Here's something interesting, both about the name of the Dream Doctor and about the things he says. He talks about the dreamspace, and shaving a piece off himself, not unlike how an aspect can be shaved off the whole and lead to madness, if we buy into that theory. But the thing is, it makes sense. If we believe that Rularuu is trapped within his own mind, a master of dreams would be the perfect man to do this. And, really, what prison can hold a ravager of dimensions with such cosmic powers, but the prison of his own mind, where his own power is keeping him trapped?

It makes sense to me, at least.
My question is who thought it was a good idea to create a portal to the Shard in the first place? I think the Aspects are similar to the Infinity Gems, they are just waiting for someone to figure out how to get them to work in unison again...under control of course.
  2. I imagine it this way, to be effective in Paragon city, any gang-mob-evil organization is going to outfit it's people with some sort of base-defense/resistance to all forms of attack. What we do is overcome that defense/resistance until our power overwhelms them and they collapse. This is why the bad guys tend to run when those levels get too low, our attacks are starting to hurt...alot. What idiot is going to try to snatch a purse in a city where every third person has heat-vision?
  3. Got my new character Nuclear Sun to 50 with a lot of teaming (and no farming) with my new SG.

    Spherical PBAoEs

Quick suggestion. Instead of things like Blazing Aura being resticted to a single plane, how about being spherical showing their effect on even flying targets.
  5. Well this won't end well. By the way, I suggest a thesaurus and an encyclopedia.
  6. The suggestion is all meant to be optional and, as stated, not meant to be AT-breaking.

Well that's very heroic. How about allowing low-level characters the option of becoming Vanguard "Trainees" to be able to earn merits that can be cashed in once you become a full fledged member.

Kelds don't have and def or resist in contrast to their Quantum weakness other than being able to bring some significant damage to bear. Invuls need some form of weakness to counter being resistant to everything else. I am suggesting being able to more "fine-tune" those status'.

This. Even Vet rewards require you to be a VET to get them. I think every area with costume sets should have some Task or Requirement to unlock the sets account-wide.
  10. Ok a question to the suggestion. How many folks would like to have a stronger defense/resistance to a certain damage type, but have a weekness to another?

I suggest such a feature be optional, but not nessesarily based on your power sets. What I mean by this is having to option to be weak against energy, but strong against lethal even though your a Fire/Fire blaster. This would prevent PvPers from tailoring attacks to specific sets. I have no suggestion as to how significant the numbers would be, but I would imagine they wouldn't be AT breaking.

This would give players new challanges in their playstyles and would also add thematic options for RPers.
  11. I think the fact that a movie about this game can be interpreted in so many different ways, says a lot about how much variety there is here.
  12. Ya know there was a time when this game was all about street sweeping. Perez and even the Hollows were packed and people were complaining there was no motivation to run missions. Now, we have content out the backside and only get half-debt in missions and now the complaint is that the servers "LOOK" empty. There's just no pleasing everyone.
  13. I think the movie should be all CG. The movie should have a short intro showing the Well of Furies and Pandora's box and the rise of Statesman and Recluse, but should move quickly to just before the Rikti invasion and focus more on Warwitch, Apex, and Horus and as they become superheroes. The Rikti invade and we see, not only how the Phalanx deal with it, but see more the lost of life on a ground-level through the eyes of our three street-level heroes.

Now, I know people want the game to be playable on their older machines and such, but there are things visually that can be improved upon a lot. A great majority of the costume options are low-res in detail and texture; it's interesting to note that for example the high-res shiny cyborg parts are updated and detailed versions of a lot of the tech parts. A pass over these to bring them closer to the standards of the later costume sets and Boosters are now.

On that, it must surely be time to upgrade the character models as well. I've heard a lot about how time-consuming and difficult it might be, but the bodies are decidedly blocky (not to mention the mitten hands and feet) and aren't '2009'. For good or bad, gamers are coming to expect more detailed character models and I think that's something a little overdue for this game. I would say the same for faces, but that's a double edged sword. Facial expressions are hard enough in full CGI movies; even though there's some advances of this technology in some games (LotRo and a bit in Champions, though it looks awkward at best), I don't see it being a big thing as of yet.

