I never get the whole "the devs are targeting certain sets" mentality that people seem to have. If they run through fear powers, it hurts Mind controllers as well.
-
I think Ill doms happen, but it's deemed a new powerset, ie Dark Illusion, or something to that effect.

And Posi has already said this will be a continuing trend where people can fail and still get partial rewards. Do you honestly think they are going to make the final Incarnate trial and fully expect people to complete it the first time through? The Incarnate stuff should be hard. You should fail. You should have to keep doing it until you can complete it and feel actual satisfaction in doing the hardest thing the game has. This game as a whole has neutered difficulty to such a level I swear people complain if it doesn't feel like the devs are holding their hands. "Man, I need to IO out my build, get def capped, perma (insert power), and whatever else I need so I can blitz through TFs on +0 setting. Wait, they made something where I can actually fail? What the hell are they thinking?"

Or maybe not having anymore.
Quote:LinkI wouldn't hold my breath -- Posi stated at the Bay Area Meet & Greet this past year that all of the powerset proliferation is done. That's not to say their plans couldn't change in the future, but at least as of that night when he made the comment, he seemed (to me, at least) to be very definite about that.
Note, I'm not saying they are correct and even they admit what was said rather loosely. I honestly don't think "everything" will get ported like it was the originally mentioned by Posi. I think the devs make new sets to make certain types of sets for other ATs since they won't port others over, ie WP for tanks instead of Regen, which to me has zero chance of working. I think side switching on some level killed future ports.
I still think 1-2 more rounds covers "everything" that needs to be done. And yes, even if I can nitpick why certain sets haven't been done, others leave me scratching my head. I think /ice for scrappers didn't get done since Ice is so known for being an aggro controlling set and that's not what a scrapper is for. See brutes getting a taunt aura for /sr, but scrappers still don't have it. I think at some point scrappers get a def based set with a heal to help fill in the /ice and /nin void. -
You likely won't miss out on the defender's tohit debuff since you are going Dark/dark. The sheer amount of tohit debuffs the build kicks out even at corr levels should be enough. The slow DoT nature of Dark's attacks won't be as beneficial on a corr as compared to other sets namely Fire and Ice.

Of the positions, AoE def ranks the lowest to cap, but getting ranged capped will be rather nice since the bulk of mezzes come from ranged attacks. The loss in recharge isn't significant enough to really sweat it.

I think Mind requires the most out of the player to have the set play as well as it can be played. Yes, it can be amazing. It can make you feel like you should have rolled something else as well.
Of the horde of characters I have rolled, my 2nd 50 was an Earth/storm and it will be one of the few 50s that I'm willing to do the Incarnate stuff with. I can have a team go in three directions and I'll still go, "Yeah, I got this." Earth/ta might be more controlling, but Earth/storm has more than enough and it's rather fun to me. -

There's no way I'm keeping SB active on 23 other people. It would virtually make me a "pure" Kin.
-
-regen isn't really useful until you get to bosses and harder stuff. I'm having a hard time thinking of how I won't be taking Reactive on any character that has a chance to.

Quote:It would be like having Superman go handle common thugs. There's Batman for that.Do you go often go back to wipe out greys in Perez Park when you're level 50?
If not, why would anyone go back to wipe out the equivalent of greys at level 50+X?
The whole point of the incarnate system is to become more powerful (while having fun).
Increasing the difficulty of pre-incarnate content defeats this purpose. -
One advantage Claws/sr has over Claws/invul is that Claws/sr doesn't really care how you use Shockwave.

Quote:Agreed on Fossilize. It's just there unslotted right now.A couple of comments for you OP.
- Fossilize is under slotted. This is a power that will serve you even at 50. It deserves more slots.
- Not as critical but IMO RI should get more EndRedux. In a prolonged fight you will be sucking wind.
- EF I would recommend dropping the extra EndRedux and the Ranged Enhancer
- If you plan on running Hover all the time I would look at slotting it another set with more Def/EndRedux. Also be aware that Hurl Boulder requires you to be on the ground and cannot be activated while hovering.
RI does fine with the end reduc you have in it. My Ill/rad currently has no end reduc in it, but I haven't done sets for that power either.
EF is ok with two slots for end reduc if you are aiming for level 50 common IOs. If you do lower level ones, ie 35, then three slotting it will be better.
For Hover, Stalagmites also requires you to be on the ground.
I would take Quicksand over Mutation, or CC. Stealth is overslotted and a wasted power really. Find your recharge bonus elsewhere. The def it provides is vastly negated as soon as you attack and I assume you plan on leaving it on due to the end reduc. Nice idea on paper. Bad idea in reality. -
Quote:Only some of the i20 stuff is trials only(and I think that is only the level bumps). The alpha slot is there for normal missions.I've been reading up on the system a tiny bit, and I think it is looking a bit grindy to me. I may not actively partake. But if I do nibble, I will definitely go cardiac.
Do the Incarnate powers always work when you are level 50 (like in a scanner mission) or do they only work on Incarnate-flagged stuff (such as the 2 new missions)?
Thanks,

Why would /regen do better against big crowds? It doesn't have a power that benefits from bigger mobs. If nothing else, it's lack of much of anything outside of heals and regen means it struggles against bigger mobs with more incoming damage.

This has nothing to do with the second series. I started to watch book 2 of the first series and have come to the conclusion just about anybody was going to be screwed trying to make a film version of the series. And holy hell, did they take the wrong direction for the movie. Two of the three kids used slapstick/goofy comedy a ton and yet that was vastly avoided in the film, or so I hear since I didn't see the film and have zero desire to do so.

Don't blame me. I rolled one recently and it's only level 15.

Quote:I seriously don't get how one looks at the new one and decides it's better and needs to be added. You switch from the new one to the old one. Not the reverse. I really hope they make the classic look the actual original one. There is no advantage to the new one in either form. None.Just as a point of reference, I dug these out of the I20 beta forum over here http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...8&postcount=39:
Did they, like, just ... misplace the color values for the old UI? Did they toss out the old one without keeping any screenshots or logging into then-Live?
And I'd like to note that at least for me, that second image is muted compared to what I see on Live currently. -
I think I get where they were going with the idea. I somewhat like the uniformed look, but they are completely devoid of personality.
-
I have to say. I have been around since just before i5 and I'm absolutely stunned that somebody would start a thread the day an issue hits complaining how the devs have wrecked the game. Stunned I tell you. I swear it's like it's never happened before. Oh wait...
-
Even the new "classic" team window is ugly. There's no way in hell I'm using the new one though. This very much falls into the "What the hell were you thinking?" department. Right click on a teammate and it's a completely different look for what pops up compared to what the new UI is. I can understand a new UI if the functionality of it changed, but it didn't. It changed for the sake of change.
