, and while I can't claim to tell anyone how to reclaim that, I'm really hoping that it can be done.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I too escape a little here and the I5/6 effects on my Prime tanker and others have caused me to nearly drop out of the tanker ranks. I deleted several tanks to make room for newer characters that are what i want them to be. My tanks stopped being what i had built them to be. Also they became less fun than my favorite Defender power set or even my new Sonic Blaster or my new Super Speedster styled scrappers.

Then COV came and several were deleted to make room for Brutes or Corruptors. Now 4 survive 1 because of name 1 for costume and 2 because of sentiment none because they are fun. Like you said the spirit went out of my tanking.

And not becasue god mode went away. As i have said many times I only tried god mode when it was rumored to be going away. I was happy to have Resist Eng/ELe 3 and 4 slotted back in I4. With only end and ACC in Invince. Now days even with huge HPS due to Dull Pain I jump into an Energy based spawn (6 man mission +1 targets) by the time I throw one KO Blow queued before I SJ in and Foot Stomp I am better than half dead.

While I am bullet proof and hard to cut / punch i feel like I am wearing wet tissue vs anything else.

I just wanted to post this again. I think it was lost within one of the ED threads after a lot of people were rallying against ED and the GDN.

This was originally posted by Luminara and it just really put into words how I want to feel when I become my "Superhero". Honestly, I don't really feel that way on most toons, really only my stone tank. The nerfcalls for Granite have already started so who knows how long that will last. My very first serious toon started 18 months ago a Fire/Fire Tanker still wallows at 45 and will probably remain there, not even really a "hero" anymore...

    [ QUOTE ]
A young Dark Miasma/Dark Blast defender was patrolling Paragon City late one night when a call came in from another hero, asking if she would be willing to join a small party on a high security mission. Elated at the opportunity to prove her worth to the hero community, do deeds worthy of note, and experience something truly challenging, she streaked off through the darkness, risking certain death along the way through the perilous Founder's Falls zone, and walked into the building with her head lifted and determination bolstered. The sight that greeted her was something the likes of which she never witnessed again, and it left a mark so profound that she was forever changed.

There, in the midst of a score of steam-driven machines and soldiers in antiquated uniforms, stood a man, unlike any man she'd ever seen before. Bullets shattered on his skin, fire rolled off his muscled frame, and blow after blow rebounded from his body as he stood defiant amidst the enraged villains, his fists cracking jaws and sending his enemies to the floor in boneless heaps, spraying bits of shattered machinery across the room. His friend, a curious man with powers of great control, smirked as he watched the battle rage, occasionally lifting his hand to still an unruly enemy or steal away their strength and will to fight, all the while pointing out weaknesses and giving advice, and cracking wise, to another young woman who stood at his side, eyes so wide that they looked ready to leap from their sockets.

As she stared, dumbfounded, the smiling hero tossed the last of the crowd of now defeated soldiers to the floor, gave her a brilliant smile, and said, "Come on, sidekick, let's go have some fun."

Following along, the young woman slowly began to realize that her presence here wasn't necessary, it was a gift, a hand of kindness extended from a hero she'd never met before. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she realized that what he and his friend had done. She and the other girl were there not to assist, but to learn, to benefit from these great mens' knowledge and experience, and to see what awaited them in the future. Some would later suggest that their presence was simply to put the word out on the streets and force the enemies they were facing to send in additional troops, but had that been the case, there would've been no need for the young heroines to even attend this raid. No, this was something far more noble in intention and design, an opportunity for the girls to experience a taste of their future in Paragon City, and they relished every moment of it.

With the abandon that only the greatest, or most foolish, of heroes know, they four tore through the installation, laying out one group of enemies after another along the way, determination leading them onward. As they stepped into a room, a group of a dozen of these curious robots and soldiers descended upon them, then half again more, and the air grew thick with the sounds of violence. Caught unawares, the small team found themselves nearly overwhelmed, the tall man rapidly losing strength and the other three fiercely defending themselves. Desperate, knowing that the tide could turn at any second, the young defender reached out and made a final grasp at one of the soldiers, reaching not for his weapon, but his soul, and tore away enough of its essence to revive the failing group. The tall man suddenly straightened, his eyes clear and his wounds healed, and cocked her a flashing smile as he turned the tide of the battle, a quiet and simple gesture of appreciation, and acknowledgement of her act of heroism. Startled and still locked in combat with one of the soldiers, she stumbled back, and inadvertantly attracted the attention of another squad in the adjoining room.

