Quote:It's a decent combo. The -ToHit of Dark Melee works very well with the +Def of Ice Armor. You get a second heal, two endurance recovery powers, and the +Dmg power is great for boosting Icicles.Hi Folks,
I'm thinking of rolling an Ice / DM tank. Looking through the guides and the first 4 or 5 pages of this forum, I didn't see any talk of this combo. Is this viable or is it a suspect type build? I'm assuming you would softcap positional on this or would it be S/L/En/Ne? If anyone has direction, I would appreciate it. If there are posts on this which I missed, please feel free to just direct me that way. Thanks.
Ice Armor is typed Defense, and you should be easily able to soft cap S/L/E/NE Damage types. Fire and Cold you likely won't be able to softcap for Defense, but you get great resistance to cold damage, and most Fire attacks come with some sort of S/L type to them as well (not all, just most), so you'll be sort of covered there. -
I remember way back in the day running the Atta mission on Aett, back when there was no aggro limit, and the mission was bugged so that as soon as you engaged a spawn, they teleported to the same location, and the enemies would stack quite nicely.
I basically sat at the spot they were teleporting to, with Icicles running, and the rest of the team went around shooting each spawn. By the time they got back, I had hundreds of Trolls all trying to hit me, with Icicles slowly killing them all off. Just pop a purple every once in a while, and I was all good.
I'd say bring back THAT bug anytime. -
Quote:Using models directly based off of another game would likely infringe upon the copyrights of those games. As such, I don't think that would happen. Weapons similar to them? Maybe. Really closely resembling them? No.I think some of the weapons that NC software uses in their other games and games that are not their's should be put into this game. For example, I found this weapon that was a Circular blade. I believe this weapon was in the video game Soul Calibur but I maybe wrong.

Also, Granite Armor is the strongest defensive power in the game. Of course it's going to come with a few offensive drawbacks. The movement, recharge and/or the recharge penalty can be made up for by using some IO sets, though.

Quote:Oh, I agree. I just think that with Titan Weapons being in development, it fits in really well there.Nice and now I can see what you mean by a scythe being part of that set but what do you think personally. Being able to use a scythe would be cool.......right?
I'd love to be able to Swing a Scythe around. It was my favorite weapon to use in Diablo 2 and in NWN2. -
-
Quote:If we get a Scythe, it likely won't be useable with Shields, since it's a two-handed weapon.Maybe? Or maybe make a full power set just based off of Scythes? I don't care what the Scythe looks like but more to the point of just adding another power to our selection. Even though we got tons of powers to pick from already but it would be so cool to have a Scythe with Willpower or Dark Shields.
But once we get Titan Weapons, I think that's a better place for it, instead of a new powerset. We have enough weapon sets as it is. -
What about a Corruptor? Should be different enough for your tastes.
Maybe a Sonic/Rad Corruptor? -
Maybe a weapon customization option for Titan Weapons?

