First of all, Blasters rarely get killed by two shots and no one gets killed by 1 shot because there is a game mechanic to prevent that from happening.

My soloing Blasters don't get killed by mezzers because I scope out the spawn and target them first. Aim +BU+<insert big damaging ST attack here> equals dead mezzer in many cases. Remember mezzes are sometime interruptible, and if the mezzer is burning (or taking any DoT) or bouncing on his back, he can't get that mez off to trap you. If he does, just keep firing your Tier 1 & 2 primaries and your Tier 1 secondary until he stops breathing and he stops mezzng you. I love Defiance 2.0 - those low tier attacks are only smaller in comparison to your higher tier attacks - but they still bring the baddie down.

That's not to say that some foes aren't a real PITA. Mezzing Carnie bosses might give you trouble, and Sappers are downright evil. But you learn to find them and take them down first (keeping a handful of Breakfrees in your pocket just in case they manage to mez you and you really need your higher tier attacks).

I mainly soloed my level 50 Blaster (energy/electric/electric) by being careful in choosing my enemies and taking down those which were a geater threat. I can solo some of the EBs in the high level arcs, others I need to go get a team. But there are many other ATs who run into the same issue of some EBs being easier to take down than others.

Great thread. I've been around forever and thought I knew how "fill" worked ... but turns out I didn't. I thought you had to not only be in the same zone, but actually enter the mission. So I thought these invites were incredibly rude.

Turns out there were many times I could have said yes (and will in the future), especially when I am in WW in bidding or shopping mod.

One question for those in the know, though: When filling, do I have to be the same level as those wanting to trigger their maps? Does it work if I'm 6+ levels higher or lower?

[/ QUOTE ]

It does not matter.

And I'm with the faction that will willingly agree to fill if I'm doing some market stuff or editing my base or at the Tailor.

In fact, I'm betting that a couple of my characters are on someone's "Friend" list because I keep seeing the same people ask for pads more than once. Since I may be on at non-standard playtimes (currently job-hunting and I take breaks in the City) - I bet I'm a good "Friend" to have for some farmers who are doing their thing at those times.

How would you fire off other attacks while using it? I'm guessing the animations here are pretty minimal, just visor touching and looking rather than full body or arm swings.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, exactly. Locked in place, and unable to target anything else, your head would be locked towards your target. The other blasts would animate normally, while the thin lasers of staredown would just always be on.

[ QUOTE ]
So the Stare Down beam continues and the other power you trigger fires off inside that beam?

[/ QUOTE ]

The staredown beam would be smaller, actually, but yes that's the general idea.

[/ QUOTE ]

But if your gaze is "locked" on that other target, how can you "see" to fire off the other blasts - even ignoring the aesthetic objection I would have to having multiple "beams" coming from the eyes doing different things.

It would seem to me that if you were engaged in a Stare Down, you would be ignoring all other targets and therefore more vulnerable to attacks from other sources (such as the other foes in the spawn, who should now be more able to sneak up behind you and critically strike you, even those not Stalkers). You would not be aware enough of them to fire anything at them (or arguing that you could split your perception, it would be at a drastic -To Hit to represent your focus on the guy you are Staring Down.)

And the mental picture I get of two different "beams" coming from the eyes (even if one is graphically smaller than the other) is just hilarious, but not in a good way.

As much as I'd like to see the AP AE get shutdown so the MA people would have to start in Galaxy, I have to admit that even on a new character I'm out of AP in less than an hour never to return on that character unless it's to pay SG rent.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's why I pay rent over in Galaxy City!

Teamsters Base

I really like the use of plants embedded in the wooden posts and such. It adds a very nice decorative touch to all that stone..

A good idea deserves to be copied, so I think I will be adding that to my Arcane base in the future as ell.

Good Job!
6. Sign me up for Team One.

I'm not sure who will be coming, but it will be either Maurya (lvl 50 Energy/Elec/Elec Blaster) or Isotope 165 (lvl 41 Rad/Dark/Power Defender) or just possibly Brighid Frost (Fire/Ice Blaster, approaching lvl 35). Most likely Maurya, though, unless Iso's debuffs would be more help to the team as a whole.

This looks like a great buff for my dominators. My Mind/Energy in particular is shifting into high gear with the Energy Assault upgrades. I'll glady take all those changes for my Plant/Psy too.

[/ QUOTE ]

...You love firing off two /energy attacks and losing half your blue bar? I exaggerate a little, but really not that much; the END issues are just horrible.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm afraid I won't be in much of a position to comment on that. My Mind/Energy is at a level where endurance is no longer a concern (outside of endurance drains from enemies). I tend to overdo it when slotting for endurance reduction...

[/ QUOTE ]How dare you compensate for endurance issues. The proper response is to complain. :|

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought the proper response was to blow it up and exaggerate it to the point of absurdity?

Golly, I'm so out of the loop! I should attend the meetings.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought the correct answer was to threaten to cancel my subscription after deleting all my dominators. At least that's what I got out of the first dozen or so pages from the Official Feedback thread.

Personally, I'm loving the Dom changes. Maybe I can get my poor neglected plant/thorn past level 22 after 3 1/2 years. Baby Doms seem to play a lot lke BabyBlasters for the first 10 evels or so - I'm still testing how they play in the teens and higher, mainly because I couldn't stand to level any on Live and therefore don't have any to copy to Test.

Rest assured that if anyone makes fun of you for not having a picture, they will be subject to the forum's wrath and derision, not you.