Within the space of five heartbeats, the girl hit the floor, feeling the life bleeding out of her, and another score of brutal machines and uniformed thugs swooped down on the tall man. Struggling to keep her eyes open, she locked her gaze on him, and nearly slipped into the blackness when he threw his head back and let out a primal scream, suddenly seeming to grow even taller and more imposing, and stood like a rampart as the waves of villainy crashed over him. Single-handedly, he ripped apart the horde, destroyed every machine and felled every man, and it was at that moment, finally, the girl knew what it meant to be a hero. He had not been beaten, despite overwhelming odds, willing to fight the very darkest and most vile that the universe could throw at him to save his friends.

In the worst moment, the tall man had summoned up all of his strength, stood even taller, and ripped victory from the jaws of defeat, saving them all.

Two weeks later, a hero new to the city, a young girl by the name of Alice, but who called herself The Black Whip, heard a distress call. A team of heroes had gotten in over their heads and were facing certain destruction. Rushing across the Hollows, heedless of the dangers that surrounded her, the Black Whip went to aid these noble heroes. Upon her arrival, she had to stop for a moment to take in the situation. Deep in a cavern, dozens of Superadine-enraged trolls had gathered, guarding a case of the hideous drug and fighting amongst themselves. The troupe of heroes had gone there to confiscate the illicit substance, but soon realized that they were outmatched and outmanned by the horde they faced. But as she cast her gaze across the seething mass of Trolls, the Black Whip knew they were no match for her. She could withstand their assault, she was certain, and give this motley assortment of super-powered people a chance at victory, as a tall man had once done for her friend, a dark defender.

Courageously, the dominatrix leaped into the throng of Trolls, running from end to end in the cavern, until the entire lot of them were gathered around her, wildly swinging fists and shrieking in rage. The Black Whip, elated, encouraged them, hurling insults and epithets as she flung one blow after another... and the heroes stood at the entrance, stunned into silence at her fierce determination and astounding ability to withstand the brutality that engulfed her. One by one, they shook off their shock and joined the battle, until minutes later when they all stood, gathered around the young woman, shaking her hands and praising her for her bravery and remarkable resiliance, all save for the single coward who fled the moment she first dashed in, heedless of the danger.

And that evening, when each of those heroes departed for their secret homes, they carried within them an inspiration, a dream to one day be a great hero, a superhero, like the Black Whip, who had, herself, been inspired by another's greatness.

I relate this story not to bore the readers, or chastise Cryptic, but to remind everyone that there was a time when heroism abounded in Paragon City. There was a time when we could do great and amazing things, when playing this game truly felt like playing real heroes, and when we inspired others to rise to their ultimate heights. But after the changes in the name of "balance", those times have grown fewer and farther between. The tall man in the first part of the story was an invuln tank, one who I never will remember the name of, but who impressed and inspired me so greatly that I felt, for the first time, like I really was playing a game about superheroes, not just an RPG with a different face on it. I created The Black Whip as a tribute to that inspiration and wonderful, exciting chance to be a "real" superhero, and I got the opportunity to pass along that remarkable feeling to others many times afterward.

I implore you, Cryptic, give us back our heroes, our inspirations, our role models. The changes implimented in Issue 5, and the coming "Enhancement Diversification", serve only to turn those memories of profound wonder and awe into faint and fading remnants of something that was once good and pure. Repeal the taxes you've buried our characters under, restore the shining examples of heroism to Paragon City, because THAT is what the city truly needs. Not balance, especially not a broken balance that sacrifices regular gameplay to the god of PvP, but feelings of power and greatness, like we used to have.

