Has Stalker Street Justice been compensated for the loss of Shin Breaker?

Please don't say Assassin's Strike makes up for the loss of Shin Breaker. (Wrong attack, see below)

I don't accept that a situatonal, low DPS, attack with a ridiculous interrupt time makes up for a loss of a pretty high DPA attack that applies a Def and resistance debuff.

I can't see the details of the set without purchasing it, so I am hoping one of you nice people who did purchase can take a look at the stalker numbers and tell me if any of Shin Breakers attributes have been ported to one of the other single target attacks (damage buff, recharge reduction, debuffs...).

I refuse to buy StJ off the store if its another set where the stalker version is gimped relative to the brute/tank/scrapper versions.

Shin breaker does not apply a defense debuff, rib cracker does. I don't know if you can slot it with defense sets or not but you're only losing a -7.5% res effect, not the -7.5% def. Shin breaker also has the poorest DPA of any street justice single target attack. While it's still good, had rib cracker been omitted for stalkers instead, the devs would have opened themselves up to the exact same criticism over that. Are you suggesting a ten power set? Perhaps you'd rather they'd dropped the taoe?

Yeah I realized its rib cracker after I posted it. EDIT never mind gunna leave it.

I had plans for the stalker version of StJ (Concept won't work on a brute or Scrap) but I don't want to spend points paying for a gimped version of the set. Losing that -7.5% resistance is going to hurt the dps potentialof an AT whose DPS is nothing to write home about.

Stalkers gain BU yes, but we lose Ribcracker's damage, combo builder, AND resistance debuff. That is a pretty major loss. Combine that with, as you said: Shin Breaker is pretty low DPA (I am guessing still better than Assassin's strike though). The Stalker set doesn't sound very appealing to me.

I will just save my points and hope the next melee set released is similar to KM or Elec melee (as in worth rolling the stalker version).

Er, I had the same brainfart as you. Rib cracker does the lowest DPA, shin breaker is the highest behind crushing uppercut. So, instead of getting the -res attack, stalkers get better DPA and the -def. I think most people would call this an acceptable trade since the -res is pretty minor in the first place.

The thing about losing a combo builder is that you still have three of them, which is arguably still one more than you actually need. I probably will take three on my scrapper but it would be possible to construct a very good chain with two combo builders and alternating use of two or three of the finishers, depending on how much recharge you have. Taking all four of them on one of the other melee ats would be silly, though, as you wouldn't even need any global recharge for one of them to be redundant.

I don't see how they could have made the stalker version of the set any better without dropping either the tier 1 or tier 2 attack. They're not going to do that because for one thing it makes the set too good, dropping one of the higher tier attacks down into the level 2 pick, but also because that would make it more difficult to produce an attack chain at low levels.

Oh well, I will just save my Paragon Points, Inf-, and time for Staff Fighting or Heavy Weapons if they are acceptable on stalkers.

Unless you're completely determined to hate the set for a reason I am having a hard time discerning, I don't even see why you couldn't make the stalker concept work on a brute, scrapper or tanker. If the concept involves being invisible, well, there's dark armor and energy aura for you. Energy aura doesn't even get a No FX option for energy cloak, so you'll look identical to a stalker whether you want to or not. If that's not good enough and you want to be an invisible guy wot kills from the shadows in one blow, congratulations, scrapper SJ allows you to hit combat readiness, rather than build up as stalkers would get, and drop a combo 3 crushing uppercut on something straight away. This basically does the same damage as assassin's strike, and that's if it doesn't crit.

You'd have to prove that Stalker Street Justice is worse off or that Rib Cracker/Taunt works out to better performance than Assassin's Strike/Placate.

I know *exactly* what you're doing. The devs didn't make the set exactly how you wanted it so you're boycotting it. I say fine. Doesn't mean the Stalker version isn't just as good as the other melees...unless proved otherwise...which you haven't done...

Have to say, I've got my doubts as well. Last I looked, StJ's critical damage was unaffected by combo level and since Stalkers depend more on their crits than Scrappers do this is another part where they seem to come up short with StJ. The damage done at the various combo levels is proportional to the AT damage modifier, which means Scrappers are doing okay even if their 5-10% crits are not boosted by combo level. Not so with Stalkers whose lower damage modifier is meant to be made up for by the scaling team critical chance and their own controlled criticals.

Pursuing that line of thinking will simply lead you to the conclusion that stalkers need a buff, Zem. By comparison to other stalker sets, street justice is the second best if not the best by almost any measure. Great DPA, a huge tier 9, loads of aoe, and this is without even considering combos which only make the set better still. If shin breaker can take Achilles' heel procs, I'm going to go ahead and say that street justice is hands down the best stalker set, bar none.

A single person can't boycott anything Leo. Well they can but to what end?

And yes, I am not going to buy a set that I think does less than its Scrapper, Brute and tank bretheren.

Look at the sets I herald in the past:

KM-Has the unique BU-Refresh mechanic (that almost was removed by accident in I21).
ElM-Lightning rod does not break hide

You know from our past discussions I always recommend playing the rest of the primaries on a scrapper instead because frankly they are BETTER there.

This is the same case for street justice. Another set, designed for Scrappers, Brutes and tanks.. then "OH YEAHED" over to the stalker AT without a second thought.

There is no boycott, no hidden motive. I encourage you to buy and enjoy the set. I will save my points.

EDIT: Look I know it wil play ok. But I am a min maxer at heart, and I need a reason why to play the set on a stalker over a scrapper. And frankly there isn't one good enough for me.

Two things. Stalkers with street justice will do radically more damage than tankers with street justice. If, however, you feel this way about scrapper and brute comparisons, you're never going to buy a stalker set.

You should probably just give up on Stalkers all together, if you dislike AS that much.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm giving you the same advice I gave myself.

I don't like AS, and so I don't bother with Stalkers.

I'm curious, did they ever get around to giving Street Justice's Assassin's Strike a unique name or is it still just Assassin's Strike?

And has Stalker MA been compensated for losing Dragon's Tail yet?

Oh boy poor MA. I dislike Tankers and despite that I made a SD/MA Tanker and I'm loving MA there, especially with Shields. 25% def to m/r/aoe at level 4 and 33% +dam in CS (plus AAO), it even has decent AoE with Dragons Tail and the telenuke.

I loved my StJ/ice on test and dueled with a lvl 53 elite boss in RwZ. I don't know how much convincing ya need but doing anything with SOs, no incarnates, and taking on +2 to +3 rikti isn't "good enough", yikes on your standards.

Does Spinning Strike crit 100% from Hide the way Burst does?

Nope 50% chance.

They were compensated by being allowed to keep both AoEs. Which is more than you can say for nearly all Stalker sets. Sorry, that's as good as it gets on Stalkers.
