Quote:I actually did the comparison in another thread, and actually weighted it so that the "before" seemed better. The new model still came out ahead on almost everything, and that was just a conservative estimate of the new model. How I think it will actually work out ends up much more in favor of the new model.Yeah, I just tend to err on the side of caution with that statement - if only to discourage any inclination to comparing this 3 month span with that 3 month span and oh-my-god we got 1 less mission arc and 2 less costume pieces this time around so we're not actually getting more!!
I have not seen any objective analysis in terms of comparison between the old model and the new where the new didn't come out as the leader in content. -

Quote:I agree with this, though it might be tougher to do than you or I imagine. I do think that the enhancement values should stay, and that the set bonuses shouldn't work. Then, you can prevent them from slotting any new invention enhancements. That's how I think it should work, but I make no claims on how easy that would be to do. It very well may be that the set bonuses are somehow tied to the enhancements being functional, which you'd then need to separate out entirely.I'm fine with no set bonuses for premiums. But those enhancements should do SOMETHING. I logged into my second account to find my characters at 0% enhancement to everything, and no cheap way to remove the enhancements and sell them. Even the basic IOs are at 0%
I don't see that as enticing old players to come back.
As to the rest: we're getting more for our money now than we were before. We're getting more for our subscription price than we were before. In addition to that, they give us free points to spend how we want.
Things may be priced a bit too high, and you don't have to buy those items, but the goal is to have VIPs get enough points to get some things over time, but not be able to get everything without spending some extra cash. -
Quote:You get more. There's no way around it. For your subscription, you're getting what you got before, plus at least what a booster gave you before every quarter. All of that for the same cost.
Bonus: you can choose to pay exactly the same as before and get, more or less (probably slightly more), what you got before.
But if you don't want what would otherwise be in a booster, you can either save your points or buy something else, like a powerset.
(This post not meant as an attack on what you said, just clarification that we in no way are getting less than what we got before). -
ask, and ye shall receive. Just make sure you're using the latest version of Mid's.

^This. We've shown in multiple other threads how VIPs are getting more for their money now. Appearances can be deceiving, but the facts back up anyone that says that we're better off now than we were before. We just don't get everything for free now (though we never did anyways, which people seem to forget).

Quote:Unless you were able to get on Posi's broken blog thingy a while back, then you know exactly what the powers look like. There have been little tidbits here and there from leaks on youtube and websites. Most disappeared pretty quickly. Some of the power information is in the game that people have found using the [power] bracket thing. There have been threads that show some of these and have put together what information we've gotten so far. The devs of course have been relatively tight lipped. There have been small tidbits mentioned in some of the Ustream sessions. It's out there.

Hey everyone,
I had made a character a long time ago that was supposed to be stuck using only pool powers. With the changes to the travel pools, I wanted to semi-resurrect this character as mostly a concept, but I might just have to make him in-game depending on the ideas that I get.
The restrictions I've placed on the character concept:
1) Can take two powers each from his primary/secondary powersets
2) Every other power taken must come from a power pool
3) Ancillary/Patron Pool powers are allowed
4) Vet Powers and other temp powers can be counted on for use, in case you don't have a truly complete attack chain.
Going by those rules, I created the build below. I'm interested in seeing what other people might come up with, though.