There are a couple of different places to go to, actually.
1) There are origin contact stores in Brickstown and Founder's Falls. Just find the right contact for your origin (I think the Natural one is in Founder's, but not sure).
2) Rikti War Zone should have a store that sells these.
3) Cimerora should have a store that sells them as well
4) Ghost Falcon in Peregrine Island sells higher-level enhancements as well, but not sure if it's only 40+ (and the same with General Hammond in the Shadow Shard). -
Quote:This is pretty untrue. 90% resistance resists 90% of the damage, no matter how much comes at you. That's pretty good scaling.
Even con, thats the point: Scale in tohit versus damage. Both scale up as you face higher level mobs, defense can increase their defense to nearly unlimited (hardcap) range, no mather how high the tohit bonus is, they can scale towards it and keep it 5% floored. Resistance cannot, simple. And the bigger the gap to resist cap, the greater their damage is.
Meanwhile, Defense actually scales with increasing level in the same way. It deflects a proportional amount of attacks based on the enemies level because they get accuracy bonuses.
A +1 enemy gets a 1.1x accuracy modifier, for instance. If an even-level enemy has a 50% chance to hit, and attacks you with a power that has standard accuracy (1), then they have a 50% end chance to hit you. If you have 45% Defense, then that gets dropped down to 5%, because it's a 5%ToHit x 1. If they're +1 to you, then they have a 5.5% chance to hit you (5% ToHit floor * 1.1). At +4, they have a 1.4 accuracy modifier, for a final ToHit of 7%.
As such, Defense scales exactly to resistance as the enemy increases in level, at least in terms of averages. -
Quote:Send an Ice Tanker against the psi enemies, and they'll drop just as fast. Or an /EA Brute/Scrapper. Only Positional defense sets enjoy much protection against Psi attacks.I asked this question quite a while ago, nobody seem to know the exact answer. Why is defense if favor of pretty much anything in the game?
90% cap resist in trials wont keep you alive, softcap (53%) does keep you alive (unless you get hit really unlucky). The benefits of resistance faded when IO's were added to the game, resistance will be hit by debuffs, defense wont.
hey modified the damage on trials considerable (to 1 shot wonders), defense can scale, resistance cannot.
As for 'defense can be 2 shotted', i want to see a cap resist versus a cap defense in LAM trial, Psi will shread any resistance tank, but defense based will survive (majority of resistance sets have no protection at all against psi).
However, some Resistance-based sets get decent resistance to Psi protection, including Dark and Electric Armor. -
Quote:You can give her a few bucks to buy access to the class. Otherwise, nope.I'm a VIP player and I'm trying to get one of my friends interested in CoH. The problem is she only wants to play a mastermind and she doesn't want to buy it until she knows she will like the game. So I was wondering is there a way to gift her the mastermind class?

I would also add that I'd like the holiday event pieces be made available. The ITF-locked pieces at least you can get anytime you get past level 35 and can run the trial. The event pieces you might have to wait 11 months before you can get, depending on when you make the character.

Sexy Jay's thread is still in existence, and as far as I know, he's still here. The thread is in the Developer's Corner section.

That we're awesome!
Or that we've changed our names to reflect that we're VIPs, which you can do in the USER CP forum options area. -

Quote:Then go ahead and unsubscribe. I think you'll find that you'll end up spending more to have access to everything you have no permanently.A server transfer isn't really a gift to a lot of us, it is a nothing.
The server transfer was given to us as a nothing to make it seem like we are getting $15 worth of free stuff a month to keep us subscribed.
I do think the Devs need to do something to make subscribing seem more appealing though, if I unsubbed right now I only lose Incarnates but I gain 920 points a month. The decision to stay subbed is actually quite difficult and it really shouldn't be if they have done things right.
Is the server transfer token a huge gift? No, it's not. But it's free along with your subscription, where we're already gaining more than we were before Freedom. So if you want to look a gift horse in the mouth, go right ahead. But For 15 bucks a month as a Preem, I don't think you'll get everything you'll get as a subscriber. -
Because giving us 800 more points per month wouldn't make any business sense?

Quote:Granite Armor is cheating.I don't have access to mids at work, but I think an elm/stone brute would be great for this. charged brawl has good EPA and fast recharging, take Jacobs ladder for a good spa single target and aoe attack, and stone to skip every power until granite. granite gives status and resistance, fury boost pool attacks more than crits, and teleport is easy to fit to overcome the movement penalties of granite.
It's not, but it sure seems like it is. I look forward to seeing your build later. -
Can I buy additional answers for some of the questions?

Quote:Okay, but if they "feel" that they are being taken advantage of, but we can show them that this is ABSOLUTELY not the case, and they are in fact getting more from their subscription than they ever were before, will they listen?Yes it's a business. And sure praise that if you want. However, it good to acknowledge the fact that if more and more players feel like they are being "taken advantage of" then the numbers WILL drop.
The problem isn't that they are being taken advantage of, it's that they are reacting emotionally and not thinking about what they're actually getting. If they did, they'd see that they're better off now than they were before. So if the numbers drop because of this, it's because people aren't really understanding the system.