Game engine wise, this also needs to follow through. Again, for good or bad, people are seeing physics based stuff crop up in MMO's (Champions' limited interaction with physical objects comes to mind here immediately) and for me personally, I look at Mayhem/Safeguard missions and think that technology should and could be expanded into the larger world. Not everywhere on every street corner, mind you...but available in some way to make the world more...well....smashy. So that our fights using all these powes have some lasting/temporary effect on the world around us. And isn't that a staple of comic book superheroism/villainy?

Again I agree with a lot of people that zones need a good going over and revamping, and I would say this needs to start from the ground up. Whilst the tutorial is spot on with 'what you need to know' moments on both sides, it could be made to be a bit more involved and invigorating. Busting out of a prison or stopping an outbreak of disease are fine, but give it a little more than just one mission. Like Champions, City of could do a lot to set up storylines from the beginning and give players things to look forward to. And for heroes, let's have reasons to start in Galaxy or Atlas rather than just being two starting zones. And on redside, the choice of NOT working with Arachnos needs to be more dilenated and have meaning instead of having subsequent storylines dovetail back into Arachnos. A secondary faction or something allowing villains to be true villains and not lackeys is needed here. Perhaps Going Rogue will allow this?

And lastly, story story story! The Coming Storm! Rularuu! Ouroboros! Cimerora! All of these things and more have unresolved/ongoing/untouched stories attached to them and deserve more than they have now. By extension this of course should mean more and new maps and environments; that's not just a wish of this player, but it's a logical extension of the game world to reach out and be broader in scope. We -almost- have this with areas like Cimerora and more dramatically in the Shadow Shard (which is practically crying out for more areas to explore within it), but the obvious things like underwater/outer space/other continents/cities (again superhero staples) are there to be had. Respectively and I think mentioned before, we have the Rikti homeworld, the Coralax region, and in Going Rogue, Praetoria (city or more, we don't know).

It's time the story moved forward; I'm fully appreciative of all that's being done for improvements in gameplay, customisation and Quality of Life features, it makes CoH that much more of a joy to log into. I'll admit to being a little spoiled here; I'm also playing Lord of the Rings Online and one of the things that keeps me playing is knowing that the story is moving (however slowly) towards the War of the Ring and seeing places I've read and seen of. I want that here too, that sense that the story is going ahead.

That's pretty much my two influence (though adjusted for the markets these days it'd be about 200,000....)

    S.

I could see it now, the Ultimate Level 50 Task Force: The Quest for Rularuu! An unknown new benefactor has sent Villains to seek special objects (I refuse to say jems) that would reform all the aspects of Rularuu, while heroes would have to try to prevent it. If the Villains win, they get cheated out of a promise of power and must join forces with Heroes to defeat Rularuu himself, but if Heroes win, they prevent the reformation of Rularuu, but must now join forces with villains to stop all the aspects of Rularuu and ultimatley the unknown benefactor.
  16. In Statesmans defense, if you were an immortal with the power to kill everyone around you by accidentally sneezing the wrong way, I think you would become a bit of a jerk since you have seen it all before and society seems frustatingly stagnant to someone like him.
  17. Man! I love it. Smacking a few civilians wouldnt be bad either.

Yep, zero. Even if the critter had a Hard primary or secondary, if the other set is missing any Standard powers then the entire critter is worthless. Doesn't matter if that other set was all Heals and Buffs or an attack set with Build Up and a Tier-9 attack.

Somehow i'm ok with this. Bunches of people complained that the standard NPCs were too easy and wished they were diverse like we are, but as soon as we get what we asked for, we proceed to gimp them for the sake of cheap XP. I say, if you want prize, be ready to fight for it!