That's where you are wrong. People without pictures just plain shouldn't be in the forums. Buncha no avatar losers is what they are.

9. OTOH, if there was some way to add "trigger when combat power is activated" to the current auras as an effect like "Body Sparkles Light", that would be kinda nice.

You would still have to earn the aura (and not be able to buy it with the Cyborg Pack), but still get the same effect of only having an aura while in combat.

I can show you a good stove in my base. It has burner rings and everything.

[/ QUOTE ]

That must be where I saw it!
11. I have seen at least one stove, but I can't remember how it was done.

For refrigerators, I use the double white cabinets. Put one set above the other along a wall. If you want a refrigerator that is deeper (which I do in my bases) - place a cubicle there and stack a second set of cabinets out from the wall on top of the first set.

I have also seen a refrigerator made by stacking floor safes (turned around so the dials face the wall) with a single power cable (wall item) placed to be the handle.
12. [ QUOTE ]

Blasters have pretty good damage, but their secondaries seem weak. They don't buff or heal and the secondaries don't add any significant damage. Corrupters do almost the same damage, while having the ability to heal and buff when not focusing on damage. One might argue that blasters are only focused on one thing, however with more damage power sets on Villain side (Dom vs Controller), a corrputer can slack off and things will still die fast.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is funny. Seriously, I can tell you that playing my corruptor after playing any of my blasters feels very anemic on damage.

And saying that Blaster secondaries don't do much damage -seriously, you need to check out the numbers before making that kind of statement.

Ok I know you say you will fix both of these but the CoP has been down 4 years.

[/ QUOTE ]

CoP went offline October 2006, unless my math is borked it's not been 4 years.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's broked.. its been down since before I came, and I came in i3 to 4 ish gotta be longer then that, and I agree with the devs corner thing XD I need a dev to post to do that though.

[/ QUOTE ]

Per the Wiki - the Trial came out in September 2006 and was taken down about a month later in October 2006. October 2006 to June 2009 isn't even 3 years.

September 2006 was between Issues 7 & 8, so if you starting playing in I3 or I4, it wasn't in the game at that time.

Doesn't the Cathedral require some base items? We didn't get bases until Issue 6, with the release of CoV, October 2005.

I agree that three years is a bit much, but apparently CoP was horribly, horriby broken and must be rebuilt from the bottom up, including changing how base raiding works, which means finishing the changes to PvP.

But OP, your math is off as suggested by OmegaS2.

Imagine having programmers, a whole team of them.... some creating new content, others tracking down bugs.

Imagine project management, team meetings, and tracking systems...

Imagine them being able to do *both* at once.

Then look at Paragon Studios, and realize *that's precisely what they're doing.*

Also GDN and GED

Otherwise, why the tank nerfs? or blaster nerfs? or stalker buffs?

I feel a lot of changes (buffs/nerfs) have been done with that in mind and I feel blasters should be next

And I've stated several times I don't think a damage buff is the answer

[/ QUOTE ]

What tanker nerfs are you talking about? GDN?

What Blaster nerfs are you talking about? I only recall a buff with Defiance 2.0 (other than fixing the terribly broken Smoke Grenade, was it? I didn't play a /Dev Blaster back that far).

I don't understand your point.

Double Doorways

<QR>

I'm actually pretty "meh" about double doorways - sorry, Nights_Eclipse.

Since it seems we only get a very small part of what we want here in Base Construction, it's not even remotely near the top of my list of what I want to see. So if it means I can't have some of the other things we have been listing that we want to get, then it would be fine with me if we never got them back.
19. Other than the Dominator changes on Test - have there been any large scale changes to Endurance usage?

I can't recall any and I'm making new alts every month. Perhaps I'm just used to knowing that lowbie End is something to struggle with. I know that it's better to slot my lowbie alts with End Redux & Recharge (but not too much Recharge or I won't have the End to use the power) instead of slotting Damage and Accuracy. I know which powers are sucking down the End more and slot accordingly. I know not to keep Sprint on while fighting. I know which toggles are used for which foes and turn the others off to save End.

I guess my point is that it's easy to forget all these little tools when you haven't played a lowbie in a while, but knowing them is part of knowing how to play the lowbie alt.

Oh, and BTW - you do know that Castle really isn't the guy to ask for more content from, right? Different Devs have different roles on the team.
20. I'm just about ready to submit the Paragon Arcanum for possible feature in the Scoop. I finally have the rooms done, now I have to create the slide show.

Why?

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Ultimo, why not just use functional rooms, and decorate those?

As for the simplest 'functional' base, if it's just you, you can get away with one teleport pad. Just swap out the beacons for the location you wish to go. That and a work room is all I have in my VG.

[/ QUOTE ]

Good call -- that's how one of my red side bases started out. It was a little awkward at times, but it worked out easily enough.

[ QUOTE ]

I might have missed it, what server are you on?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I'd be curious to know as well. If nothing else I might be able to offer a coalition spot so you have access to everything while you're under construction.

[/ QUOTE ]

True - there are usually several Base Builders willing to offer coalitions tohelp out beginning base builders. Depending on server & side, I typically will coalition with just about anyone (now that they can't steal my stuff from storage).
22. Are you asking where to find them in the base editor menu?

Under Arcane Transport or Tech Transport.

Otherwise, make sure you got all the exploration badges for the zone - while in SG mode - yes, this means you may have to go get them again if you weren't in SG mode the first time you got them.

Edit to make this even more superNewb friendly - note that the tabs for Transport beacons don't even show up in the menu unless you have your cursor in the transport room.