Quote:Remember that "Tens of Billions" doesn't always equal the best character. I could spend tens of billions on any character, but they might have been better off if I had only spent 2 billion.Hmm... I was looking more towards the 'tens of billions' range, which may be difficult to reach without going crazy on purples and PvP IOs - and Tanker wasn't even on my map to begin with, but I'll certainly have a look at that set combination, see what I can come up with.
If you really want to spend tens of billions chasing purple sets, then I think the AT that gets the most out of them is the Dominator. Purple sets tend to give lots of two things: Acc and Recharge. Most characters are built with enough Acc to hit what they're fighting, especially if you consider the Acc enhancements within the sets already. However, having a bit more can't hurt. But Recharge helps Dominators to a great degree, bringing up their AoE controls sooner and enabling them to get to Perma-Dom easily.
A perma-Dom Plant/Fire Dominator would likely be one heck of a beast. -
Lots of money to create an awesome character that can stand up to anything?
An Elec/SS Tanker. Doesn't need purples or a lot of PvP IOs, but spending a ton of money on it can get it to the S/L Defense softcap, the S/L/E Resistance cap, and has a decent amount of inherent recharge and +dmg for offense.
I think that Elec Armor benefits hugely for set IOs, and Kinetic Combat's are on the expensive side right now. -
I agree that the market interface needs some changes to make it more usable. If I've already bought something, it shouldn't even appear in the store anymore. Or there should be a page of bought items that I can scroll through.
-
Well, this might be fun, and it might not be, but I'm really enjoying my low-level Mind/Stone Dominator. Decent amount of control at low levels, and still has a bunch of smashy goodness.
-
I especially love the dialogue about his plan at the hospital. It's just so WRONG. Whichever Dev thought that up should be evaluated, and regardless of the result, should write more content for villains.
-
I actually think that Radiation Control/Radiation Assault would be a fairly easy make, mostly because the Assault set powers are already in the game, so you just need to make the control set. Shivans have three melee radiation attacks, so you use those. Then you take the three single target blasts from Radiation Blast. Bam, 6 powers already. Then you give them either Build Up or Power Boost. So, we've got 7 powers, no problem.
So, what are the other two powers? Well, either Irradiate or Electron Haze could probably go in for the AoE power. Then we need a "Utility" power, since I'll be damned if I'll give this set a snipe. So that leaves us with something from the Radiation Emission set or a single new power. I'd say that Fallout might make an interesting choice. EMP might as well, but that might be too debuffy. -
Quote:I agree that being able to respond to tells would be very nice, and don't see how it could be used by RMTers to spam lots of people, or anyone at all. However, that might not be so easy to do.I'm not looking for justicfication from the Dev's. They could require us to wear hats made of peanut butter in order to play and asking for justification would be silly, their house, their rules.
What I'm wondering is, how posters can shoot down the replying to tells part of the suggestions, claiming it has something to do with RMT. I just can't see how only being able to reply to tells sent to them is an opening for the goldsellers is all.
I'm open to being illuminated on what I'm missing there. If the suggestion is being shot down simply because they want to entice the $5 thats one thing, just don't pretend it has anything to do with RMT if it doesn't.
I imagine that as time goes on a bit, the Devs will be able to work out a few of these things, but I don't expect them to address them all. -
And has Stalker MA been compensated for losing Dragon's Tail yet?
-
Quote:I think the Devs would be willing to significantly lower the restrictions on free accounts. The problem is that the only time they'd consider it is when RMTers completely leave this game alone, which isn't going to happen. While true, it really isn't relavant to the issue.
It's not about how cheap it is to remove said restrictions.
It could cost .01 cent to unlock chat and SG membership but it wouldn't matter.
The problem is the Free tier is really nothing more than an unexpiring trial account that can now go to 50. When you restrict core functions of the game, inspiration trading and replying to tells most notably, you leave people feeling 'nickel and dimed' right out of the gate. Regardless of how wrong they are about it, let me repeat that because I know emotions make people gloss over important bits...
It doesn't matter that they are 100% emphatically wrong about it.
The point is the perception is enough to turn them away right at the gate.
That isn't good. Not for us ViP's and not for the Dev's.
My hope is the restrictions will be reviewed and possibly loosened a bit. I don't want Free players to get everything they want, I really don't want them to have broadcast or be able to initiate tells. I want them to be eager to pump money into the game though. We don't want free players, we want Premiums and ViP's.
I understand that, but dolling up a free trial and calling it F2P isn't going to go over well with those refugees from true F2P mXt games like Shayia and the ilk. Resulting in them returning to the others. Not what any of us want. A happy middle ground is possible, provided the restrictions aren't hardcoded in (ie not being able to drop inspirations without having all trading open.)
I just hope it's being considered at least.
Don't blame the Devs for implementing exactly what the players asked them to implement to curb RMT spam. -
I think I've got a few lowbie Tankers from past Tanker Tuesdays over there, but for this, if I can make it, I'll be using a server transfer and playing as my namesake.
-
^This. The first half of the video is the guy/girl just trying to decide what color scheme to use for it. Then only a very short amount of time for the actual powers themselves.
-
Very little, actually. It will affect what kinds of enhancements you can use of the dual-origin and single-origin variety. However, it is more of a story-telling device for the player more than anything else.

1) Not sure if you're supposed to get one, since you should've gotten one "for free" as a free player. The next one you should get is on the one-month anniversary of your subscription.
2) No, you will not get further reward tokens unless you spend money.
3) Guides just don't do enough nowadays, especially with IO sets creating a ton of different ways to play the same sets. As such, it's usually just better to try to make a build in Mid's, and ask for advice. However, you can usually look back through the pages of the AT you're looking at to see if someone has posted about the combo you're looking at making.
4) There should be a list like this in the Scrapper forum. Somebody more familiar with that forum can probably post a link.
5) The old Vet Rewards program used to give you a free character slot per year. Not sure how that's handled anymore.
6) Check out ParagonWiki, it's a great resource. Other than that, welcome back! And feel free to ask any questions you may have! -

Well, after enough Radio missions, she should be told to protect the bank, and when talking to the police contact after that, should be given another contact. So eventually it should put her back on the "right" track.
They should also be given other contacts along the way, I think. -
Quote:Toggles use up a tiny amount of endurance in combat compared to attacks. If I were only able to slot my attacks or shields with EndRed, I would choose my attacks every time. Damage toggles are of course different, but your Shield toggles are not using up all that much endurance, and slotting them for EndRed doesn't do as much as slotting your attacks would. This goes for pretty much every secondary. You'd notice that slotting your Fire attacks for EndRed would go a lot further, too.I'm sure you're right about the End/Damage ratio, but all I know is, I had to put a +3 End Red SO in each Axe attack (in addition to the normal End Red for the toggles in Shield that is common to both secondaries) in order to be able to get through a 3 or 4 person group of even con minions/Lts without having my toggles drop.
That wasnt required with Fire (mainly because multiple targets were being hit with at least 2 of the standard attacks in the chain), hence my wishing for more AoE in Axe attacks.
PS Both guys are in their mid 20s, so not all attacks are available (no AoE at all for the Axe, 2 for the Fire)