The drive for "balance" is ofttimes a decent and noble goal, but heroes need to feel heroic, and "balancing" the game overall in favor of player versus player combat takes the heroism out of it. Player versus player combat is a specialized thing, different from regular gameplay, requiring a different kind of balance. When you weaken one power to "balance" it for PvP, you create a greater imbalance in one or multiple other powers in the regular game, and it only harms us as a whole.

Please, let the balancing act end. Let the heroes of Paragon City stand tall, proud once more, as they fight to preserve life and liberty for its citizens. Allow our tankers to feel like tankers again, our blasters and scrappers to shine gloriously, and our defenders and controllers to do battle with their heads held high again and not merely buffbots and control automatons. Let our heroes be heroes, not shadows of a bygone era.

We, the players, love this game not simply because it has some interesting powers, but because it allowed us to become great heroes, to share in the times of greatness in Paragon City and amongst our teammates, and to inspire others to those staggering heights. We understand your goal of letting each player feel "useful", but it detracts from the true underlying attraction of the game, that of feeling unique, special, and truly noteworthy. We, as players, don't select "weak" characters out of masochism or a desire to be "fixed", but for the opportunities to play as heroes and experience new things, to rise to greatness in different ways and along different paths, and because each of us has a different idea of what it means to be "super", and a hero. Weakening all heroes to create a baseline ultimately detracts from the glory and wonder that being a hero means to all of us.

We beg of you, end the balance, before it ends the game.

Thus my sadness and why my most of my tankers got deleted to make room for more COV Brutes and Corruptors.
  14. I was running Power Surge and ran to prepare for the crash had toggled Rest and died fromt he crash. Think the HP buff happened but because i was resting and vulneable it did more damage.

No i did not have any debuffs on me no one attacked me. The EMP went pop an I died.
  15. Had fun but the TP Foe stuff was gettign to me had this one scrapper who had a thing from me kept nailing me so. I was playing a Kinetic Corruptor I found him at a distance and qued up transference and then moved in he then found me and TPed me i arrivved it went off followed buy a S SPeed before he sent me to the hospital. He only tried that one more time before deciding that was not fun. I then stalked him and slapped on some drive by Debuffs S Speed. Found that the big piles of players were to easy to get killed in. I wandereed around and killed some stuff got some INSP so i could last a monemt longer. Then would find the lone hero and go to town. Had this one defender who decided i was an easy squishie and got me once with the help of a scrapper and stoner. Who then broad cast taunted my put down. I replied liek you could have done that solo. I then found said defender and used my Ice to hold her then moved on.

I got tired of squishy insta death. and logged my SS/ELE and went pill box hunting. Since everyone was focused on clashing i would surge and take out a pill box. Even with Fury near max SS could not take out more than two turrets before Surge dropped. I then had to run and wait to recover and come back finish off the third turet and move in on the remaining one with what S/L i had. Possible with out all them shooting to finish off the rest.

Actually toe to toe with a stoner as well not solo but he was attacking and taunting me so I decided to test my self.

So in conclusion I will try RV but only at L50 when i can afford the debt that is this zone and have all my powers. Anything before then will just be frustration.
  16. This was my first high level test built an SS/Elec Brute and one thing was the quality of the protections animations.

Unless its just wierd test server settings the higher protection powers look poorly drawn. Surge looks just plain childishly drawn compared to the stuff we see on the MU. Going to need a L30 lightnign aura of a correctign color to make it look better.

    From the latest patch notes...

    • Electric Armor/Grounded now provides Immobilize and Knockback protection. This protection only applies when the character is near the ground, however.

Sweet deal you got there. Now continue with your rantage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It appears to not stop Knock up as i was knocked up off my feet but a PVE SS Bosses KO Blow. From my little testing last night it does not appear to be as effective PVE as Unyielding.
  18. First off what a great idea i love the special event and the fact that they actually did something like this.

My experience was not what i thought it was going to be. Built a Brute and Dom to test.

