V.I.P. with some Issuses With Freedom
It takes all of five bucks to get tier2. (Or less if you can find a cheap clearance box.)

I also have friends that have bought City of Villians & Going Rouge. Only to find that content locked to them as Free Players.

Which content would this be?
If it's Incarnates or First Ward that intentional on the part of the Devs.If it's anything else from Going Rogue that should be bugged.
Same for Villains, if it's Masterminds or SoA that's intentional, anything else should be bugges as it's not the intended behavior.

It's not about how cheap it is to remove said restrictions.
It could cost .01 cent to unlock chat and SG membership but it wouldn't matter.
The problem is the Free tier is really nothing more than an unexpiring trial account that can now go to 50. When you restrict core functions of the game, inspiration trading and replying to tells most notably, you leave people feeling 'nickel and dimed' right out of the gate. Regardless of how wrong they are about it, let me repeat that because I know emotions make people gloss over important bits...
It doesn't matter that they are 100% emphatically wrong about it.
The point is the perception is enough to turn them away right at the gate.
That isn't good. Not for us ViP's and not for the Dev's.
My hope is the restrictions will be reviewed and possibly loosened a bit. I don't want Free players to get everything they want, I really don't want them to have broadcast or be able to initiate tells. I want them to be eager to pump money into the game though. We don't want free players, we want Premiums and ViP's.
I understand that, but dolling up a free trial and calling it F2P isn't going to go over well with those refugees from true F2P mXt games like Shayia and the ilk. Resulting in them returning to the others. Not what any of us want. A happy middle ground is possible, provided the restrictions aren't hardcoded in (ie not being able to drop inspirations without having all trading open.)
I just hope it's being considered at least.

I think it should probably be stated though that this isn't really a 'free-2-play' model so much as a 'hybrid' model that is still more focused on getting people to pay a sub than relying on just microtransactions, at least that was how I understood it back when CoH Freedom talk first started.
Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.
While true, it really isn't relavant to the issue.

Don't blame the Devs for implementing exactly what the players asked them to implement to curb RMT spam.

Don't ya just love false advertising? They really should have put quotation marks around Play.
City of Heroes Freedom. "Play" for free. "Forever".
Or better yet... Play for free. Forever.
And yet... It's called CoH Freedom. And the first page on the site says "Play for free. Forever.".

I agree with 99% of the Restrictions. but one of the best things about City of Heroes has always been the Community. How can we be welcoming when they are not allowed to Join a VIP's Super Group because the VIP's invite is restricted to the new Player.
As for my Friends They Bought CoV just for the Masterminds and they were there mains. After Hearing from me how awesome they were as a beta Tester for CoV (After the NDA Dropped of Course) They have some pretty good Vet time as well. but to buy the then be asked to pay again for the same Content that was basic. Thats gonna suck no matter who you are.. After talking to them seems they have got up to 12 Tokens in the Rewards..These guys jump to every MMO I play with me starting back in EQ so if I could use my own points to unlock their Mastermind's for them I would. (In a couple months after I built them back up (Friggen Rocket Board is awesome lol)
As for the Going Rogue Content that may have been unlocked for him. I'm waiting to hear back after he tries it out.

Not seeing the problem.
Yeah if they got City of Villains or Going Rogue, they should have a 2nd token for applying a retail code.

I've been a subscriber since launch. Thing is I have a bunch of broke friends. But thanks to other MMO's going F2P they got into Gaming with me and have actually bought things or gone VIP in the games. I'm always a VIP games. This is the first time I ran into this Issue in a game and I really only bring it up because as a Super Group leader that was excited for the new wave of fresh players. It bothered me that my gaming experience and my time spent in City with my friends that I brought to the game and wanted to invite into my Super Group depends on them gaining level 2 Paragon Reward level or Going V.I.P. . I can Understand a Free Player not being able to "Start" a new Super Group. But not allowing them to join the community I see as a problem.
So my suggestion is let Free Players join existing Super Groups.
I also have friends that have bought City of Villians & Going Rouge. Only to find that content locked to them as Free Players.