Brute SS/Elec hard to tell much about the set at this level because there are no missions and the zone is full of Bosses. Ran into a INV/SS Boss and had him beat when he stopped taking damage without any Unstoppable animation or DP heal. He then beat me into the street. I though cool look at my fury its gettign higher all the time. THen i realised the Debt bar which i am not used to seeing very full was really what i thought was my Fury. My fury the entire time stayed below 50%. Seems like any time I started building fury i would just get killed because the incoming damage to boost fury was always more than i can take. Got owned by states. Took 700 plus each from a Punch and Hand Clap. Now where are the NERFS since when does handclap do damage. 700 damage from Punch (gee wonder why they need to be +4 huh) and thats with all my resistances on including tough. Heard someone else who took 1500 froma KO Blow good thing they were not a Squishie or that would have like sent them to the hospital twice.

My Dom with a little stealth actually lasted longer alive by sure time than and i almost took out a PB solo with my new pet helping. Then ran into a Hero trio and Positron took me out with a 819 point Neutrino bolt.

Leasons learned otehr than to team with friends tonight I will not be going to RV very often. Hoped this would allow me some testing options but real testing is to hard to do. Also just avoid any named hero as they are +4 to you so your damage is squat vs. their huge HPs/recovery and they are +4 to you so their damage is much higher than yours. Now i dont expect to even try to solo them but it takes far to many to fight them AND the PVP players make trying a waste of time.

I did get some kills with both characters but have to say while iI even held Sister Psi my Terrify on a Scrapper i fought only took effect on them well after i was on the ground (seemed liek that was teh case everytime).

its a good thing i put a recharge in Rest as there were many times it was not ready when i got my free TP. Countless deaths even with a Brute and never could get a clean one on one except when it was like a wounded hero running away. Then it was not fair to them so no good test to my capacity.

While i enjoyed the event and the idea plus seeing them actually do it. I do not think RV is for me if all there is to do there is chase around for pill boxes and get insta ganked by Signature characters. Also noted when the villains won the heros fled the kill heros phase so none to be found. Maybe i will try it when i hit 50 and debt is not an issue for my villains.
  19. I for one just found out about the change to grounded and think the Power set is now very much improved must test to prove but it looks much better and my power planning no works.
  20. When you select GW and do her mission does it unlock any costume options? I had thought some of the Widow costume options were part of this deal am i wrong??

Thanks for posting the list and numbers, _Castle_. It is appreciated.

That said...Holy crap. My Blaster fire sword went from 100% to 5%?!?!1?!?!?one1!!?!?! Talk about a nerf!

We knew the % was going down, but 95%? This is another solid blow to non /em blasters, who dont have the stuns or high bi's in their secondary. Before when taking on the big boys (brutes, tanks, scraps) I knew I could either drop his status protection and hold him OR at least weaken his resistance and/or defense. Now? I have a 1/20 chance of doing this.

I understand the % had to drop, but to such an extreme hurts non /em blasters who dont have stuns, total focus, and power boost to compensate.

Look at my sig. What do you think will happen to that 60% now? All aboard, going DOWN.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know other sets have more (Energy/Elemental) but my Mighty INV tanker only has 25% energy and even less Fire resistances. With unresistable damage do you really need to drop my toggles? So unless your doing S/L which is the only thing i actually resist its going to hurt.

Now fighting a Fire tank with a Fire blaster is not a good choice go pick on an INV tanker. Just like AR blasters should avoid INV tankers and go pick on a Fire/Ice.

With Enhancement Diversification comes a benefit for ALL City of Heroes powers.

Every power, across the board, is getting a 13.33% reduction in its Endurance cost.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That helps but some of my characters notice the pinch even more after ED with out stamina 6 slotted or Conserve power six slotted as well. Even with END reductions in all my attack powers its more noticeable than before. I would carry more blues to cover the gap but universally i need to carry more greens because I take more damage and the amount I dish out is lower. Granted with recharges DPS might be able to stay the same but when I need to put down that one hard mob and it takes 4 of my attack chain instead of say 3 (it used to) its noticeable. END and incoming damage wise.

Just my two cents after many months of testing.
